Should I include my 3 locations as keywords on various pages throughout my site or just the homepage and individual location pages?
-
For example, I'm optimizing for multiple industries and services. Should I add location keywords on each industry and service page?
Construction CPA, Construction Accountant or Construction CPA, Construction Accountant, location, location, location
I'm including location keywords on homepage and will have a unique contact us page for each location.

Hi Stacy!
We recommend building out pages that include both the location keywords and the industry keywords on each page. The way you implement them and closer the keywords are to one another in proximity, the better chance you have to rank for those keywords.
Instead of trying to squish all the keywords (both location and industry) onto one service page, try building out unique pages for each location + service. The more pages you have, the more opportunities you have to rank. Just be careful that you aren't using too much duplicate content on these pages. You should be changing more than just the city on the page and trying to personalize it to the area as much as possible.
Let me know if you have any questions about the back way to tackle this!

Hi Stacy,
I feel your pain here as it feels ridiculous to create a ton of pages to target services + locations. What is the point of creating:
Construction CPA + Location 1
Construction CPA + Location 2
Construction CPA + Location 3
Construction Accountant + Location 1
Construction Accountant + Location 2
etc.Unfortunately we typically see that content is king here, so creating all of these page combinations will help your rankings based on today's google algorithms. I struggle with this as it often feels a bit spammy, but it works for now. Site architecture is important to keep it all organized.
The future is heading toward properly implemented Schema where you could indicate your Services, your Locations and then indicate which Services each location offers.
Of course the BEST thing to do is to have physical locations in each city you want to optimize for as these keywords typically display localized content. Do your Local SEO campaigns on each location and get those reviews up!
Hope that is of some help.

If it is a local service, yes, adding location modifier keywords can help you rank for more local terms.

Although competition is very high I have found a few holes. According to the Keyword tool in SeoMoz a few keywords Im looking at are roughly 50%. Does anyone use different tools? Thank you
