Duplicate page content on numerical blog pages?
-
Hello everyone,
I'm still relatively new at SEO and am still trying my best to learn.
However, I have this persistent issue. My site is on WordPress and all of my blog pages e.g page one, page two etc are all coming up as duplicate content.
Here are some URL examples of what I mean:
http://3mil.co.uk/insights-web-design-blog/page/3/
http://3mil.co.uk/insights-web-design-blog/page/4/
Does anyone have any ideas?
I have already no indexed categories and tags so it is not them.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks for your help Logan.
This is exactly what I was looking for.

I think the solution you're looking for is pagination markup. Use the rel=prev and rel=next tag to point search engines towards the proper paginated URLs. This effectively eliminates duplicate content issues where http://3mil.co.uk/insights-web-design-blog/page/3/ is flagged as a duplicate of http://3mil.co.uk/insights-web-design-blog/page/2/.
You can read more on this topic in this article on the Search Console help site.

Hello Eric,
Thanks for your quick response. I have already implemented the "more" tag onto all of my posts and this doesn't seem to stop the issue.
I don't mean that the blog posts have multiple pages I mean that the blog itself where there are various snippets of blog posts has more than one page. Like this: http://3mil.co.uk/insights-web-design-blog/
If that makes sense?

Those pages (e.g., /page/3/, /page/4/ etc.) are definitely duplicate content pages if you're not splitting up posts. In WordPress, we typically recommend using the "more" tag or other functionality to split up posts so that only a snippet is shown in places other than the full blog post URL itself.
There are a few ways to deal with this, but always make sure you're splitting up posts using the 'more' tag or something similar. You'll want to make sure that your category page or blog home page is only showing a 'snippet' of each post, then the user must click on the blog post itself to see the full post.
If you're running into an issue where you have a ton of pages like /page/3/, /page/4/, /page/5/, then you might look at those posts and see how many posts you're showing on each page (5, 10, or 20)? You might increase the number of posts you're showing. That would cut down on the number of "pages" (/page/3/) that you'll end up with.
Another way to deal with this would be to look at the posts and see if you can split them up into more categories or subcategories. I personally prefer subcategories if possible--but you won't want to have a category or subcategory with only one post in it.

Duplicate content across different domains
Hi Guys, Looking for some advice regarding duplicate content across different domains. I have reviewed some previous Q&A on this topic e.g. https://mza.bundledseo.com/community/q/two-different-domains-exact-same-content but just want to confirm if I'm missing anything. Basically, we have a client which has 1 site (call this site A) which has solids rankings. They have decided to build a new site (site B), which contains 50% duplicate pages and content from site A. Our recommendation to them was to make the content on site B as unique as possible but they want to launch asap, so not enough time. They will eventually transfer over to unique content on the website but in the short-term, it will be duplicate content. John Mueller from Google has said several times that there is no duplicate content penalty. So assuming this is correct site A should be fine, no ranking losses. Any disagree with this? Assuming we don't want to leave this to chance or assume John Mueller is correct would the next best thing to do is setup rel canonical tags between site A and site B on the pages with duplicate content? Then once we have unique content ready, execute that content on the site and remove the canonical tags. Any suggestions or advice would be very much appreciated! Cheers, Chris

On Page Content. has a H2 Tag but should I also use H3 tags for the sub headings within this body of content
Hi Mozzers, My on page content comes under my H2 tag. I have a few subheadings within my content to help break it up etc and currently this is just underlined (not bold or anything) and I am wondering from an SEO perspective, should I be making these sub headings H3 tags. Otherwise , I just have 500-750 words of content under an H2 tag which is what I am currently doing on my landing pages. thanks pete

Bespoke Website With Lack of Front Page Content
Hey guys, I wanted to ask you your opinion.. If you had a website - portfolio style for argument's sake and it was based on wordpress, obviously the front page won't be SEO friendly if you want to keep the minimalistic approach - there will be hardly any content to tell google what to rank your site for... So my question is, can you use a plugin that Google can 'see' content - such as a long unique article - that the user can't see in order to help you rank? I.e. for Gbot, the plugin would load the content plugin as plain html, but 'hide' it from most people visiting the site... What would you do in this scenario? Your response would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!

Pop Up Pages Being Indexed, Seen As Duplicate Content
I offer users the opportunity to email and embed images from my website. (See this page http://www.andertoons.com/cartoon/6246/ and look under the large image for "Email to a Friend" and "Get Embed HTML" links.) But I'm seeing the ensuing pop-up pages (Ex: http://www.andertoons.com/embed/5231/?KeepThis=true&TB_iframe=true&height=370&width=700&modal=true and http://www.andertoons.com/email/6246/?KeepThis=true&TB_iframe=true&height=432&width=700&modal=true) showing up in Google. Even worse, I think they're seen as duplicate content. How should I deal with this?
