Value of Outbound Links
-
I have read through the information on Link Building and I understand the importance of Inbound Links. Turning it on it head, how useful is it to provide outbound links on my web pages? And, do links from domains with higher domain authority get weighted higher?
I have thousands of pages that I could add new articles to which I think would add value, but I want to know whether it will help for SEO.

I'll add to this that generally you're adding keyword rich anchor text to these links. If I was Google, this is something I would look for when determining if a site is relevant. It likely is 1 of the 200+ factors and likely what site you are linking to and how relevant is are other factors.

Thank you for the reply. I had tried searching for the topic before posting but did not find anything. The post is a little short of detail but it is helpful.

No, i meant other domains linking your site.
About outlinks, try to link domains that are "healthy" and use "nofollow" attribute if you are not sure

Reviewing old content is always a good idea as you can trigger positive signals like freshness of content, higher specificity towards searches, and better linking. Too many people think of links as a one way street, trying to gain links to their site without giving much thought to who they should link out too. For example, let's say you have two articles on two site, both are identically the same (forget about duplicate content for a moment) and have the same numbers when it comes to inbound link strength, PA, DA, etc. The article that links out to better resources (high trust sites, specific examples, sites with frequently updated information) is going to rank higher than the article that does not link to any external resources. In other words, Google can understand the content of your page, but also the quality of that content by its two way link associations.

HI Troller
Outbound links are important. Eric Enge wrote a post for the Moz Blog here
What it comes down to is the way the interwebs where originally envisioned and how page rank is passed between sites. When you speak about a topic and you link to authoritative sites, this provides your USERS more information on the subject and you are doing them a service. As such the algorithms that assign page rank pick up on your link and pass some juice to your link(ee).
But it isn't just a juice leak, it actually helps your site become associated with more authoritative sites. It is natural for web developers and industries to link to similar sites when those sites provide more information than themselves. The idea is for it to be natural, I wouldn't recommend a strategy that links to authoritive sites on every page or even most pages. Rather consider yourself as a reader when do you appreciate a link to a more authoritative site? That is where your outbound FOLLOW links should be.
Hope this helps,
Don

I don't know that outbound links can help you in SEO. Outbound links can definitely hurt you, especially if Google detects that you have too many links or thinks your links are low quality (i.e. link farm).
Links tend to benefit the site you're linking to, provided you're not penalized for the reasons above

Thank you for the reply.
Just to be clear, these are links to other sites that I include on my site. Correct?

Hello,
the true is that google is against link building strategies, they follow it and penalize your website is they find out that you generated links in an "articial" way.
But it´s a fact that link building still works, very good to be honest
But before you start any link building strategy i would recommend you to read a lot about it, because if you don´t do it properly you are going to be for sure penalized.
Some link building tips i wrote somewhere last week, they may help you
- Anchors: Do not use the exacly keyword you want to rank as anchor, instead use long sentences including your kw.
- Variety: Do not get just "keyword" links, links with url, branch are also important.
- Nofollow: It´s very important to include nofollow links in your link profile.
- **Footer/sidebar: **Avoid links from footer/sidebar, specially if they are nofollow.
- **Variety of domains: **Get your links from different domains.
- Avoid links fromk penalized websites: It´s also very important to analyze the domains your site is going to be linked are healthy enough.Good luck

Spam links - what would you do?
Hello, A few months back our website was hacked which we noticed quickly and got fixed. However, there still is a lot of dodgy backlinks, linking to the spam pages. They come up in Webmaster Tools, Moz and SEM rush. According to the Moz Spam tool, a few of them have been given 7 flags which Moz suggests gives a 30% chance of being penalised by Google. The website has great rankings (position 1-3 in most targeted keywords) so I am scared of doing something that will harm the rankings, however I also aware that Google may do an update which could take these spam links into account. I have no experience of using the disavow tool but from reading up about it, it should only be used as a last resort. So my question is - what would you do?

Does this lose link value?
I have a link to my site from a post on an online forum. I now want to include the forum in a blog post about good industry-related e-forums. If I link to them in this article, will I lose the value from the link on the post in their forum, and could it be seen as spammy?

Why Links from Top Level Domains doesn't Pass Link Equity?
Hello, I have a doubt about Equity-Passing links report of OpensiteExplorer.org According to Sam Weber http://moz.com/community/users/432678 links which pass value from one page to another including followed 301 and Meta refresh links are under Equity-Passing links. I am surprising after looking at the links report generated by opensiteexplorer.org. Most of the article and directory links which have low DA and PA are under Equity-Passing links. Whereas websites like EzineArticle or Articlebase which have good DA and PA are not found in either Equity-passing links or under only nofollow category. Please suggest me if the report of Opensiteexplorer is not good enough or the links from the site like Ezine Article doesn’t pass the link equity. Thanks.

How much time does it take for the links to be forwarded to redirected link?
Hi there,
Link Building | | MoeezLodhi
Thank you for taking out some time for this question; I have changed the permalinks last week for a website.. I forgot to redirect old permalinks to the new one.. So I did 301 redirection, it has been 4-5 days since I did that but the links are not forwarded to the new Permalink so far.
How much time should I wait for the links to be forwarded to the new permalinks? Secondly, I am sure I have done the 301 redirect correctly, as when I go to the old url / permalink it directs me to the new permalink. So I am sure 301 is done correctly. Do I need to submit the sitemap again?0 -
Outbound links
We are working with a large, global customer that has asked us to link to their website from about 5,000 pages of our website. The links would either point to one page on their website, or they would point to specific pages throughout their website. Is this a bad thing from an SEO perspective, as in - would either of us be penalized from search engines for doing this?

Link Building
I noticed another SEO builds backlinks (tons) on a social media profile that then has a link to his client's site. Another site he builds backlinks are a bitly account that 301's to the clients account. Why would you do this? Is it that you can build links indiscriminately to build a page up in PR to 3-4-5 PR, then pass that higher PR to your site (safe). Is that PR building method better than placing 100's of smaller PR links on your site? It seems logical that if you passed in a tremendous amount of juice to juice a site up to PR4, you won't make your main site PR4 by JUST that link. You would need to build a lot of PR4 sites to make your site PR4. Why not just put all the backlinks on the main page instead of building up secondary social profiles etc... Please reveal this secret. I know a lot of SEOs are using this method. Help 🙂

Buy links
I know that many of you are against the whole thing with buying links. Your feelings put aside. Will it be better for my site to buy links or even do link exchange? Haven´t the crawlers been thought by now how to find these untrue links? I have read somewhere that the stop after 100 links, aren´t they smarter than that?
