Pagination duplicate title and meta description
-
Hello,
Getting a lot of duplicate title and meta description errors via google webmaster tools.
For best SEO practices, do i no-index the page/2's, page/3's...?
More importantly, i see how MOZ did it by adding "page 3" to their titles such as http://moz.com/blog?page=3. Is that a better way of doing it? If so, how do i do that on Yoast SEO?
Thank you so much!

That's a slick piece of code but fortunately this is no longer an issue for titles of paginated posts when running the Yoast plugin. The paginated pages say Page "#" of "total pages #".

Hi there.
Here is a code solution - it adds " - Page: X" where X is a number of page. Add it to functions.php file of wordpress:
<code>php # -*- coding: utf-8 -*-/** * Plugin Name: T5 Add page number to title * Description: Adds ` | Page $number` to the page title. * License: MIT * License URI: http://www.opensource.org/licenses/mit-license.php */if(! function_exists('t5_add_page_number')){function t5_add_page_number( $s ){global $page; $paged = get_query_var('paged')? get_query_var('paged'):1;! empty ( $page )&&1< $page && $paged = $page; $paged >1&& $s .=' | '. sprintf( __('Page: %s'), $paged );return $s;} add_filter('wp_title','t5_add_page_number',100,1); add_filter('wpseo_metadesc','t5_add_page_number',100,1);}</code>

I did in my answer above.
If you want to totally solve it, also add a canonical to lead to a page that has ALL your posts shown. (Done manually, not through yoast)

Shakur,
Thank you. Is there a way to implement those tactics via Yoast SEO?
I made a post for it here as well:
-
You can just noindex those sub pages in Yoast under Titles and Metas

Hi there,
There are a lot of options, but there's serious danger in using the wrong structures.
Take a look on this post, it may help you http://moz.com/blog/pagination-best-practices-for-seo-user-experience

Title tag and user intent
I am just wondering if I create a page that present different e-bike kits and my title tag tag is "the best e-bike kits in 2019", will I rank on "e-bike kits" and "best e-bike kits" or on just "best e-bike kits" ? It seems that user intent can be tricky and sometimes a title tag can make all the difference. How about if I write "Explore Burgundy on a bike tour "to rank on "Burgundy bike tour", will I rank or is the user intent different when I write explore (meaning I am looking for something self guided instead of guided) Thank you,

Long Title Tags
Hi guys, We have product e-commerce title tags which are over 60 characters - around 80 plus. The reason we added them in there is to incorporate

more information for Google. The format of these title tags are: Name + Colour + Rug Type + Origin Name = for people searching for the name of the rug
Color = people searching for a specific color
Type = The type of rug (e.g. normal or designer)
Origin = Where the rug is for. So this title will cover people searching for: People searching for designer rugs, the specific colour and also where it comes from. This then results in the title tag going way over 60 characters - around 80-90 characters. -- Would it be wise to try and shrink it down to under 60 characters, and what would be a good approach to do this? Google W.M.T Missing Meta Title on AJax Pages... Weird!!
Hey Mozers, I was looking through my Google Web Masters Tool under HTML Improvements. It looks like I have 2,200 pages missing Meta Titles and I was about to lose it thinking HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN! I came to realize that the pages were "Ajax Pages". This is specifically a checkprice pop up and I dont want this page crawled by google. It looks like to google I have over 2k pages missing Meta Titles and they are all "check price pop ups". How would you suggest I block this. I thought about going the easy route and removing the subfolder and putting it in the Robots.txt document and I'm scared of that because we use AJax for a bunch of calls. I'm also scared of putting in the head <metaname="robots" =="" noindex, nofollow"="">because it requires hard coding</metaname="robots"> I Know i'm not the first to come across this issue, Any Ideas??

Duplicate Content For E-commerce
On our E-commerce site, we have multiple stores. Products are shown on our multiple stores which has created a duplicate content problem. Basically if we list a product say a shoe, that listing will show up on our multiple stores I assumed the solution would be to redirect the pages, use non follow tags or to use the rel=canonical tag. Are there any other options for me to use. I think my best bet is to use a mixture of 301 redirects and canonical tags. What do you recommend. I have 5000+ pages of duplicate content so the problem is big. Thanks in advance for your help!

But In blogs tag and category url are also get indexed. i have just added my blog in seomoz pro, and i have checked my Crawl Diagnostics Summary in that its showing me that some of your blog content are same. For Example: www.abcdef.com/watches/cool-watches-of-2012/ these url is already get indexed, but i have asigned some tag and catgeory fo these url also which have also get indexed with the same content. so how shall i stop search engines to do not crawl these tag and categories pages. if i have more no - follow tags in my blog does it gives negative impact to search engines, any alternate way to tell search engines to stop crawling these category and tag pages.

Hierachy in a Title Tag Needed?
When coding the title tags of a website, is it important to note the hierarchy of the website so the search engine can find that page? So, for example, the title tag would be, for a subcategory: Webpage Subcategory>Category>Website name Does this help the search engine rankings at all? Or can the search engines figure out the hierarchy by reading a sitemap or the HTML readable navigation? Then you could focus on the descriptive keywords of the subcategory page for the title tag. Also, should you always include the site name in the title tag?

How often do you refresh meta descriptions? And does refreshing meta descriptions help in ranking?
1. And does refreshing meta descriptions help in ranking? 2. How often do you refresh meta descriptions? I am not sure whether it's a new feature, but I noticed this little time stamp on one of the search results, it says 1 day ago, and the website ranked quite high. So is there any correlation here? o4JIw.png
