Going to Mozcon - what to do in Seattle
-
Hi
I know this isn't technically an SEO question, but wanted people's advice.
As I am flying half way round the world I am actually arriving on the Friday and have Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday to go and explore Seattle.
I plan on going to watch a baseball game and visit the home of Starbucks (and I hate coffee, but thought might as well visit), but what else would people recommend doing / seeing in Seattle.
Thanks in Advance
Andy

Hi Andy,
I've written pretty extensively about why we have MozCon in Seattle.
Additionally, if you're looking to see Mozzers speak, many of us travel abroad to do so. I know Jen's going to be at SPRINT Europe; I'm speaking at Brighton SEO; and Rand will be at SMX Milan, for just a start.
Thanks!

Hi Andy,
I do the same thing with SearchLove I unfortunately just missed localU (root canal no fun)
Smart idea I think you will love Seattle it's a beautiful city. Don't forget to check out the SubPub in the airport if you're a Nirvana fan.
Sincerely,
Thomas

thanks all for the suggestions, i will put a plan together for the Saturday and Sunday of things to do.
Thomas - I am arriving a few days early hence why I wanted to know things to do, I assumed during the actual conference there would be loads going on
-
How about coming to the UK, make it an easier discussion with the MD about the costs
-
I will see you there although I'd think there will be enough to do at MozCon
-
Ah perfect! I knew you'd guys would (and have) pull through on this one. Great lists! Andy should be all set.

Yes, I remember you. It was very nice to meet you! That was a fantastic event. I wish I could make it to Moz for every event, but it's a bit of a jump from Atlanta. You guys need to take the show on the road and bring an event to the Southeast. (Too bad "Mozcamp" is taken.)
-
Hi Laura!
I just realized I met you without making the connection to your Moz profile. I was the moderator in the Q&A breakout sessions you were in for part of the afternoon. Nice to have met you!

We've put together several blog posts over the years to help MozCon attendees explore Seattle: Mozzers' favorites, our mega post from 2013, Rand's personal recommendations, and Jon Colman's Seattle coffee guide.

I just got back from LocalUp Advanced, and I can tell you that the line at the original Starbucks was way out the door. I took a picture and then walked down the street to get a latte at Local Color Espresso Bistro. One of the locals at the Pike Place Market recommended it.
The Sky View Observatory was worth the money, even in rainy weather. I wanted to see Chihuly Garden and Glass, but it was closed for a special event while I was there. I'll check it out when I go back for MozCon (whenever I can make it to MozCon).

A little Nick Thune humor LOL I get it!

Ha haa great idea Chris! Way to always be SEOing lol
I heard the cafe's in Seattle are great. Never been but that's just what I heard.
-
You could go see cattle.
See Cattle, Seattle .. okay sorry bad joke but it was stuck in my head and had to be said.
I really hope you have fun, wish I could be there.
-
Sounds like a perfect excuse for a blog post Let us know what you found good when you get back.

Hi Ryan
The 'duck' ride sounds fun, I will do some research on that later.
Thats what I was hoping for either seasonal Mozcon attendances or mozzers advice.
I just don't like turning up to places and not really exploring the good parts.
-
Hey Andy. Seattle is great. I bet a bunch of mozzers could chime in on this one as they're there every day, but some other things to do: take a "duck" ride, go on a brewery tour, check out Pike Place Market... those are all classic Seattle activities.

[UPDATED] Any Q&A Regulars Attending MozCon Next Week?
[Update] Between here and the MozCon Facebook Group we've got a number of folks interested, so we're going to grab a table together for lunch on Tuesday at the conference. I'll try to mark it with something noticeable, or you can tweet me @thompsonpaul and I'll let you know where to find us. Hope to see lots of us there! [/Update] Hey gang - I'm wondering which Q&A regular (or irregular!) contributors are coming to MozCon next week? I know Dana Tan and Marie Haynes are for sure. So who else is coming? If there's a bit of a gang of us, it would be fun to connect up for a lunch table or a drink at some point during the event to meet each other face-to-face. Let me know in the comments, and if there are enough of us, I'll set something up. Paul

Roger, Can You Please Help Get Me in Mozcon?
I am a newbie to amazing tools like Moz! Yup, I joined in December and there is no looking back and no regrets. Well, until now. Here’s my sad story. I have been hearing about Mozcon for months. And I have told a number of colleagues that I am definitely going to that! Especially since I have two reasons to go all the way to the Northwest in July… My 21YO son is a competitive snowboarder and video blogger living at Mt. Hood during the summer. I can visit him and go to Seattle for Mozcon.

When I checked the site for cost and tickets, the early bird incentive had already expired, so I figured I would pick up my ticket in July. I went ahead and booked the hotel and airfare from North Carolina. So, I am all set.
At the beginning of the month, I go to buy the ticket and they are SOLD OUT!
OMG!
I am already coming and there are no tickets for sale.
I had no idea that a workshop at the big Seattle convention center would sell out.
I know you guys are cool and that you have a super connected following, but SOLD OUT?
I had no idea. I wait listed myself, but I have heard nothing.
So… I am at the crossroads here…
ROGER! Can you please find just one more ticket for the newbie in North Carolina??
Please...
Please help if you can. So disappointed in NC~ Terry0 -
I'm trying to track down Jessica Bowman's Keyword Research ROI Excel template from this year's MozCon. Does it exist?
This presentation was awesome - and I've just encountered a pitch that would be ideal for this type of analysis. In looking through my notes from MozCon I don't see a download link - nor can I find one in the presentation. It was the 11:30 - 12:00pm timeslot on day 3 of MozCon: http://www.seomoz.org/mozcon-live/agenda Can someone point me in the right direction? Cheers, J

Who is Mozcon for?
Hello! I own and operate an online retail store for batteries. Basically, I live and die on search engine ranking. I have been working with two well established SEO companies that have significantly strengthened my standings in both Bing and Google search engines. I have a good understanding of SEO and the various aspects that it is comprised of. My question to you guys - should I attend Mozcon? Is this event geared more towards marketing companies or is there any potential for a small SEO savvy business owner to attend? Stepping away from my company for four days is a rather large commitment at the current moment - I need to be certain this event is worth it for someone like me. Any thoughts? Mozcon Questions
Hello All, I'm a total newbie to SEOmoz and am totally addicted. I'm seriously considering going to Seattle Mozcon. I would really like to hear some feedback from newbies who went last year. It would be really nice to hear if you learned a lot and if you have incorporated some of your Mozcon education into your SEO strategy. It looks to be a pretty long event and every day seems to be completely filled with things I probably don't want to miss. That said, it would be a really large investment of my time. Is it worth all this time? Thanks!
