Help, no organic traffic recovery after new site launch (it's been 6 months)!
-
I worked with a team of developers to launch a new site back in March. I was (and still am) in charge of SEO for the site, including combining 4 sites into 1. I made sure 301 redirects were in place to combine the sites and pretty much every SEO tactic I can think of to make sure the site would maintain rankings following launch. However, here we are 6 months later and YoY numbers are down -70% on average for organic traffic.
Anyone mind taking a look at http://www.guestguidepublications.com and seeing if there's a glaring mistake I'm missing?!?!?! Thanks ahead of time!

Are you able to upload the back links or would you like me to grab the back links for your site?
Then run it through deep crawl we can see if the old back links match and make them match if needed?
I would love to see the deep crawl result. remember deep crawl will help you as well
Hope this is of help,
Tom

Yes, before we combined the sites into one site, it was divided into the following URLs:
The last one brought in the most traffic. The last 3 were more focused on content and the audience was visitors to the that particular town. The first one was more for selling the publication to other towns. We combined all of them with into one and the focus was to concentrate on content and have the site mainly for visitors to the areas, but a section to sell the publication too. Because this is a publication, writing consistent, unique content is no issue, and they've been very good at getting new content out since the new launch.
Before the new site launch, there were no penalties or warnings, and the sites were all ranking well. The core reason for combining the sites was to make it easier to maintain and put a focus towards content.

I've actually been to Winter Park, Florida - great place! I thought about it perhaps being the nature of the business. It was only after the last 2 months that I've had YoY data, but I can still see that it's -70% YoY, which is a bit scary; however, with it being seasonal, losing just one or two links could be detrimental.

I've never heard of DeepCrawl, but I set-up a trial and am currently running the site through it. I'll let you know what turns up! Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Annapurna,
Can you please brief up a bit about your old domain situation, ie was there any penality or anywarning to that domain. Secondly, was the old domain ranking at the time.
Secondly, why did you decide to redirect to the new domain. what was the core reason. I think, after getting this i would be able to help you in batter way
I also left a message for ,I hope to hear back from you soon. -
Your backlinks do not redirect if you change the domain or you lost a lot of backLink
http://d.pr/i/1kjWw+ Your site is not mobile friendly on all of the URLs.
It could also be the nature of your business. I'm in Winter Park Florida small world

I will do an audit using DeepCrawl if you like ?
I'll have a look at everything that's going on but I would need access to the analytics in order to actually tell you anything that would be very extremely helpful .

What's the average rank update time after site and/or backlink changes?
What's currently the typical time, ON AVERAGE, it takes to see ranking changes when significant improvements are made to significant ranking signals on a long-established (as opposed to brand new) website? Does the rank update associated with on-page optimization happen sooner than addition of quality backlinks?

How can I stop spam Google Organic traffic?
Hey Moz, I'm a rather experienced SEO who just encountered a problem I have never faced. I am hoping to get some advice or be pointed in the right direction. I just started work for a new client. Really great client and website. Nicer than most design/content. They will need some rel canonical work but that is not the issue here. The traffic looked great at first glance 131k visits in April. Google Analytics Acquisition Overview showed 94% of the traffic as organic. When I dug deeper and looked at the organic source I saw that Google was 99.9% of it. Normal enough. Then I looked at the time on site and my jaw dropped. 118,454 Organic New Users for Google only stayed on the site for 3 seconds. There is no way that the traffic is real. It does not match what Google Webmaster tools, Moz, and Ahrefs are telling me. How do I stop a service that is sending fake organic Google traffic?

How do I get more video reviews on a new site?
Hi, I'm working on a site that has video reviews of various places. It's general information/experience that most people possess and production-wise they are selfies. These videos are then transcribed and, voila... searchable content. My problem is this... how do I get large numbers of people to go to the trouble to make a 2 minute selfie? I thought about HARO, since one could work in a plug for something, but they have a site traffic threshold that this new site isn't at. Any and all ideas on how to efficiently generate this content for a new site with very little traffic would be appreciated. Thanks!

Any issue? Redirect 100's of domains into one website's internal pages
Hi all, Imagine if you will I was the owner of many domains, say 100 demographically rich kwd domains & my plan was to redirect these into one website - each into a different relevant subfolder. e.g. www.dewsburytilers..com > www.brandname.com/dewsbury/tilers.html www.hammersmith-tilers.com > www.brandname.com/hammersmith/tilers.html www.tilers-horsforth.com > www.brandname.com/horsforth/tilers.html another hundred or so 301 redirects...the backlinks to these domains were slim but relevant (the majority of the domains do not have any backlinks at all - can anyone see a problem with this practice? If so, what would your recommendations be?

Large Site - Complete Site URL Change and How to Preserver Organic Rankings/Traffic
Hello Community, What is your experience with site redesign when it comes to preserving the traffic? If a large enterprise website has to go through a site-wide enhancement (resulting in change of all URLs and partial content), what do you expect from Organic rankings and traffic? I assume we will experience a period that Google needs to "re-orientate" itself with the new site, if so, do you have similar experience and tips on how to minimize the traffic loss? Thanks

Help my site it's not being indexed
Hello... We have a client, that had arround 17K visits a month... Last september he hired a company to do a redesign of his website....They needed to create a copy of the site on a different subdomain on another root domain... so I told them to block that content in order to not affect my production site, cause it was going to be an exact replica of the content but different design.... The developmet team did it wrong and blocked the production site (using robots.txt), so my site lost all it's organica traffic, which was 85-90% of the total traffic and now only get a couple of hundreds visits a month... First I thought we had been somehow penalized, however when I the other site recieving new traffic and being indexed i realized so I switched the robots.txt and created 301 redirect from the subdomain to the production site. After resending sitemaps, links to google+ and many things I can't get google to reindex my site.... when i do a site:domain.com search in google I only get 3 results. Its been now almost 2 month and honestly dont know what to do.... Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Dan

Any reason not to redirect entire directory from old site structure to new?
I'm helping on a site that has tons of content and recently moved from a 10 year old .ASP structure to WordPress. There are ~800 404s, with 99% of them in the same directory that is no longer used at all. The old URL structures offer no indication of what the old page contents was. So, there is basically no way to manually redirect page by page to the new site at this point.....is there any reason not to redirect that entire old directory to the new homepage? Matt Cutts seems to think its OK to point an entire old directory to a new homepage, but its not as good as the 1:1 redirects: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=93633 Any thoughts?
