Product Schema & Google Guidelines

Hi
We have product mark up on our site, data-vocab rather than schema.
I can't see it showing in Google SERPs, but when testing it appears to be correct. Are Google still selective with what schema they show for a site?
Thanks

Hi Nico
Thank you for the update and I feel better in knowing this

Great thanks for the feedback

You can even have it appear, be totally valid, then suddenly disappear at some point with no visible reason. By now I think of schema.org as offering google extra data for inclusion - after that it is hope and pray...
This happens quite often to my own review site which aggregates reader reviews - right now, no single aggregate review is displayed. Breadcrumbs did prove rather weird, too: sometimes schema.org works fine; at other times it does not work at all and you have to include different markup - then it works almost instantly. (Google admitted problems there at some point; does not make it less weird, though...)
Also, the "common standard" of schema.org time and again seems less common and less standard than it is oftentimes presented. (e.g.: 'till shortly google's testing tool declared isPartOf and hasPart as invalid for CreativeWork/Book ... which is, frankly, stupid. The new tool accepts it.)

Hi there.
Schema is pain in terms of showing up. You can have it all right and wait for a year and still not seeing rich snippets.
There was quite similar discussion here: https://mza.bundledseo.com/community/q/reviews-not-appearing-in-serps-even-with-schema-markup
Hope this helps

Menus, Ecommerce & SEO
Hi Our Dev team have updated our website with a new menu structure, they have given us 2 options to choose from. 1st option I think is better for SEO - this will be showing top 8 categories and then subcategories once you hover over category 1. Not much change from our current structure, just a slightly different layout. (I have added an image example of what option1 will look like) 2nd option - is preferred by management - shows all 24 categories & no subcategories. My question is, will removing the current subcategories from the main menu make them lose rankings & make them harder to rank in future? I'm guessing everything will move down a level in the structure and lost page authority... Does anyone have any articles/case studies to prove this point? Any help is much appreciated 🙂 Becky DKzgD

Affiliate & canonicals
Hi, any help with this one would be great.... www.example.com sells widgets online. They are also promoted on a 3rd party website www.partner.com. Currently www.partner.com links to a page on www.example.com that is completely branded with the 'partners' design, style and unique copy (you would think you were still on 'partner' website). I saw this interesting article from 2011: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/getting-seo-value-from-your-affiliate-links (in particular idea 1) Do you think adding a rel=canonical on www.example.com's partner page is still safe? All the best & thank you, Richard

Should I optimise our products for Singlular and Plural?
I know this is an age old quesion, however i have read many posts that all have differing views. As a compnay we sell towels and bathrobes. All our products can be searched for in there singluar and plural, each getting in some cases unique traffic, however both would lead to somone looking to buy. So the question in my case, if i am optimising pages for towels, should I also optimse title tags, meta descriptions and so on for the singluar as well? The luxury with most of our keyword phrases is that they can be incorperated nicely into descriptions in both plural and singluar.

How to Block Google Preview?
Hi, Our site is very good for Javascript-On users, however many pages are loaded via AJAX and are inaccessible with JS-off. I'm looking to make this content available with JS-off so Search Engines can access them, however we don't have the Dev time to make them 'pretty' for JS-off users. The idea is to make them accessible with JS-off, but when requested by a user with JS-on the user is forwarded to the 'pretty' AJAX version. The content (text, images, links, videos etc) is exactly the same but it's an enormous amount of effort to make the JS-off version 'pretty' and I can't justify the development time to do this. The problem is that Googlebot will index this page and show a preview of the ugly JS-off page in the preview on their results - which isn't good for the brand. Is there a way or meta code that can be used to stop the preview but still have it cached? My current options are to use the meta noarchive or "Cache-Control" content="no-cache" to ask Google to stop caching the page completely, but wanted to know if there was a better way of doing this? Any ideas guys and girls? Thanks FashionLux

What are the different tactics for getting ranked/ included in Google finance searches such as http://www.google.com/finance/company_news?q=NASDAQ:ADBE
I don't know what ranking factors they are using for this feed. The results vary greatly from a search done at google.com or google.com/news and google.com/finance I'm working with a website that regularly publishes finance-related news and currently gets traffic from google finance. I'm wondering what we can do to optimize our news articles to possibly show more prominently or more often. Thanks
