Return of investment on spend on google adwords

Hi
Running an adwords campaign for a builders/construction company namely double glazing what sort of return of investment could I expect to get on a return of £4000 per month?
I know its a million dollar question but any insight or thoughts would be appreciated, especially on tracking ROI for example in this case it's just leads via a contact form on potential conservatory, windows or doors work which would be followed up via phone and an onsite visit.

Its not always the person that pays the most that will out rank other advertisers
The formula looks like this:
CPC bid × Quality Score = Ad score (The highest scores will rank in the top)
so what does that mean? Lets say that advertiser A has a Quality Score of 8 and he is willing to pay a max cpc of 2$ that gives him a total of 16 points ( 2$ x 8 quality score) But advertiser B is willing to pay 3$ per bid but only has a quality score of 5 giving him a total score of 15.
In this scenario Advertiser A would get the top position.
The avg _Quality Score is 5.. if you do a great job with your _Quality Score you will pay less to rank, and visa versa. __
__CTR has a huge impact on _Quality Score - So make sure your ads are relevant, interesting and standing out. ___

Also with negative keywords I am already using things like "diy conservatories" as this is not what I want to target, is that what you mean?
How do you get to no1 position on adwords is it just the case of however pays the most in their daily budget gets no1 spot or is it a number of factors

As Monica already stated it depends on various factors. The keywords you are targeting, but most of all the landingpages ability to convert visitors into customers.
I've done some work in that area
It wouldn't be unlikely to convert 2-3% on some keywords while others would be a waste of money. A perfectly optimized landingpage might do way better then these numbers, but that takes time and you obviously need to do some A/B testing. If you do a great job you might get x2 - x4 times the avg conversion (~2%)
A few tips:
- Devide your groups and ads to get the best possible quality score
- Test ads on how they perform - try to optimize as mush as you can
- Keep an eye on you CTR for keywords (higher CTR = you pay less pr click)
- track conversion rates for keywords, ads and campaigns
- Use negative keywords to filter out broadmatches that will lower you CTR
- Use ad Extensions to get a higher CTR
- Do A/B Testing of landingpages as well

Did any of those clicks convert? I would think on a broad term like that, you would have a very low conversion rate.
Let's say of the 40 clicks you scheduled 20 appointments. The average Ecomm conversion rate is 2%. At the lowest 10,000 per conversion, you would earn 10,000. 2% of 20 = .4. That isn't even 1 conversion.
Now if you scheduled all 40 appointments and converted at a higher rate, you would have a higher ROI.

For example conservatories which is high volume and very competitive recently generated me 3,400 impressions, 40 clicks at a cost of £1.71 on position 2.8 with me, and the average cost of the product if it led to a sale would be around £10,000 - £20,000

I think that it highly depends on your key terms. I don't think that anyone could give you an idea of your ROI without looking at your setup. Your key terms, search volume, average sale and many other things factor into the ROI. Will return only consist of revenue or is your conversion level setting an appointment? Or gaining a phone call?
Fortunately there are tools inside of Adwords that can help you track conversions, like phone calls, or contact us form submissions. Without delving into your data it will be pretty hard for anyone to be able to give you any kind of ball park ROI figure.

Adwords disapproving ads with the word "Jewish"?
Hi guys, I do marketing for many nonprofits, and one of my clients is a Jewish women's organization. In the past week or so, Google has started disapproving ads and keywords that have the word "Jewish" in them. I know Facebook got called out recently for allowing people to target based on anti-Semitic sentiments, so I'm wondering if this is just Google's terrible execution of caution. It's telling me that keywords with the word "jewish" in them (like "jewish women's organization in boston" is derogatory or dangerous). I've asked for Google's help, and they've been incredibly slow to respond. Is anyone else facing this with other religions or content? Natalie

Adwords Conversions - Trying to track button clicks that fire when Bootstrap modal contact form clicked/opened
Hi there, I'm trying to implement google adwords conversions on a particular client's website. They have used bootstrap as the framework for their site and mainly open up contact forms within a bootstrap modal, after a button is clicked. See here: http://www.gtwstorage.co.uk/ I thought I had successfully implemented the adwords conversion tracking however it has been a week now, and my conversions still say they are "unverified". I wonder if anyone else has encountered this before and knows what I might be doing wrong. Thank you in advance, Darren

Adwords Express Placement and Explanation
I spoke with the adwords express rep about this, and he was extremely vague and unhelpful. So, I'd appreciate some assistance...even though it's a lot of questions. Whatever insights you can share to any portion of this, i would greatly appreciate. We setup an adwords express account, and we set our budget $50 over what Adwodrds Express says was our competitors average range. However, our ads only show up on the bottom right side of page 2. We are trying to figure out why that is? Are adwords express accounts only placed on the lower tier of PPC by definition? Will they always be on the bottom of a sidebar on the second page? Does it depend on how much we are willing to pay a month? So, if we double what we are willing to pay per month, will the ad move up? Also, it's not clear to me at all, how much we are being charged per click or how we are being billed. How are they determining what each click costs? Happy Friday and thanks in advance, Ruben

Why would a business want to cap their Adwords budget?
If a business has an unlimited supply of product and an unlimited capacity to distribute that product why would they want to limit their Adwords campaign budget? If your Cost per Acquisition for a conversion is lower than the Customer Lifetime Value for any given keyword bid, why would you want to prevent your campaign from reaching as many people as possible? Why do some Adwords agencies insist on setting up Adwords in their own account?
I'm an online marketing consultant and I work with a variety of agencies who handle Adwords. I keep running into an issue where agencies want to set up Adwords in a proprietary account for my clients rather than in the client's account and manage it through MCC. I have just run into again and this time the agency claims they are protecting their Adwords "secret sauce" but that the client will still have full access to keywords, negative keywords, Ad copy, etc. It just doesn't pass the sniff test with me. Can anyone tell me if there are some legitimate reasons for an agency to do this other than to simply try to hold data hostage so that clients can't leave them without loss? I am inclined to tell my client they should run away screaming, but thought I would bounce it off you smart people first. Thanks!

SIte wide links by google display / adsense
hey guys, I had a quick question about my back links that might be coming from adsense. I am trying to help my father our on his site and help him recover from penguin. unfortunately his company hired some shady SEOers to do "SEO". little did my dad know the BLs he were getting might be spammy, thats what I am checking now. When I ran a BL report on him ( i use two tools, SEO spyglass and OSE ) i found that there were many "sitewide" links, but i dont think there were placed there by the webmaster, i think they come from adsense. I know he has a PPC campaign where the daily spend is 3k/ day so I know its very possible that this might be the case. If my tool is picking up BLs from these sites ( which are niche related ) does google count these links for ranking purposes? and might this hurt my rankings if google just sees these as "sitewide links"

Google Adwords Clicks v.s. Google Analytics Visits
Hi Guys, This question has been asked several times before but after doing some research, I haven't really found the right solution and/or explanation. I'm currently seeing a 30-50% discrepancy in Adwords Clicks and Analytics Visits, where there are more clicks than visits in most situations. E.g. 74,127 clicks v.s. 46,845 visits (34 add-to-carts, 67 initiated orders, and a revenue of $12,000). Can anybody in the forum help explain this? Thank you, Jurgen P.S. I've also looked at all the tracking codes and everything seems to be alright, I've checked if any internal redirects are stripping off parameters but to no avail. Lastly, I'm not sure if this is a behavioral issue here in SEA--will first click (Adwords) and last click attribution (Analytics) be the only explanation? P.S.S. I'm seeing the same discrepancies with Facebook ads and Analytics.

Running Adwords Campaigns to show Improvement in Organic Traffic
Hi mozers, I have a new client who contacted because his organic traffic dropped all of a sudden from 5000 visits per month to 300 visits per month. I have been reviewing his website profile and there are several reasons that take me to beleave the agency that managed his account until 3 months ago, was doing PPC to show improvement in the orgranic (SEO Service) traffic. 1. The Website was showing traffic for several highly competitive keywords 2. Most of the traffic 95% was driven to the home page with several groups of keywords 3. The website has just a few external links with anchor text not related to keywords sending traffic. Is anyone familiar with this type of practice? Thanks in advanced.
