SEO: Directory Listing Help with Two business locations in different states
-
Hello!
I am in the process of building my second location, and will be moving to Nashville TN. My first location is located in ohio, and I am changing my primary location to nashville, but still want to keep my clients in Ohio... At least for the first year.
As for directory building, what is the best option? 1.) Should I create two separate directory listings for each location and then direct www.domain.com to Nashville directory, and then www.domain.com/ohio-wedding-photographer/ to the Ohio listing in the directory?
Or do you create one directory and mention I have offices in both Ohio and nashville?
Is it bad to have two listings for each location if they have different addresses and phone numbers?
Thank you!

Hi Morgan!
Just to clarify, you are opening a new office in TN but are still maintaining an office in Ohio? Or, are you saying you will no longer have a physical office in Ohio? Please, do be sure to explain this as it matters a great deal.

If you are running 2 branches now, with face-to-face contact with your customers, you are entitled to 2 Google+ Local pages - one for each branch. You are also eligible to build a unique set of citations for each of these offices on the various local business data platforms. You are not eligible to build 2 listings per branch on any platform, including Google. Yes, both branches need their own local area code phone numbers.

If you will no longer be maintaining an office in Ohio, then you cannot continue to list it in Google and should not have a citation set for it. Rather, after you've moved, you should update your existing Google+ Local page to reflect your new office location and update your other citations accordingly.
Hope this helps, but please feel free to provide further details if I've misunderstood any part of your scenario. Also, do refer to the Google guidelines ... they help a ton in matters like these: https://support.google.com/business/answer/3038177?hl=en

Changing Business Address on Google Profile & Citations
Hello, I'm looking to change a business address to a new one on a Google business profile (still in the same area but on a different street). So, I'll need to update all citations and website with the new address - Is it recommended to update the citations & website first, and then change the address on the Google business profile, or vice-versa? Looking to do this as safely as possible without negatively impacting the rankings much. I'm seeing a lot of conflicting information on this. Thanks in advance.

What's the best way to create keyword tracking lists for local SEO?
I have a question for the local SEO crowd: when it comes to creating keyword tracking lists, what are your best practices in reference to tracking from a set location? Do you typically create national keyword lists that include the location operator in each term or are you better creating a list of locally-tracked keywords around a business' location and dropping the location operator from the keyword? Or some combination of the two? To clarify, if I had an example business of a realtor in Chatham, MA, would I want to track -"realtor in chatham ma" (national)

-"realtor in chatham ma" (with the location set to Chatham, MA)
-"realtor" (with the location set to Chatham, MA) Or some combination of all of the above? Right now, I track waaaay too many keyword variants on my local campaigns! Hoping there's a better way from some more-seasoned Moz users. Thanks in advance!2 -
What markup/schema is "responsible" for location pin in mobile rich snippets?
Howdy, Saw this new(?) feature in mobile rich snippets (attached here). Anyone knows what part of schema (or whatever else) is making this appear? P.S. From all responses, and some thinking, it looks like the answer would be "who knows", as usual with Google. But most likely it would be related to usual LocalBusiness addressLocality itemprop. 0739Z5v

Google "pigeon" update, is Google turning search over to all the directories?
The recent news re an update by Google is beginning to show some interesting changes. The first major piece on this came from SearchEngineLand and had top local people like Linda Buquet commenting. Another post on this regarding a "yelp" correction from Search Engine Land was also illuminating. With the real estate vertical, I am seeing zero local companies in Houston, in the first couple of SERP's, other than the large MLS system, HAR. The others showing are all real estate directories that are nationwide like realty com, zil low, tru lia, etc. You literally cannot get a local brokerage to show on the first two pages of serps using any high volume keyword.

Does this mean Google is choosing to begin relegating its search results to the directories? Obviously, there is no right answer, but it certainly means those of us in the agency world need to be very careful (yes, even more so) going forward. I appreciate your comments. Robert2 -
Is it necessary to implement hreflang for translated content on different ccTLDs?
Hello there, new MOZ here. I hope someone of the international SEO MOZs can share their opinion on a doubt I have. I've been reading a lot about hreflang and I understand the importance for subdomains and subfolders not only for targeting the same language in different countries (.com, .co.uk, .ca, etc) but also for websites partially or fully translated in other languages. However for these I've always seen examples where you want to have hreflang with subdomains or folders e.g. ru.example.com ; example.com/ru What if I have my translated websites on different ccTLDs - i.e. example.com example.ru. example.br example .fr Do I still need to implement hreflang or in this case is not necessary?

2 Word EMD's - Good of bad for SEO
Hello Again Moz Folks, I have a domain: www.edmontonweb.ca
Local SEO | | Web3Marketing87
It is currently on page 2 and I'm trying to figure out ways to improve its ranking. Because it is an EMD, I considered forwarding it to www.launchwebdesign.ca Considering there is existing Domain Authority on edmontonweb.ca, is this a good move?
Would forwarding the domain transfer DA to launchwebdesign.ca? Thanks, Anton0
