Why is Google only indexing 3 of 8 pages?
-
Hi everyone, I have a small 8 page website I launched about 6 months ago. For the life of me I can not figure out why google is only indexing 3 of the 8 pages. The pages are not duplicate content in any way. I have good internal linking structure. At this time I dont have many inbound links from others, that will come in time. Am I missing something here? Can someone give me a clue?
Thanks Tim

I know the feeling, it's the same story with me and my own site.

Thank you everyone. I suspected the lack of back links to become an issue. But I did think google would index all pages backlinks or not. I just figured the page would not rank high without them. Thank you everyone for your suggestions and I will work on it some more. As soon as I have time.

Thanks Keri. I know of these issues. I work on so many sites and this one is my own. So it gets the lower priority when it comes to time spent.

Unrelated to indexing, look at the file sizes of images on your page. Some of them are unnecessarily huge, which hurts user experience and can affect rankings (the auto-play of the video is also a negative for user experience).
Also, your home page renders with just the .com or the .com/index.html, and that should be fixed.
If you need instructions or references about how to do any of the suggestions in this thread, please let us know and we can post more information.

Your sitemap.xml looks fine, but like Tim said, submit it using Google Webmaster Tools.
Also, add it to your robots.txt file. Add a new line:
User-agent: * Allow: /

Hi Tim,
Submit you Sitemap.xml in Google Webmaster tools to get fast and better indexing...
Create some good, relevant, high quality backlinks for your other 5 pages..
You will get in Google index fast..

At this time I dont have many inbound links from others
I don't think that you are doing anything wrong. However, the speed and depth of indexing depends on the strength and number of inbound links.
Hang in there... you will be indexed in time... get a few more links if you can.
Probably has nothing to do with your indexing problem but there is an awful lot of empty table code on your homepage.

Hello,
I'm pretty certain it will be to do with back links. The more relevant back links you can get then the better you're indexing will be.
I run a similar small website which has 12 pages but only 4 are indexed and the one thing it has in common with yours is the lack of links.
Have you thought of adding some of your wedding videos to youtube and going down the social route to attract links?

Hi Tim,
The only thing I can figure is that using coords links instead of traditional text links is keeping Google from crawling through the entire site.
Instead of:
<area shape="rect" coords="194,132,289,160" href="wedding-video-pricing.html" alt="Wedding Video Prices Arizona">
Try:
I'm not positive if it will help, but it can't hurt with indexation...

Page disappears from Google search results
Hi, I recently encountered a very strange problem.
Technical SEO | | JoelssonMedia
One of the pages I published in my website ranked very well for a couple of days on top 5, then after a couple of days, the page completely vanished, no matter how direct I search for it, does not appear on the results, I check GSC, everything seems to be normal, but when checking Google analytics, I find it strange that there is no data on the page since it disappeared and it also does not show up on the 'active pages' section no matter how many different computers i keep it open. I have checked to page 9, and used a couple of keyword tools and it appears nowhere! It didn't have any back links, but it was unique and high quality. I have checked on the page does still exist and it is still readable. Has this ´happened to anyone before? Any thoughts would be gratefully received.0 -
Home Pages of Several Websites are disappearing / reappearing in Google Index
Hi, I periodically use the Google site command to confirm that our client's websites are fully indexed. Over the past few months I have noticed a very strange phenomenon which is happening for a small subset of our client's websites... basically the home page keeps disappearing and reappearing in the Google index every few days. This is isolated to a few of our client's websites and I have also noticed that it is happening for some of our client's competitor's websites (over which we have absolutely no control). In the past I have been led to believe that the absence of the home page in the index could imply a penalty of some sort. This does not seem to be the case since these sites continue to rank the same in various Google searches regardless of whether or not the home page is listed in the index. Below are some examples of sites of our clients where the home page is currently not indexed - although they may be indexed by the time you read this and try it yourself. Note that most of our clients are in Canada. My questions are: 1. has anyone else experienced/noticed this? 2. any thoughts on whether this could imply some sort of penalty? or could it just be a bug in Google? 3. does Google offer a way to report stuff like this? Note that we have been building websites for over 10 years so we have long been aware of issues like www vs. non-www, canonicalization, and meta content="noindex" (been there done that in 2005). I could be wrong but I do not believe that the site would keep disappearing and reappearing if something like this was the issue. Please feel free to scrutinize the home pages to see if I have overlooked something obvious - I AM getting old. site:dietrichlaw.ca - this site has continually ranked in the top 3 for [kitchener personal injury lawyers] for many years. site:burntucker.com - since we took over this site last year it has moved up to page 1 for [ottawa personal injury lawyers] site:bolandhowe.com - #1 for [aurora personal injury lawyers] site:imranlaw.ca - continually ranked in the top 3 for [mississauga immigration lawyers]. site:canadaenergy.ca - ranks #3 for [ontario hydro plans] Thanks in advance! Vanity URLs are being indexed in Google
We are currently using vanity URLs to track offline marketing, the vanity URL is structured as www.clientdomain.com/publication, this URL then is 302 redirected to the actual URL on the website not a custom landing page. The resulting redirected URL looks like: www.clientdomain.com/xyzpage?utm_source=print&utm_medium=print&utm_campaign=printcampaign. We have started to notice that some of the vanity URLs are being indexed in Google search. To prevent this from happening should we be using a 301 redirect instead of a 302 and will the Google index ignore the utm parameters in the URL that is being 301 redirect to? If not, any suggestions on how to handle? Thanks,

Does Index Status Goes Down If Website is Penalized by Google?
Hi Friends, Few of my friends told me that index status of a website goes down goes if it is penalized by Google. I can see my organic traffic has went down drastically after the Panda update on July 17th 2015 but index status still remains the same. So, I am bit confused. Any advice on this.

What is the best practice to re-index the de-indexed pages due to a bad migration
Dear Mozers, We have a Drupal site with more than 200K indexed URLs. Before 6 months a bad website migration happened without proper SEO guidelines. All the high authority URLs got rewritten by the client. Most of them are kept 404 and 302, for last 6 months. Due to this site traffic dropped more than 80%. I found today that around 40K old URLs with good PR and authority are de-indexed from Google (Most of them are 404 and 302). I need to pass all the value from old URLs to new URLs. Example URL Structure

Before Migration (Old)
http://www.domain.com/2536987
(Page Authority: 65, HTTP Status:404, De-indexed from Google) After Migration (Current)

Should We Index These Category Pages?
Currently we have marked category pages like http://www.yournextshoes.com/celebrities/kim-kardashian/ as follow/noindex as they essentially do not include any original content. On the other hand, for someone searching for Kim Kardashian shoes, it's a highly relevant page as we provide links to all the Kim Kardashian shoe sightings that we have covered. Should we index the category pages or leave them unindexed?

Google Indexed Only 1 Page
Hi, I'm new and hope this forum can help me. I have recently resubmit my sitemap and Google only Indexed 1 Page. I can still see many of my old indexed pages in the SERP's? I have upgraded my template and graded all my pages to A's on SEOmoz, I have solid backlinks and have been building them over time. I have redirected all my 404 errors in .htaccess and removed /index.php from my url's. I have never done this before but my website runs perfect and all my pages redirect as I hoped. My site: www.FunerallCoverFinder.co.za How do I figure out what the problem is? Thanks in Advance!
