How Google judge about duplicate content?
-
With recent Search engines updates one thing is clear we cannot ignore content. Content marketing definitely going to be most important part of our SEO strategy.
I have few doubts about content marketing (circulation of content over web) where I want suggestions of community members. There would be different thoughts so I would like to have as many as responses to know what majority thinks:
-
When we are writing guest posts, does article needs to be unique with each and every blog we are writing or we can safely circulate one good piece of content to 10-15 blogs who are interested in our creative.
-
We have written a good blog post for our own domain. Apart from social sharing should it be posted to other related blogs too or it should be unique to our domain only.
-
Social sharing, mentions, like of blog matters in rankings?Seems yes they do but need to know what majority thinks.
-
Finally what is the safe number to circulate your content over web.

**"Some agencies i know say its safe to submit one article to 25 -30 article sites and it helps in" **
This is called spinning content and Google does not like it
Google will take the first indexed article and give it the original credit, anything that is syndicated after that should give the original piece credit by tracking back to it, otherwise Googles Panda update might pick up these tactics.
I think the problem with the old way of thinking (not very old but a few month of recent updates) is to build links from sites, this can be good if done right. However why give your articles to other sites? why not create great articles on your site and get other sites to link to it. If the article is very good content why would you give it away? If the article is not great content it's not going to help the site, the user, more importantly your conversions. The ROI on a worthless article is waisted time.

Some agencies use article syndication to get links back to your website.
There are many schools of thought on article syndication. As long as you don't have a copy of that article on your site you should be safe however I have read recently that the technique is a waste of time these days.

So it means,
Point one: Of course you should not submit same content to blogs you are guest blogging as it could harm them and ultimately your efforts would also lost.
Point 2: Your blog content need to be strictly unique as they are in your domain, you should not use that kind of content for other purpose.
What do you think about article submissions. Some agencies i know say its safe to submit one article to 25 -30 article sites and it helps in SEO.What do you suggest?

You are only penalized when you have duplicate content that resides on your website. For example if you have blog post on your website and that same post exists on another website. ..........that is duplicate content and you could be penalized.
If you are guest posting and using the same content for each one the owner of the website that you are posting on needs to be concerned with that. It's a good idea for a website owner to run content through copyscape before agreeing to post it on their website.

Duplicate external links?
I have been guest posting at a variety of reputable blogs in my niche. I generally write once or twice a month and have a bio link with a link to my blog. I'm wondering if multiple links from the same domain (but different pages) helps, or if there are some diminishing returns here. Should I only be writing one post for them? Of course, there are other non-SEO benefits too, because these are reputable sites. But I'm wondering how this helps my SEO? Thanks in advance!

Using Google Blogger
Hi, On my website I have a specific blog section, which like most people is linked to Wordpress. I have been advised that to achieve better SEO its also a good idea to use Google Blogger, because it will link back to your website from Google. Obviously we don't want to submit the same articles to Google blogger or else that would be duplicated, but is this something that could benefit and is anyone else doing this? Thanks!

Prevent average users from copying content and pasting into their websites
Please do not respond with a "you can't stop them" comment, I understand this. Most of our pages have content that is duplicated across multiple domains. The recent Google algorithm update focused on penalizing pages that have duplicate content, and it could be one of the reasons that we have been seeing traffic loss. I'm looking for some type of javascsript/php code that will help minimize this issue. If could be code that does not allow you to copy and paste the code without turning of javascript or a dialog box pops up and says "this content is copyright protected, anyone copying this content is subject to legal action" I've found one script that might work http://www.ioncube.com/html_encoder.php My questions are still the same: 1 What is the best method to achieve my objective? 2 Will this additional code affect how the webbots see our site and or affect rankings? I know that anyone can figure out how to get the code, I am trying to mitigate by providing a warning about copyright infringement and making it more challenging to copy our content. Please do not respond with a "you can't stop them" comment, etc, I understand this. Thank you for your comments!

Duplicate Page Content & Rel-Canonicals
The SEO Moz duplicate page content tool lists the following URL's as having duplicate content: http://www.savvyboater.com/1988-newer-8-tooth-15-hp-honda-outboard-props.aspx http://www.savvyboater.com/1988-newer-8-tooth-15-hp-honda-outboard-props.aspx?sort=PriceAsc&pi=2 The second URL is the price sorter/second page of the category and contains the following rel-canonical: | http://www.savvyboater.com/1988-newer-8-tooth-15-hp-honda-outboard-props.aspx"> Are we using the rel-canonical correctly in this case? If so, why does it continue to show up as duplicate content in our SEO Moz report? There are over 1,000 URLS listed in the report with the exact same issue. |

301 Redirect & Duplicate Content
We currently have 16465 audiobook products presented at our Web store. 5411 of them are out-of-publication (OOP). Here's an example: Harry Potter Audiobook 2 : Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - J.K. Rowling - cassette audiobook Many of the 5411 OOP products are duplicates and triplicates of one title but were offered on a different medium (cassette, CD or MP3 CD) or were a different type (abridged, unabridged, dramatized). The description (story-line) is the same for all. Because we know once a page gets on the Internet, it can live there for years, we decided to keep OOP product pages at our Web store to: Let those who may have searched for the product and clicked on a link to an OOP product's page that it was no longer available. Invite them to explore our Web store. Let them know that although the product may not be available on cassette, CD or MP3 CD, that it might be available as a digital download. We know that Google does NOT like duplicate content from one site to another and even within the same site. If we redirect all the 5411 pages to one OOP page, will this eliminate this duplicate content issue? The OOP page would explain that the title they were looking for is no longer available but that it might be available as a digital download.

Does this count as Copied Content ?
Hi, we are publishing news on our website blog. In the news we use excerpts from other websites but do mention the source like "according to XYZ news source" etc. Does it count as copied content as sometime copyscape shows alsmot 30% duplicated content due to inclusion of references from different sources in our news stories ? Regards, shahzad
