Adding Plaza name to G+?
-
I've recently been noticing local businesses adding the name of their plaza to their listing.
Does this reflect on consistency of NAP across the web if only the G+ Listing has that extra landmark?
And how would this effect the local map rankings?
Any answers would help.

Hi Vlad!
I see - you are talking about a contained business, but are asking about the address rather than the name of the business. In that case, I recommend looking up the business on smartystreets.com to see what the USPS deems as the official address of the business, and go with that version.

The listing i attached to the question is part of a Shopping Plaza, the name is by its self but the plaza name is part of the address. I couldn't find anything in the guidelines about plaza names in addresses.

Hi Vlad,
Are you talking about container locations, like a shopping mall? If your business is in one, see Google's guidelines here:
https://support.google.com/business/answer/3038177?hl=en
Expand the 'Names' section and read the section titled "Containment Information".
If I'm not quite understand, please, feel free to come back with further information on this.

Recently Google has amended their guidelines (see question and comment discussion here: http://moz.com/community/q/google-no-longer-allows-geographic-identifiers-in-business-name-consistency-problems) to disallow the use of geographic identifiers in the business name. What you're probably seeing is an attempt to comply with this while also still providing the information needed to differentiate one location from another for the convenience of customer (and to cross-comply with Facebook, which doesn't allow duplicate named listings).
As you can read in the comments, it's a bit of mess at the moment for businesses with multiple locations in close proximity (Starbucks as an example). At least you can get a bit more insight into why they're doing it from this though. Cheers!

Google My Business: Company listing is showing in search instead of division address - similar names/same city
Hi! I have a client whose company name is very similar to one if their company divisions. This division has multiple locations but its main location is in the same city as the parent company. The problem is that when you search for the division, the parent company shows up. The parent company has a physical address, but most users searching need to be going to the division address which takes customers. They are having problems with customers coming to the parent company address instead. I have made the Google My Business parent company page to show service areas instead of their business address. Yet, their listing still comes up first when searching for the division location. This is because of part of the parent company name is in the division name. My client wants users to be able to find the division more so than the parent company. Anyone had this issue before? Any tips would be great!

Update business name across 150+ locations
We have 150+ locations. The current names in GMB vary based on the branch. They may include a branch number or city location in the title or some variation of the company name. We'd like to update these to reflect our company wide branding and drop the branch #/location. Any ideas on the impact of this change?

How Does Google Consider a Business Name as Duplicate?
Hi, A problem about local business listings of one of my clients is confusing to me! The correct business name is: "Thomas Frank, DDS" This is how his business name appears in different local business listing sites: Dr Thomas W Frank, DDS Dr. Thomas Frank DDS Frank Thomas DDS Cosmetic Implant Laser Dentistry Frank Thomas W DDS ,... Do you think Google assumes these business names duplicate and wrong and they need to be updated by me? Which ones exactly? Or they are OK and it won't result to increase in his ranks? I should mention that everything else in his listings are OK but the business name. Thank you in advance for your kind helps,

Help with Google+ business name rules
I'm marketing a franchise gym business that has multiple locations within the same city. For the business name, I used to have it set as "Business Name" + City + Tagline. For example: "Ultimate Workout South Calgary Gym and Bootcamps". and "Ultimate Workout North Calgary Gym and Bootcamps". To comply with the google business naming rules I've updated all the listing to just business name. The problem is, now the local search results for my gym locations are confusing. Half the address is cut off in the results, the city is not displayed at all. And sometimes results from a neighbouring city are shown. Anyone have an idea on how to implement a strategy where people at a quick glance understand which location is best for them?
