Publisher Markup Testing
-
Does anyone know how to test publisher markup with the new Google structured data testing tool?
-
The good news is you're not crazy - I've tested a few sites I know for sure have rel=publisher implemented correctly and it's not showing the publisher markup in the tool. I imagine it's a bug in the tool (it's a notoriously buggy tool). The bad news is there's not much to be done but wait for the tool to be updated. In the meantime, you can spot-check your markup by googling your brand regularly - sooner or later you should see the publisher markup be added to your brand SERP. You can also check your Google+ page to make sure you get the little check mark that says "verified site." Sorry I don't have a better answer for you, but I don't think there is one!

Hi, unfortunately this is not possible yet in the new SDTT. I really hope Google will give us something to test these kind of strucuterd data , but for now you have to trust yourself.
if you do it like this way: http://www.vervesearch.com/blog/how-to-implement-the-relpublisher-google-authorship-mark-up/
you'll be fine!Grtz, Leonie

Breadcrumb Trail Markup
I've implemented breadcrumb trail markup on my site and I wanted to check that it's implemented correctly. Is it true that the breadcrumb does not link to the current page as this would be redundant, so it only links to 'ancestor' pages? (You can see for example on this page that the breadcrumb links to two levels below the home page): http://www.cobaltrecruitment.com/sectors/construction-property-engineering/real-estate-general-practice So basically breadcrumb trail should have a simple link for each level (except for the current page). Thanks,

Test site got indexed in Google - What's the best way of getting the pages removed from the SERP's?
Hi Mozzers, I'd like your feedback on the following: the test/development domain where our sitebuilder works on got indexed, despite all warnings and advice. The content on these pages is in active use by our new site. Thus to prevent duplicate content penalties we have put a noindex in our robots.txt. However off course the pages are currently visible in the SERP's. What's the best way of dealing with this? I did not find related questions although I think this is a mistake that is often made. Perhaps the answer will also be relevant for others beside me. Thank you in advance, greetings, Folko

Is it appropriate to use review markup for testimonials without numerical rankings
If a site has written testimonials from past clients, what is/is there an appropriate way to mark these up in schema since they don't have a specific numerical rating attached to them?

Blocking Test Pages Enmasse on Sub-domain
Hello, We have thousands of test pages on a sub-domain of our site. Unfortunately at some point, these pages were visible to search engines and got indexed. Subsequently, we made a change to the robots.txt file for the test sub-domain. Gradually, over a period of a few weeks, the impressions and clicks as reported by Google Webmaster Tools fell off for the test. sub-domain. We are not able to implement the no index tag in the head section of the pages given the limitations of our CMS. Would blocking off Google bot via the firewall enmasse for all the test pages have any negative consequences for the main domain that houses the real live content for our sites (which we would like to of course remain in the Google index). Many thanks

Has my Rich Snuppet attempt passed the test?
Good Morning from 16 degrees C still sunny Wetherby UK.... For the first time ive dived into Microformat,s schema.org Microdata call it what you will "Rich snippets" On this http://www.barrettsteel.com/ site on the bottom left I tweeked the address into a rich nippet, here is what i did: http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/barret-steel-converting-to-microformat-datacopy.jpg I then diligently tried to find out if it was valid by running it through http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets but I'm not 100% clear if its passed 😞 So my question is please can anyone verify if the snippet data is valid. Thanks in advance, David

Will password protecting my test sub-domain help keep the SEs from indexing it?
Hi, all. I'm working in an unfamiliar area here, so I hope someone can tell me if I'm out in left field. I am building a sub-domain called http://test.mysite.com, so that I can upload a client's still-under-construction site while working on it. When completed, it'll go up on his server, replacing his old site. Obviously, I want to ensure that it doesn't get indexed while it's on my test platform. A friend suggested that I password it with htaccess and htpasswd, since we can never be certain the SEs will obey site directives. My question is, what do you think would be the best (and hopefully, simplest) way to accomplish this? I'm no code-monkey, so "simple" is a big plus! Doc By the way, the platform will be Wordpress CMS.
