HTacess 301 redirect with special characters
-
Hello moz community !
I would to make a special 301 redirection through my htaccess file. I am a total noob concerning regexp and 301 redirection.
I would like to redirect(301) this url :
http://www.legipermis.com/stages-points/">http://www.legipermis.com/stages-points/</a></p>;
yes yes it's in the index of google, this strange url includes the last ;
to
http://www.legipermis.com/stages-points/
I have already include a canonical tag by security, i would like to remove url with a 301 redirection and by remove this url through GWT (but the removal tool can't "eat' this kind of URL)
Please consider the fact that i am not an expert about 301 redirections and regexps. No 301 redirect generator works properly for such a strange URL (which triggers content duplication corrected anyway with canonical tag).
Thanks for your help.

You should just need to put quotes around the URI:
Redirect 301 "/stages-points/">http://www.legipermis.com/stages-points/</a></p>" http://www.legipermis.com/stages-points/
This looks like it's a bad linked formed on the site though and I'd try to find that and clean it up.

Hello Elodie,
The only characters I've ever had trouble with on page-to-page redirects are equal signs (because = is an operator) and question marks (because ? typically indicate a query string). The equal signs have to be escaped out, and the question marks require use of mod_rewrite.
I don't see either of those things in your URL. Have you tried a simple redirect yet? Like this...
Redirect 301 /stages-points/">http://www.legipermis.com/stages-points/</a></p> http://www.legipermis.com/stages-points/
If that doesn't work my advice would be to hire a developer. You can probably find one who can implement the redirects for under $50 on a site like Rent-a-Coder or Freelancer.

.aspx 301 redirects on Business Catalyst
Hi I am have moved my website from .aspx to business catalyst. I have found out (when the site already migrated!) that Business Catalyst does not support .aspx 301 redirects. On a previous post from 2012 (https://mza.bundledseo.com/community/q/aspx-files-will-simply-not-work-as-redirects) , someone has recommended a java script re direct. I have tried this but google search console is classing this as a 404 resulting in no link juice and my website dropping pages on google. I have tried to do 301 redirects at my server level but wont work. Anyone know a solution? Thanks in advance Keith

Page for page 301 redirects from old server to new server
Hi guys:
Technical SEO | | cindyt-17038
I have a client who is moving their entire ecommerce site from one hosting platform (Yahoo Store) to another (BigCommerce) and from one domain to another. The old domain is registered with the Yahoo as of yesterday and we have redirected the old domain (at the domain level) to the new domain. However, we are having trouble getting the pages to redirect page for page. Currently they are all redirecting to the new domain home page. We did just move the old domain from GoDaddy to Yahoo yesterday thinking this would solve it however as of this morning the old pages are still redirecting to the home page of the new domain. To complete the 301 redirect picture, we uploaded the redirects (all relative links for both from and to) to BigCommerce. And while the domain was hosted at GoDaddy with a redirect to the new domain, they were working. We moved the domain to Yahoo because of email issues thinking it should still work. Is it possibly just a waiting game now as the change populates across the DNS? old url to test:

Site blocked by robots.txt and 301 redirected still in SERPs
I have a vanity URL domain that 301 redirects to my main site. That domain does have a robots.txt to disallow the entire site as well. However, for a branded enough search that vanity domain still shows up in SERPs and has the new Google message of: A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt I get why the message is there - that's not my , my question is shouldn't a 301 redirect trump this domain showing in SERPs, ever? Client isn't happy about it showing at all. How can I get the vanity domain out of the SERPs? THANKS in advance!

301 redirects twice
We currently have some 301 redirects set up on our site however sometimes a page will redirect twice before reaching the final location. Is this OK from an SEO perspective to have a page redirect twice or should we concentrate on reducing it to one?

Redirects
Hello, My question is: how important is it to wait for the a redirect to get seen and cached before you take down the old page? More in depth: my old platform has seriously limited my ability to add sitemaps and make edits to htacces. I just want to change nameservers (which will delete everything on there) and upload the htaccess is that alright? Another way of saying it: when redirecting a page, is it necessary for google to see the old page before it is deleted? Thanks Tyler
