Image impressions fall drastically
-
Hi everyone,
On June 15th, 2015 we saw a huge drop(70%) in image impressions and clicks for website: http://www.zakoopi.com/
What can be the possible reason for that?
Please let me know what can be done to improve the impressions.

Go to one of the image SERPs that used to bring you traffic. Scroll to the bottom of the first page and see if you find a notice like this....
In response to multiple complaints we received under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have removed 3 results from this page. If you wish, you may read the DMCA complaints that caused the removals at ChillingEffects.org: Complaint, Complaint.
That is what occurs when people use my images.

Hi Ravi, did you see EGOL's question?

DMCA? Do you own all of those images?

Please have a look on our website

As SEO people we are programmed to follow these trends and look for causality, both so we can understand the effects of the changes we make and so we can spot emerging problems. This is clearly a very important process. Sometimes, however, I am sure that peaks and troughs occur as part of the random mix of behaviour which leads people to visit our sites. Chaos theory clearly shows that in any truly random sytem patterns, peaks and troughs can appear. I have also noticed that when the weather changes for the better I get less traffic on my ecommerce site; I suppose people go outside instead of spending time on the internet.

Why are my site images hosted by secureservercdn.net?
All of my image links are hosted on secureservercdn.net. for example, if i go to a webpage, mydomain.com/blog/blog-post and right click any image with a "copy image address" the images are all linking to secureservercdn.net/blablabla rather than mydomain.com/wp-uploads/blalblabla. this cannot be good for SEO. Any ideas why this would be? My site is hosted through GoDaddy, is it on their end? Thanks, Ryan

Moving from http to https: image duplicate issue?
Hello everyone, We have recently moved our entire website virtualsheetmusic.com from http:// to https:// and now we are facing a question about images. Here is the deal: All webpages URLs are properly redirected to their corresponding https if they are called from former http links. Whereas, due to compatibility issues, all images URLs can be called either via http or https, so that any of the following URLs work without any redirect: http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/images/icons/ResponsiveLogo.png https://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/images/icons/ResponsiveLogo.png Please note though that all internal links are relative and not absolute. So, my question is: Can that be a problem from the SEO stand point? In particular: We have thousands of images indexed on Google, mostly images related to our digital sheet music preview image files, and many of them are ranking pretty well in the image pack search results. Could this change be detrimental in some way? Or doesn't make any difference in the eyes of Google? As I wrote above, all internal links are relative, so an image tag like this one: Hasn't changed at all, it is just loaded in a https context. I'll wait for your thoughts on this. Thank you in advance!

Image URL Change Catastrophe
We have a site with over 3mm pages indexed, and an XML sitemap with over 12mm images (312k indexed at peak). Last week our traffic dropped off a cliff. The only major change we made to the site in that time period was adding a DNS record for all of our images that moved them from a SoftLayer Object Storage domain to a subdomain of our site. The old URLs still work, but we changed all the links from across our site to the new subdomain. The big mistake we made was that we didn't update our XML sitemap to the new URLs until almost a week after the switch (totally forgot that they were served from a process with a different config file). We believe this was the cause of the issue because: The pages that dropped in traffic were the ones where the images moved, while other pages stayed more or less the same. We have some sections of our property where the images are, and have always been, hosted by Amazon and their rankings didn't crater. Same with pages that do not have images in the XML sitemap (like list pages). There wasn't a change in geographic breakdown of our traffic, which we looked at because the timing was around the same time as Pigeon. There were no warnings or messages in Webmaster Tools, to indicate a manual action around something unrelated. The number of images indexed in our sitemap according Webmaster Tools dropped from 312k to 10k over the past week. The gap between the change and the drop was 5 days. It takes Google >10 to crawl our entire site, so the timing seems plausible. Of course, it could be something totally unrelated and just coincidence, but we can't come up with any other plausible theory that makes sense given the timing and pages affected. The XML sitemap was updated last Thursday, and we resubmitted it to Google, but still no real change. Anyone had a similar experience? Any way to expedite the climb back to normal traffic levels? When Is It Necessary to GEOTAG an Image?
In local SEO practices, is it best to geotag all images or only specific ones? For example, if we have images of our retail store on our G+ page (or on our About Us page) it seems like common sense to geotag those images. However, if you're a local photographer do you want to geotag all of your images or only images shot in locations where you'd like to rank?

Competitor keyword image alt tag on their templates company logo
A competitor with maybe a couple of hundred pages throughout their website has recently added an image alt tag of a keyword to their company logo which links back to there homepage. The homepage is not particularly optimized towards this keyword and do not use the keyword within the text content at all apart from within the page title, So the image and link destination are not relevant towards the keyword. They seem to rank well for this competitive keyword in our industry using what i see as a slightly unethical internal linking strategy. We are currently working on some solid content to compete with this, but i was just wanting some advice on the situation, How does Google not see this as manipulative having the same link in the template from each page?

Headline tag for images in Photoshelter
Hello! I use Photoshelter for my commercial photography website: http://www.ioansaidphotography.co.uk/ I'm trying to make it better re SEO and all that by filling as much information as I can. I'm using Picworkflow who give you a title, description and keywords for every picture.. But in Photoshelter's IPTC metadata editor, they put an SEO tag by Headline (essentially saying it's important) and not by title. Do you think it's good/useful/safe to use the info Picworkflow gave me for title and put it in Headline? PS: This is for the pictures individually and not the pages. Thanks!

Image and Content Management
My boss has decided that on our new website we are building, that he wants all content and images managed by not allowing copying content and/or saving images. Some of the information and images is proprietary, yet most is available for public viewing, but never the less, he wants it prohibited from copy and/or saving. We would still want to keep the content indexable and use appropriate alt tags etc... I wanted to find out if there is any SEO reason and facts to why this would not be a good idea?Would implementing code to prohibit (or at least make it difficult) to save images and copy content, penalize us?
