Homepage meta title not indexing correctly on google
-
Hello everyone!
We're having a spot of trouble with our website www.whichledlight.com
The meta title is coming up wrong on google.
In Google it currently reads out
'Which LED Light: LED Bulbs & Lamps Compared'
when it should be
'LED Bulbs & Lamps Compared | Which LED Light'Last snapshot of the page from google was yesterday (5th April 2016)
Anyone got any ideas?
Is all the markup correct in the ? -
Hi Matt,
It's still not resolved to be honest.
All though it seems likely that Google are just overriding our Meta Title, although we still don't know why they've chosen that rather than our one.Cheers

Hi TrueluxGroup! Did this get resolved? We'd love an update.

Even though you update your title tag on your page, Google from time to time changes the title tag in the search results. If they decide that there's a better title tag that gets more clicks, then they're going to change.
Unfortunately there really isn't anything you can do about Google changing your title tag. You can, though, look at the title tag that Google is using and see if you can determine how they are coming up with that particular title tag. For example, if your site is using a breadcrumb trail, there's a good chance that they may pick up on that and change your title tag.
What's also frustrating is that Google will also change your title tag in the search results for certain search queries--I've noticed that they'll change it for one keyword but not another.
It does sound like you have sorted this out, though, I have run into issues where the site's theme conflicts with other SEO settings. Glad you figured it out.

Hi TrueluxGroup
Thanks for your help. I have just found out that the theme's SEO is conflicting with Wordpress SEO. I have now changed this and hopefully should of sorted this problem.
Your comment was helpful - thanks

Hi Truelux Group
The title and description has been entered in the theme's SEO where it states to update the website's title and description. I can see this in the source code in row 19. Maybe there is a problem with the theme not updating the title and description correctly? I will get someone to take a look at this thanks.

Hi Claire,
I just took a look at Strateji.co.uk and there appears to be no meta title or description on the homepage of the site. Might be why your having trouble, unless I've misread something.
Anyone else seeing the same?
-
Hi mr Trelux & Claire,
`php the_post();if( is_home()){?><meta< span="">name="description"content="YOUR DESCRIPTION"/>php } elseif (is_single()){?> php the_excerpt();?>" /> php }?></meta<>` That is de code i use for it. With Wordpress here are handy tools like Yoast but I see you are not on WP. Good luck!

Hi
I am having the same problem. I updated my title weeks ago and Google is not picking it up. I have been advised that 3rd party cache plugin's can prevent this updating and also that Google can choose to display your title in another format that it sees fit if it wishes.

Getting Google to index our sitemap
Hi, We have a sitemap on AWS that is retrievable via a url that looks like ours http://sitemap.shipindex.org/sitemap.xml. We have notified Google it exists and it found our 700k urls (we are a database of ship citations with unique urls). However, it will not index them. It has been weeks and nothing. The weird part is that it did do some of them before, it said so, about 26k. Then it said 0. Now that I have redone the sitemap, I can't get google to look at it and I have no idea why. This is really important to us, as we want not just general keywords to find our front page, but we also want specific ship names to show links to us in results. Does anyone have any clues as to how to get Google's attention and index our sitemap? Or even just crawl more of our site? It has done 35k pages crawling, but stopped.

How to Index Faster?
Hello, I have a new website and updated fresh content regularly. My indexing status is very slow. When I search how to improve my indexing rate by Google, I found most of the members of Moz community replied there is no certain technique to improve your indexing. Apart from this you should keep posting fresh content more and more and wait for Google Indexing. Some of them asked for submitting sitemap and share posts on Twitter, Facebook and Google Plus. Well the above comments are from the year of 2012. I'm curious to know is there any new technique or methods are used to improve indexing rate? Need your suggestions! Thanks.

Why is a site no longer being indexed by Google after HTTPS switch?
A client of ours recently had a new site built and made the switch to HTTPS. We made sure to redirect all of the HTTP pages to HTTPS and submitted a new sitemap to Google. GWT says the sitemap was submitted successfully but only 4 pages have been indexed where there should be over 2000. This has led to a plummet of organic traffic and we can't find the issue. Has anyone else had issues/success with doing a HTTPS switch that knows how to fix this problem?

Correct Syntax for Meta No Index
Hi, Is this syntax ok for the bots, especially Google to pick up? Still waiting for Google to drop lots of duplicate pages caused by parameters out of the index - if there are parameters in the querystring it inserts the code above into the head. Thanks!

Should I use selected Keywords in Meta Title of non important pages
Hi All, I have identified 2 main keywords that I want a website to be found for 1: Alarm Systems 2: Security Systems I have two relevant landing pages set up and optimised for these terms and I have also optimised the home page for these terms I have countless other pages on the website that I don't really need to optimise such as Distributor Benefits or Supplier Benefits, About Us etc My question is should I use my selected keywords (alarm systems, security systems) in the Meta Title on these non important pages or should I just use them on the selected landing pages and home page? Historically I have used my primary keywords on all non important pages but not sure if Google looks down on this now. Thanks Robbie

Why will google not index my pages?
About 6 weeks ago we moved a subcategory out to becomne a main category using all the same content. We also removed 100's of old products and replaced these with new variation listings to remove duplicate content issues. The problem is google will not index 12 critcal pages and our ranking have slumped for the keywords in the categories. What can i do to entice google to index these pages?
