6 months Later - 0 Domain Authority/Page Authority and losing Rankings
-
Hi Moz,
Sorry if this comes across as a "Do My Job For Me" type of post but we are an E-Commerce store that have been live since January but have not seen any increase in performance on our site and over the past month, have even seen our rankings decrease.
We have 1300 products on site and about 1500 pages in total.
1. As for on-site optimization, we have got 2 reviews and follow up reviews with a highly reputable reviewer from People Per Hour and solved any issues she has found.
2. Updated the Meta Data for products and Alt Descriptions for images focusing on the keywords we wish to rank for. We post weekly blogposts linking back to our products.
3. Social Media Campaigns with regular campaigns on FaceBook, Pinterest, Google+ and Twitter.
4. Attempted to build FOLLOW backlinks to articles relating to products on our site. We have also considered purchasing backlinks to improve our situation as we have yet to see any of these pages be crawled by Google over a month later.
I have read a guides on Moz and other sites on how to improve our authority and improve rankings but none have offered much by way of practical solution.
My question being, is this just a matter of patience or should I be worried/improving anything given we have 0 Domain Authority and Page Authority on all pages?
Thanking you in advance,
SEO Novice.

You have 1300 products and about 1500 pages with 6 months. How about traffic of your site? How about your content? How about backlinks? Did you submit link to Google? Did you use data migration and change SEO URL? If everything is good, it cannot DA, PA equip zero.

It sounds like you are doing everything right
Is the site mobile friendly?
Is your content, fresh, relevant and helpful? Make sure your content is adding value, not just creating content to create content.
My suggestions would be to continue focusing on back links, I would suggest staying away from paid links. As mentioned above, create some compelling content people want to read. Use tools like Ahref's content explorer, BuzzSumo, Moz's Fresh Web Explorer to get an idea what people are reading. Once you create these pieces of content, get it in front of people. Show it to people writing similar articles. Get them to link to it. Syndicate that content!
I hope this helps, if you would like PM your URL and I can look into some other suggestions.

We have also considered purchasing backlinks to improve our situation.
Please don't do this - that will never improve your situation.

UK company not ranking .com domain in UK
Hi, we have a slight issue with our website. We have been proactively doing SEO for the past year, but we have run into a slight issue. Our website is ranking for search terms everywhere except Our local area (UK) We have tried creating separate sections of our site targeted just at the UK In search console. As well as targeting the whole site as UK preferred and setting the hreflang tags to en-GB. Nothing seems to be working, any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Language/Country Specific Pages All in English
Hi Folks, I have been checking how many pages our competitors have indexed in Google compared to our website and I noticed that one of our main competitors has over 2 million indexed pages and I have figured out that it is because they have language/country specific pages for every page on their website. That being said, these pages contain all of the same content and the language doesn't actually change, it remains in English. Now my question is this. Will this not in fact hurt their rankings, in terms of duplicate content? Or am I missing something here? The URL's essentially do something like www.competitor.com/fr/ for France for example but as I say the content is in English, and duplicates their main website. Seems odd to me but would love your opinions on this. Thanks. Gaz

Exact match domain ranking comparison.
Assuming all the following websites content is of the same value to google's eyes (or assume duplicate content isnt penalized and they are all the same) and they all go to the same landing page (assuming the above rules) in what order do you think these would rank in a US google search for 'shoes'. A)www.sho.es B)www.sho.es/shoes C)brand.com/shoes D)shoes.brand.com E) (if you have the time) Repeat B),C) and D) for .net

PageRank vs. Domain Authority
A web-site has PR5 but in OSE I see that Domain Authority is only 26. I've also checked and the domain was registered in 2009. Is this normal?

Page Authority Issue
My home page http://www.musicliveuk.com has a domain authority of 42 and page authority of 52. However I have set up other pages on the site to optimise for one keyword per page as I thought this was best practice. For example http://www.musicliveuk.com/home/wedding-bands targets 'wedding band' but this has a page authority of 24 way below my competitors. Having used the keyword difficulty tool on here it appears that is why I am struggling to rank highly (number 9). This is the same problem for several of my main keywords. I am building links to this and other pages in order to increase their authority and eventually rank highly but am I not better off optimising my home page that already has a good page authority and would probably out rank my competitors? Or am I missing something?

Re-platform effects on Page Rank
We are performing a major replatform for an ecommerce client who has many top listings on page 1 in Google SERPs for very competitive terms. We are implementing a 301 redirect for all existing URLs that they have now to the appropriate new URLs, but the client is concerned with how deploying a new site with 100% new URLs and site structure will impact their Page Rank. From our experience, the 301 redirects should cover it but wanted to see if there is a way to predictively forecast page rank effects as a result of re-platforming.
