Long url links
-
Just wondering about creating links.
Is it ok to have very long links?
Like: http://www.robotnik.com/computer-hardware-ram/8gb-ddr3-1600-desktopIs the above too long, is it better for SEO to be more to the point?

For better SEO, is it better to use hyphens in a domain name or not?
-
Hyphens have worked for me in the past in terms of rankings so I dont doubt the "ranking potential" but i stopped using them as much as possible for my users sakes mainly.
It does affect the SEO, like it gets broken links since people misplace the hyphen or the link is without a hyphen so another site benefits.
That URL length of yours is ok already. Obviously, I would again prefer an easy-to-remember URL so the shorter and more targeted, the better for me. It's a preference thing.
-
I would avoid hyphens in the domain name if possible. It's easier for people to remember your domain name or type it in after hearing someone say it. Multiple hyphens can begin looking spammy.
The URL length in your example is just fine. Looks good.

Are you asking about creating incoming our outgoing links, or are you asking about how to structure your domain URLs?
-
Hi Tomek. Here's Moz's best practices: http://moz.com/learn/seo/url regarding URLs. There's an upper limit in IE of 2048 or 2083 characters so that's one consideration, but the example you provide above seems fine.

Cannibalizing link
this is what the reports states :Cannibalizing link"Red & Color Roses", "Red roses", "Black Baccara Roses\rBlack And Red Roses\rStarting at: $ 0.72 per Rose", "Black Magic Rose\rDark Red Black Rose\rStarting at: $ 0.96 per Rose", "Forever Young Roses\rRed Rose Flowers\rVelvety Deep Red\rStarting at: $ 1.16 per Rose", "Freedom Roses\rRed Rose\rStarting at: $ 0.66 ¢ per Rose", "Madame Delbard\rRed Wedding Rose\rStarting at: $ 0.66 per Rose", "Night Fever Roses\rTraditional Roses\rRomantic Red Roses\rStarting at: $ 0.66 per Rose", and "Red Paris Roses\rDark Red Rose\rStarting at: $ 0.72 per Rose"ExplanationIt's a best practice in SEO to target each keyword with a single page on your site (sometimes two if you've already achieved high rankings and are seeking a second, indented listing). To prevent engines from potentially seeing a signal that this page is not the intended ranking target and creating additional competition for your page, we suggest staying away from linking internally to another page with the target keyword(s) as the exact anchor text. Note that using modified versions is sometimes fine (for example, if this page targeted the word 'elephants', using 'baby elephants' in anchor text would be just fine).RecommendationUnless there is intent to rank multiple pages for the target keyword, it may be wise to modify the anchor text of this link so it is not an exact match. the questions is then why having those links on that page hurts, when we need the links to take the costumer to the color of red roses they want.

The "100 links/page recommendation" - Do Duplicate Links Count?
We have way too many links on our homepage. The PageRank Link Juice Calculator (www.ecreativeim.com/pagerank-link-juice-calculator.php) counts them to 300. But all of them are not unique, that is some links point to the same URL. So my question: does the "100 links/page recommendation" refer to all anchors on the page or only to unique link target URLs? I know "100" is just a standard recommendation.

404 link | How to remove the link so it is not found?
My report has listed a few links with 404 errors. They are internal links but are not found. Is there a way to remove that link so it is not found again? Thanks

Brand Name URL Redirecting to Actual URL
So we have already built a site under a parent company's URL: parentcompany.com And now we have their branded product lines in directories: parentcompany.com/brand-name1, and parentcompany.com/brand-name2 We also own the actual URL Brand Name 1 (which is also the exact description of the product): brandname1.com We do not yet own the URL for Brand Name 2 (which is also the exact description of the product): brandname2.com. This is because a squatter is sitting on it and is asking $10,000+ for it. What we are trying to determine is how valuable these brand name URLs are since they will be redirecting and not the actual site's primary domain name. Anybody know how much of an effect owning those and redirecting has on ranking for those brand names that are also very descriptive of the products? Would we be smarter to spend $10,000 on adwords or 10,000 on the domain? Thanks!

Long URL in listing job portal
Hello I have job portal and I am listing job offers by: regions, position, sector, language skill For example, when user searchs job in Bratislava, Programmer, information technology, english. My URL is www.presbium.sk/bratislava/pragrammer/information-technology/english Title:Job in Bratislava, Programmer, Information technology, english I know, that URL is too long and no good for SEO. Is it solution? When user chooses max. 2 items for example: www.presbium.sk/bratislava/programmer/ than I put in every next links atribute nofollow and google will index only pages with max. 2 items: www.presbium.sk/bratislava/ or www.presbium.sk/programmer/ or www.presbium.sk/bratislava/programmer/ but not www.presbium.sk/bratislava/protrammer/english/, because english link has atribut nofollow. And I want to ask, what is the best solution for SEO when I am listing job offers by regions, position, sector, language skill and I have than long URL and Title www.presbium.sk/bratislava/pragrammer/information-technology/english Title:Job in Bratislava, Programmer, Information technology, english

On page internal link text
Hi, I'm in the process of rebuilding/designing an existing well ranking niche bespoke software site and have the following question - In the footer, I'm planning on linking to the main landing pages (blue widget software, red widget software etc theres about 7 in total). In these links I want to know if its best to have the word "software" in each link as I'm scared of it looking spamy. We sell custom software, and a lot of the keywords that currently attract traffic (as reported in analytics) end in the word software, for example - blue widget software red widget software In the footer would you end each link with software or not? How much effect would this have on rankings? Thanks in advance.
