Country specific results
-
Our country specific pages reside as a subfolder under the main domain. So for example in US it's /us/, in Canada it's /ca/. What we've noticed is that Google Canada is showing US pages in some of the search results. Does anyone have experience with how to direct Google to display country specific page results?
-
My thought is that for some reason, with the Canadian and US proximity, the algo could see the US page as stronger. Do you see in Analytics for the few times this happens, the organic traffic to that page, is it border Canadian towns? It's definitely not perfect with bordering countries, but if you are geo-targeted correctly and the content is different, then overall you should not have major issues.
If you'd like, tell me a few terms and your domain and I'll check it out.

Yes the main domain is .com. These pages are not new. Been around for at least a decade now. The content is different. What's surprising is that it's only few of our top keywords, so only a small percentage.

How long has the Canada section been up? Is it identical to the US section? What is your main domain? .com?
-
Thanks for the response. I checked with our analytics person and it's set up correctly in Webmasters. However, we are still getting US results in Canada for certain terms even though that content exist on the Canadian pages. Guess their algorithm is not perfect.

Hi there
What you can do is setup specific profiles for each subdomain in Webmaster Tools and take advantage of geo-targeting in WMT.
You can do the same in Bing Webmaster Tools.
If the content is the same on these two versions, you can also take advantage of hreflang.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

How can I identify links that point to a specific landing page with a specific anchor text on my own website?
I am trying to identify buttons and links that point to a specific landing page on our website that have a certain word in the anchor text and I would like to know the referring page URL too. Does anybody have an idea on how to do this? We have above a hundred landing pages and I would rather not go through them one by one 😄 Thanks for the help

My main site is www.isacleanse.com.au (Obviously targeted to Australian Market) and also www.isacleanse.co.nz targeted to NZ. The main Keywords im targeting are 'Isagenix' for both and also Isagenix Australia, Isagenix Perth, Sydney (Australian cities) and Isagenix NZ, Isagenix New Zealand, Isagenix Auckland etc.. for NZ The Australian site gets a lot more traffic and Australian market gets a lot more searches - I also have a section www.isacleanse.com.au/isagenix-new-zealand/ on the Australian site. The question is am I best off redirrecting the .co.nz domain completley to the Australian Domain to give it extra SEO Juice?0 -
Search Results not Updating (Title, Description, and URL)
Issue: I recently discovered that my site was accessible by both HTTP and HTTPS. The site has used a rel canonical tag to point to the HTTP version. Google+ was pointing to HTTPS though. The title, description, and URL shown in the results for the homepage is HTTPS, other pages are HTTP, etc... Steps taken to Resolve: This week I did the following... 301'd all non-checkout pages to the HTTP version Switched Google+ URL to HTTP version and added new post with an HTTP link to the homepage. Used webmaster tools to recrawl and reindex the site Resubmitted XML Sitemap No luck... the site is still not updating... any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all! Site is Here

Link exchanges of specific blogs work if relevant?
Hello, I've always wondered if I have a tech blog and wrote about "why Droid phones are better than Iphones", i would need more links pointed to my specific blog. Doing so, i find another blog that's reputable with high domain authority that talks about the SAME blog/subject. Is it wise and good for SEO if i contact the blogger and have each other reference each other's blog with the anchor text link as the brand name in our respective blogs? It's a typical link exchange, but this is more niche. Would this help my efforts? And would Google accept our good faith linking to a great article vice versa. Thanks, Shawn

Does having a video rich snippet keep your result from being top 5 in Google?
It makes sense to me that Google wouldn't want a rich result above the fold in a SERP that would compete with their PLA's. All my videos are on my product pages, so the queries that produce them always have PLAs in the SERPs. I've been run a few tests on this and it seems as though these snippets keep my result below the fold on the SERP (position 5-10). Thoughts on this? Experience?

Implementation of AJAX Crawling Specifications
My URL is: http://www.redfin.com/TX/Austin/8413-Navidad-Dr-78735/home/31224372 We're using Google's AJAX crawling system, per the documentation here. https://developers.google.com/webmasters/ajax-crawling/The example page above requires JavaScript to display content; it includes in the source. We have a lot of pages like this on our site.We expect Google to query us at this URL:http://www.redfin.com/TX/Austin/8413-Navidad-Dr-78735/home/31224372?escaped_fragment=This page renders correctly with JavaScript disabled. Are we doing this correctly? There are some small differences between the escaped_fragment HTML snapshot and the JavaScript-generated content. Will this cause any problems for us?We ask because there was a period of about two months (from October 4th to Dec 29th) during which Google's crawler radically decreased the hits to our escaped_fragment URLs; it's maybe recovering now, but maybe it isn't, and I wanted to be absolutely sure we're doing this correctly.
