Does Domain Authority Consider Social Signals?
-
I was curious if Domain Authority considers social signals.
"We calculate this metric by combining all of our other link metrics—linking root domains, number of total links, MozRank,MozTrust, etc.—into a single score."
Is Social included in the etc? I know you have some social data displayed in the results.

Thanks, the reason I ask is we're updating an SEO audit snapshot tool we have and we want to use the minimum amount of data points to get a score. I was hoping that DA could be used to represent link/social signals as a whole. Since scoring social is a bit tricky.
We want to get away from trying to score everything. Since the more things you try to score the more room for error their really is.
This would serve as a snapshot of SEO performance and not an in-depth analysis.
We broke our snapshot analysis into 4 parts:
- Website Influence - How influential does a website appear (links, social etc -This is where DA comes in)
- Satisfaction Rate - Do visitors appear to be satisfied with the website (Reverse of bounce rate)
- Brand Recognition - Is there a search demand for the brand.
- Search Visibility - Is Google rewarding the website with search visibility?
We felt if we could score these three things it'd give us a snapshot of how a website could be doing. A deeper analysis would be required to get a more accurate picture.

Hi there!
While I'm not really able to give out the entire recipe for DA, it's my understanding that social signals are not a factor in this metric. Since social signals are not "link metrics", I think it's safe to say that they are not in the DA algorithm based on the blurb that was quoted above :).

I agree.
Still waiting to hear someone at Moz

I believe that social signals have both a direct and indirect impact on organic search rankings. Direct impact comes from:
1. Number of people that like your brand on Facebook
2. Number of Facebook shares
3. Number of Twitter followers
4. Number of tweets mentioning your brand name or including a link to your website
5. Number of people that “have you in their circles” (Google+)Indirect impact comes from:
1. Increased inbound links and citations due to improved online visibility/brand awareness
2. Increased positive reviews (in Google Local , Yelp, etc.) due to happier customers
3. Decreased bounce rate, higher time on site, and more repeat visitors to your websiteA brand's social media "voice" defines its image and distinguishes it from a distant entity to a hip, trendy, brand.
Conclusion:- when people share your content across social media it means they like the article which was helpful to them. This means your site should be considered authority. Google exactly consider that.

Hey,
As per my understandings, Domain authority doesn't calculate social signal. DA is something that completely related to "Links" and only "Links".
For Social Signals, you can see OSE that displays the amount of likes, tweets or +1s a URL received.
Let's wait for the Support staff's response

Moz error with domain and page authority if no www in my domain
Hello, so our domain is website.com and we do not use www in our domain. Now moz shows our page authority as huge (website. Com) and domain authority very low. But our domain is our page that we rank. Is this due to the fact that we use no www and we rank our main index page? Am I correct? Thanks!

Why Page Authority = 1
Hi everyone! Long time reader, first time-submitter. I'm working with a client who has an old, established domain and brand name, decent DA score (43 overall, 52 for their home page), but almost all the rest of the pages of their small-ish website have a PA of 1. The domain itself has been around since 2000. The pages ranking at a 1 are not new URLs, they have a sitemap submitted to Google, are not being blocked by robots.txt, there's no auto-redirects or meta-refresh, and the response code for all pages is 200. What else am I missing? What could be causing this? TIA for the help!

So I have not been on Moz for a while but I have always liked the ability to compare multiple domains in Open site explorer. Has Moz removed this feature. if so... why?

Permanent 301 - Domain Authority
Hi, we created a new website which we also gave a new url.
Link Explorer | | DIGIHOUSE
We made a permanent 301 for the complete domain. www.digihouse.at -> www.digihouse-werbeagentur.at Google checked that and we rank minimum as good as with the old domain.
But in MOZ Tools the Domain Authority is very bad now.
So i think the 301 influences Google but not the Moz Tools?
The Domain Authority will not be inherited in Moz Tools? thxChris0 -
How long does it take for moz to index new domain?
Hi, Two months ago we changed our site www.jicht.nl to jicht.nl. Everthing is redirected properly but the page authority remains 1. How long does is take rogerbot to index the site without www? Google rankings are also dropping so there might be a bigger issue. Thanx

Expired domains and OSE?
If a domain expires will it remain in OSE indefinitely and show external backlinks? Or at some point does the domain get removed from OSE?
