Duplicate content on the same site
-
We have a client who wants us to use the same piece of copy twice on their website. Once to promote a workshop and once to promote a conference talk.
We feel this would be bad practice from a user perspective, but we were wondering how search engines would regard this?
Thanks

This depends what your goal is, are you looking to rank both pages in search? If so, you will need to create unique content on both pages.
However, if your goal is to promote one of the pages via other means, you can put a rel canonical tag in the header of the site, which will give content attribution back to the original page and will solve your duplicate content issues.
Here's more information on the rel canonical tag: https://mza.bundledseo.com/learn/seo/canonicalization
As another option, you could simply noindex one of the pages.
Hope that helps.

Hello,
I would recommend using a canonical tag on your duplicate page. Point the tag at the original blog. This will tell search engines where the original source of information is without penalizing the site. For more information,

Hi,
Google does not want duplicate content. In your case. I'd suggest your client to re-write the content.
Remember that having unique content is what Google loves the most.
Hope it helps.
GR.

Should my client copy and paste his blog posts onto other professional sites?
I have a client who is an Attorney and participates in a couple of different Q and A legal sites. One of these legal sites is recommending to my client that he copy and paste his blog posts onto his profile page on the Q and A site. I understand my client wanting to copy and paste his blog posts onto these sites, as it will not only get his content in front of a larger audience, but also lend credibility. However, I've always heard that that could cause some duplicate content problems. Will my client's blog likely get penalized by google for copying and pasting his blog posts onto other relevant sites?

Thin/spun content or No content at all?
So I'm working on a site right now that has been plagued with spun/rewritten content..we are talking in the thousands. Now would it be a smarter idea to just remove all the content or leave the content? This is an ecommerce site and I'm tasking a few people to rewrite fresh authentic content. So all of the spun/thin content will be removed eventually. The main question is to just delete it all right now or just replace as we go. I'd like to know what you guys think.

Nearely identical content
Hi Everybody, I'm just checking the warnings from Seomoz an realized that on our site there are a lot of duplicate page content problems. In fact some of them are not really duplicated content because there are subtle differencies ie. colour or pack of products: http://www.szepsegbolt.hu/termekek/david_beckham_intimately_yours_for_man_eau_de_toilette_30_ml.html http://www.szepsegbolt.hu/termekek/david_beckham_intimately_yours_for_man_eau_de_toilette_50_ml.html What do you suggest, ignore this warning or change something on the site? Thank you in advance Balint

I have created 2 blogs for a client as they have 2 domains (1 for their core business, and 1 for a product). I want to use the same content on both blogs. What is the best way to set this up so there are no ranking or duplicate content issues?
We are pushing SEO for only one of the domains, therefore I would like one to be dominant. We will be sending the blog post via email to their database, therefore each blog needs to have the same content. Thank you!
