Help: trying to get social media channels to show up in SERP knowledge panel
-
I have embedded the code intended to tell Google which social media profiles (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc...) are associated with client on their website. It was done via the Yoast SEO plugin for WordPress.
I have also tested that code on Google's structured data testing tool and it checks out. I had previously used another SEO audit tool (Seomator) and that said it checked out as well.
However... the SERP for this client is still showing only their basic Google business listing info and not the additional panel showing their associated social media channels. I followed some instructions (https://developers.google.com/webmasters/social-markup/#my_social_media_profile_isnt_displaying) searching to fix this problem at the Google developer site and it said something about clicking "feedback" at the bottom of the knowledge graph panel and then clicking on "wrong?" over the name and then entering something about how it's not displaying the social media channels. The problem is I don't see this text: "wrong?" anywhere to click on.
Been troubleshooting this for a month now and can't find an answer. Did I do something wrong like not turning around once counterclockwise and barking like a seal?

Patrick,
Thank you very much for taking the time to respond and I apologize for not responding sooner.
This issue is a real head scratcher as it turns out. I think what's going on is my client has multiple gmail accounts with various pieces of key information about her business spread across each one. I think it's going to have to first be untangled; getting info off some of her gmail addresses and then added to her one business gmail (like her location for example).
Some other advice I'd received when calling Google My Business is that all that stuff is managed there. That's what led me down this path.

Hi there
A few suggestions:
1. I would make sure you have all REQUIRED code in place to make sure that these attributes are able to populate. The reason I say that is because sometimes it's very easy to miss certain pieces of code that Google and other search engines require, by no fault of your own. Review those requirements here.
2. When you click "Feedback" or "Suggest an Edit", try clicking the little pencial / edit button next to your logo. You'll see a description box pops up there. I am willing to bet that's where that want you to put your issues - try it there. You're not going to hurt anything, especially if your profile and code mark that image up as the logo.
3. Give it time. Sometimes Google takes it's sweet time noticing changes and code. You're at the mercy of their crawl, so don't be discouraged, just keep an eye on it. The best thing you can do is have your code in place, you're already ahead of the game in that aspect.
Hope this helps - let me know if you have any questions or comments! Good luck!
Patrick

Can a page that's 301 redirected get indexed / show in search results?
Hey folks, have searched around and haven't been able to find an answer to this question. I've got a client who has very different search results when including his middle initial. His bio page on his company's website has the slug /people/john-smith; I'm wondering if we set up a duplicate bio page with his middle initial (e.g. /people/john-b-smith) and then 301 redirect it to the existent bio page, whether the latter page would get indexed by google and show in search results for queries that use the middle initial (e.g. "john b smith"). I've already got the metadata based on the middle initial version but I know the slug is a ranking signal and since it's a direct match to one of his higher volume branded queries I thought it might help to get his bio page ranking more highly. Would that work or does the 301'd page effectively cease to exist in Google's eyes?

Getting a Vanity (Clean) URL indexed
Hello, I have a vanity (clean looking) URL that 302 redirects to the ugly version. So in other words http://www.site.com/url 302 >>> http://www.site.com/directory/directory/url.aspx What I'm trying to do is get the clean version to show up in search. However, for some reason Google only indexes the ugly version. cache:http://www.site.com/directory/directory/url.aspx is showing the ugly URL as cached and cache:http://www.site.com/url is showing not cached at all. Is there some way to force Google to index the clean version? Fetch as Google for the clean URL only returns a redirect status and canonicalizing the ugly to the clean would seem to send a strange message because of the redirect back to the ugly. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you,

Local listings squeeze out my SERP :-(
Buonjourno from 9 degrees C partly cloudy wetherby UK 🙂 Ive noticed website www.davidclick.com optimised for "York wedding photographer" has been squeezed off page 1 by local listings as illustrated here:http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/squeezed-out-by-local-listings_zpsd506cd71.jpg But i do have a local listing and as good as any of the others that have squeezed the site out. So my question is please: "Why has davidclick.com been pushed out of page 1 by a raft of local listings despite this site having a reasonably well optimised local site"? Any insights welcome:)

Well, I need some help, advice, something.
Hey all, I'm new to the SEOmoz thing but I like it so far. I think I have my site listing so messed up that it's effecting my rank. I have 3 domains. 1.) rt112media.com 2.) route112media.com 3.) route112.net. Each domain was purchased through GoDaddy.com and still remain there. I have my own hosting account which I was registered as rt112media.com with route112media.com and route112.net listed as add on domains. Technically, I would like for my main site to be route112media.com for everything. However when I registered the site as rt112media.com I didn't know the issues I would have as far as different domains so I registered with rt112media.com as my main domain name. Anyways, as of now I have rt112media.com as my main domain through my cpanel hosting.I have both domains route112media.com and route112.net set for 301 wildcard redirects to rt112media.com on my hosting account and my GoDaddy account. When I started my WMT account I didn't really know which domain to use cause I figured I could link them all to one. So, I signed up as routet12media.com. After a little while I realized it was not recieving anything because everything was being redirected to rt112media.com Anyways both addresses have been crawled and indexed so they are showing as two. So, I requested to change the route112media.com address to rt112media.com in WMT. That was about 2 weeks ago and it is still pending request. I'm not having further problems with WMT because of the www.rt112media.com vs http://rt112media.com. I am the verified owner of both but I can not switch the www.rt112media account to show the non www. account as the main one because I have the other pending. My site is still being crawled as 2 versions rt112media.com and route112media.com. So what is my best option? And what would be the worst cause scenario if I wanted to start completely over using route112media.com as my main domain with hosting and all. Sorry this was so long I just wanted to explain my situation. I'm lost. Any advice would be appreciated! http:/rt112media.com
