Display URL changed for Organic Regional Searches?
-
Hey. We currently have a US version of the site (/us) which is displaying in US Google Search. However the /us domain is also showing for our co.uk Google searches. Is there a way I can ensure the /us is only displayed for US searches?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Hi,
Would you be able to post a URL? Maybe there is something you have missed with the implementation. More eyes, see more.
If you cant/wont post it publicly, send me a PM.

Hi Keszi,
Thank you for your response. I forgot to mention that we do currently have hreflang tags in place with the x-default set to our .com page. However it seems that our /us page is working as the default. I have tested other country.languages and /us seems to appear. I also should mention that this is when searching for a specific keyword rather than our brand name.

Hi there,
This is one of the reasons why the hreflang tag was created. You can learn more about this here: https://mza.bundledseo.com/learn/seo/hreflang-tag
Also I would advise you to read Dave's post about it: https://mza.bundledseo.com/blog/hreflang-behaviour-insights
I hope this will clear it a little bit.

Sudden disappearance from google organic ranking
I have been ranked in top 5 for all relevant search terms for years. I have been in business for 25 years and am modestly speaking the best in our field. The name of my company is "Alaska Yacht Charters" and suddenly I have disappeared from Google search. Google "alaska yacht charters" and I am nowhere to be found. This all occured within days of my suspending my adwords account which I felt I didn't need because of my great organic ranking. What has happened?Geoff Wilson www.alaskanyachtcharters.com

What shall we do to increase organic traffic for both the sites?
We have 2 English language bookselling websites targeted for USA and UK audience with some content variations but 60%-70% of the content on site remains the same. The site is hosted in USA. One is hosted on brandname.co.uk (for United Kingdom) and one is on brandname.com(For United States) The precautions that we have already taken to save it from being marked duplicates are: used rel=alternate element for all product detail pages currency in both the sites are different that is GBP and USD Geotarget settings done for USA and UK respectively through webmaster tools Launched backlink campaign to gain from local sites and directory respectively have tried to differentiate the product by using different product specific terms like Publishing Year: vis a vis published in: Author Vis a vis Written by Format vis a vis binding type Add to cart vis a vis add to basket and so on What remains the same: 1. Product detail pageTitle 2. Product detail page Meta Description 3. Product Name- That is Title of the book which cannot be changed anyways 4. About the product text –The memo or “About the Book” that comes along with the book and is same across each booksellers site. This is impossible to be differentiated as the database have more than 3 Million books brandname.com which is older (2 Yrs) of the two has traffic around 2500-3000 daily visits while the brandname.co.uk which is 5 months old has 150-200 daily visitors. Both sites have around 4 Million pages. Need suggestions what are we doing wrong and what extra can be done to boost organic traffic?

Changing the page a term ranks for
Hi all, I hope you can help advise me of the best way to change the page that is ranking for a particular keyword/term. Is it just a case of on-page optimizing the term/keyword on the new-page and getting good links/traffic to that page and leaving the old one as it is, or is some sort of "de-optimization" of the old page a something that could help? Thanks.

Too Many Links On Internal Search Pages
A client has a too many link warning being flagged in SEOmoz. The problem is that most of the pages on the site are lists of tickets for an event etc. Is there a good way to fix the site from having too many links on pages like this http://www.easyseat.com/venue/yankee-stadium-tickets-for-sale.aspx when the user experience requires a long list of links so people can find an event?

Is it worth changing urls with underscores?
A few pages on one of my sites have underscores linking keywords rather than hyphens (keywords_and_keyword rather than keyword-and-keyword). Possibly from a time before I knew hyphens were preferred... One of the pages ranks well, and drives a good amount of traffic. The others do not do so well, but are still within the top 10 landing pages for the site. Is it worth me changing the underscores to hyphens (setting up 301 redirects first of course) or doesn't it make that much difference?
