Linkpage spam score
-
Hi Guys,
I've got a linkpage at it has quite a high spamscore on opensiteexpolorer. The high spamscore is so high because of lots of outgoing links. The link site has do-follow links to relevant pages.
My question is: Will my spamscore descrease when i set some links on no follow?
Thanks!

Thanks fot the answers. Beacause it's a linkpage i get the spamscore from:
Thin Content
A subset of pages within this subdomain have little content.Large Number of External Links
A subset of pages within this subdomain has a large number of external links.Anchor Text Heavy Page
There's a high ratio of anchor text compared to content text.External Links in Navigation
There's a large number of external links within sidebars and footers. No Contact Info
None of the pages crawled contain an email address or links to a social profile. So i was guessing the only way to get it a little bit lower is to add some no-follows.

Hi there!
I just want to add this post to Umar's recommendation of that Whiteboard Friday.
Also, if your site has a very high spam score, you may want to look into the other potential factors, beyond just the large number of external links. You should be able to see them in Spam Analysis.

Hey,
Only the number of outgoing links does not determined the Spam Score but the overall Link anatomy matters.
And yes, the spam score will decrease if you get the no follow links from those sources.
Check out this WBF of Rand about how Spam Score actually works:

I think you should check the quality of those links only out going links donot increase spam score.

Spam sites republish a article with 'money keyword' anchor text and causing a pentalty.. how to prevent.
About 6 weeks ago we had a DA50 / PA50 homepage site publish an article on our company which included a money keyword anchor text to our site.. Great. Once this happened we shot up the SERP for this term, but quite a few other spam / crawler sites seem to automatically republish everything this DA50 site publishes. This didnt seem to be a problem up until a couple of weeks ago, but now with the new penguin update it seems we have been slapped with a penalty, for having 20 sites all with the same article and anchor text. (the rest of our profile is pretty natural, so this is the main culprit for the penalty) Im now going to write to all the webmasters apart from the DA50 site, and ask them to remove the article, failing that ill have to disavow them. For future reference what is there a way of avoiding this issue of spam sites republishing a propper article and triggering a penalty.

Is it really possible to clean up a website from spam links?
I have an acquaintance/customer, who is a politician in Italy, he had a website under his name as domain firstnamelastname.it (where firstname and lastname are the firstname and lastname of the guy). He used it during his campaign, then he forgot about the existance and didn't pay the bill to the isp. I don't know what happen exactly, I assume someone registered it after it expired and started using it for some fraudulent purpose, because checking the backlink profile I can see the first backlinks from 2013 are legit and coming from relevant sources (local newspapers), but all the following 300+ links are spam, using keywords like "louis vuitton", "ralph lauren", and so on... Right now the domain is in status "deleted", so I could just register it again, disavow the spammy links and had recycle it. But I am scared as hell. I never had to disavow a single link in all my life, and I don't know if it is going to really clean up the domain from any possible google penalization. Is it?

A website with a spam score of 5 is back linking to me. How important is to get that link removed?
There is a website that OSE has identified with a spam score of 5, it back links to me with a very specific key word. How important is it to have them remove those links?

Dealing with spam link attack
Last year I noticed that overnight my site was backlinked by 1000's of spammy links.

All with same anchor text and all really awful unrelated sites (law, money, mobile phone, pr0n sites, etc). I've not been hit with any penalties (or at least been messaged with anything to that effect), and I still float around top 10 for that anchor text, but I don't like having 1000's of spammy links with exact anchor text pointing to my site. Especially when all the other competitors have a fraction of the number of links. What would be the best way to combat these links before they do serious damage to my rankings.

Google disavow DMOZ/ODP spam sites?
Hello Looking into links to my one of my sites (over 10 years old) I've found that along with some bad spammy links, around 80% of my inbound links are from directories that are exact copies of ODP. Should I be concerned about / asking for removal / disavowing these links? Normally I would be trying to get rid of low quality links like this, but since they are ODP clones I'm not sure it's worth the effort. The sites openly state that their data is from ODP (Open Directory Project), but does this mean Google ignores them? I could spend my whole life swatting these links. Thoughts? Edit: I'm hoping for suggestions that specifically reference the ODP clone site situation. I did not create these links, I guess I should have made that more clear.
