Using different sections from all over your site to compile a blog post, bad idea or ok to do?
-
I have a large site that sells various products, I have been on a kick creating new content relating to the many aspects of upkeep with these products after purchase, I wanted to create a blog post combining all the info for the group of products, but will be reusing some of the FAQs and even tips, since I'm more or less relocating the info. Since this blog post is using many different sources on our site, using a rel=canonical isn't possible.
Is there anything I should watch out for,
Will rewording / phrasing here and there be enough or should I steer clear of this as a whole?

I don't see any problem with your approach. By combining all of these resources into one blog post, you're essentially curating content from your own site.
As long as the post provides unique value to the user, then you're golden. In my mind, the value comes with packaging all these different resources into one post, making it easier for the reader to find all the info they need.
I would recommend rewriting the content with this angle in mind. And like Michael said, link to the old blog posts as a way of expanding on certain topics.

Good idea, I did forget to mention I was linking each section's h3 title to the page I got the info from. Thanks for the reply.

Just do a light rewrite on the content to update it, and tie it all together, and you should be fine. You might also consider putting a link after the content you're copying to your new blog post, if applicable.

Duplicate content problems, so why does WordPress post onto Tumblr?
Hi Everyone, Basically I know that if you have duplicate content your ranking is effected! This I understand, so why is it that WordPress has the option to post your blog entry straight onto your paired Tumblr account? Surely if this can be done, I can have the same content on the company website but also on WP and Tumblr? Or is there some sort of method to how it works specifically for those 2 websites? Thanks in advance.

Promoting external blogs on our own
From time to time we're promoting blog posts written by our employees on their external blogs (separate domains) to our official company blog. This happens when the content is valuable for our visitors and it's worth to be shared. The post is copied in its entirety and we add the sentence This post was originally published on <external blog="" post="" link="">at the top. Will this be considered duplicate content? Should we add anything else to the republished blog post? Thanks!</external>
