GWT Change of Address not working
-
I work at a .jsp site where we have vanity urls that 301 to the www,domainname.com/index.jsp?c_id. Now when I do a change of address in GWT it tells me that it can't fulfill the change of address cause the redirect goes to www.domainname.com/index.jsp instead of www.domainname.com. I could create a GWT account for www.domainname.com/index.jsp/ but that is a 404 (it needs the c_id). How would I do my change of address?
-
I think this is true, and it is probably not a good idea to create a WMTs account to anything other than the main domain.
-
From my experience, the change of address functionality had little effect during migrations. I would not worry about it too much, as long as you have properly working 301s.

Hi Matt,
Can you not remove the redirect temporarily while you sort the change of address over?

Webmaster Tools equivalent to Change Default Address found in Analytics
Hello all! We're changing from http to https. In Google Analytics there is an option to change the default address so we keep our historical data. I can't find a similar option in Webmaster Tools though. Do you have to setup a new property or is there an option to change your current one? Thanks in advance!

Loss of referral traffic after change of CMS, host
I have a client that changed from MoveableType to Wordpress. He also changed from a dedicated server to WP Engine. He may have blocked search engines for a week or two, so his organic traffic is down but only by 25%. He's 301 redirecting all of the old pages. The mystery is that his referral traffic from Google is down 90%. It's a popular blog, so that's thousands. It's been going on a month now. Anyone seen this before?

IP address changed, subdomains added - how will affect?
Hello, Two weeks ago we have changed IP address of our website, also we've added new subdomains for static content (like img.domain.com & js.domain.com) and changed the links on the site accordingly. The old IP is also working and the old links are accessible too. For some reason, since the change, we see a SE (google) traffic constant drop everyday. I've read only Google's support (http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=34437) that such change shouldn't affect the ranking anyhow. On the other hand I've consulted with SEO people and was told that such change may affect in the close new feature (for couple of weeks) and then bring the ranking back. I would like to hear another opinion, I want to get back to our board with approved answers. Please advice. Thanks.

How long to wait before judging changes?
After making SEO focused changes (adding/removing internal links, changing nofollow attributes, changing titles, etc) how long should I wait to "judge" the effects of those changes on my ranking?

SEOMoz & GWT crawl error conflicting info
Site im working on has zero crawl errors according to SEOMoz (it did previously have lots since ironed out) but now looking at GWebmaster Tools saying 5000 errors. Date of those are not that recent but Webmaster Tools line graph of errors still showing aprox 5000 up to yesterday There is an option to bulk action/tick them all as fixed so thinking/hoping GWT just keeping a historical record that can now be deleted since no longer applicable. However i'm not confident this is the case since still showing on the line graph. Any ideas re this anomalous info (can i delete and forget in GWT) ? Also side question I take it its not possible to link a GA property with a GWT account if created with different logins/accounts ? Many Thanks Dan

Analytics goal funnel regular expression not working
Hi Guys can anyone point me in the right direction. My funnels used to work fine until our app team decided to add variables in a directory structure instead of a query string. I need to be able to track page steps that now look like this Step 1 = /Reservation/Search/Var1/Var2
Reporting & Analytics | | apolloseo
Step 2 = /Reservation/Quote/Var1/Var2 I've set up this but it's not working Step 1 = /Reservation/Search.*
Step 2 = /Reservation/Quote.* What am I doing wrong?0
