Fetch as Google issues
-
HI all,
Recently, well a couple of months back, I finally got around to switching our sites over to HTTPS://. In terms of rankings etc all looks fine and we have not move about much, only the usual fluctuations of a place or two on a daily basis in a competitive niche. All links have been updated, redirects in place, the usual https domain migration stuff.
I am however, troubled by one thing!
I cannot for love nor money get Google to fetch my site in GSC. No matter what I have tried it continues to display "Temporarily unreachable". I have checked the robots.txt and it is on a new https:// profile in GSC.
Has anyone got a clue as I am stumped! Have I simply become blinded by looking too much??? Site in Q. caravanguard co uk.
Cheers and looking forward to your comments....
Tim

It would appear that GSC has pretty much resolved itself. It may have simply been a glitch at the time.

Hey Tim, if DNS is working and nothing else to be done but waiting from Google to get it fixed, just keep waiting and one day you'll see a green sign when start working again. My site has shown with red alert then a yellow sign saying dns error, checked my dns and everything is working.
-
From what I can gather the DNS is fine, our A records are only pointing to our website? if it was DNS what would be missing?
-
Hey Tim, Blocked resources is totally different than DNS error, that shouldn't cause any issues. Check your DNS and make sure is working, again, if it's working, that is just something should be corrected by Google soon. Have you tried fetching it again?
Thanks!

SSL is fine and so is our DNS from what I can gather.
I do get one notification for a blocked resource but this is an external element? will this cause any issues?
-
Hi Tim,
Firstly you might want to check if your certificate is working properly through https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html then make sure check for any dns troubleshooting through www.who.is and if everything is working, it should be something from Google and just keep fetching it by giving a try in next day or couple hours, it happened to mine and everything is working now.
Good luck!
Antulio

Google bot notification
Hi there! I've just made some changes in my website in order to optimize it but I don't know if there's a way to notify the googlebot that some aspects of the configuration (metas) have changed and must be "taken into account". The spider visited my site two days ago and obviously processed the sitemap file. I've heard that it's possible to do a ping to certain websites. Is this the way to proceed? I must say that there're not many updates in the site (just one way information) as the social media activity is still low. Thanks in advanced.

MSNbot Issues
We found msnbot is doing lots of request at same time to one URL, even considering we have caching, it triggers many requests at same time so caching does not help at the moment: For sure we can use mutex to make sure URL waits for cache to generate, but we are looking for solution for MSN boot. 123.253.27.53 [11/Dec/2012:14:15:10 -0600] "GET //Fun-Stuff HTTP/1.1" 200 0 "-" "msnbot/2.0b (+http://search.msn.com/msnbot.htm)" 1.253.27.53 [11/Dec/2012:14:15:10 -0600] "GET //Type-of-Resource/Fun-Stuff HTTP/1.1" 200 0 "-" "msnbot/2.0b (+http://search.msn.com/msnbot.htm)" 1.253.27.53 [11/Dec/2012:14:15:10 -0600] "GET /Browse//Fun-Stuff HTTP/1.1" 200 6708 "-" "msnbot/2.0b (+http://search.msn.com/msnbot.htm)" We found the following solution: http://www.bing.com/community/site_blogs/b/webmaster/archive/2009/08/10/crawl-delay-and-the-bing-crawler-msnbot.aspx Bing offers webmasters the ability to slow down the crawl rate to accommodate web server load issues. User-Agent: * Crawl-Delay: 10 Need to know if it’s safe to apply that. OR any other advices. PS: MSNBot gets so bad at times that it could trigger a DOS attack – alone! How to correct a google canonical issue?
So when I initially launched my website I had an issue where I didn't properly set my canonical tags and all my pages got crawled. Now in looking at the search engine results I see a number of the pages that were meant to be canonical tagged to the correct page showing up in the results. What is the best way to correct this issue with google? Also I noticed that while initially I was ranking well for the main pages, now those results have disappeared entirely and deeper in the rankings I am finding the pages that were meant to be canonical tagged. Please Help.

Duplicate Content Issue with
Hello fellow Moz'rs! I'll get straight to the point here - The issue, which is shown in the attached image, is that for every URL ending in /blog/category/name, it has a duplicate page of /blog/category/name/?p=contactus. Also, its worth nothing that the ?p=contact us are not in the SERPs but were crawled by SEOMoz and they are live and duplicate. We are using Pinnacle cart. Is there a way to just stop the crawlers from ?p=contactus or? Thank you all and happy rankings, James

Schema.org support by google
Hi, Some time ago I have implemented schema.org product schema on all of my product pages. The rich snippet tool provided by Google shows that the relevant info is extracted (they say that preview is not supported so no preview there) My issue is that I can't see any rich snippet displayed for any on my searches, which leads me to think that there is something wrong with my implementation. sample page: www.funstuff.co.il/tabid/62/ProdID/933/products.aspx [editor's note: adult oriented content, NSFW] Any one has an Idea? Thanks, Asaf

Google Website Optimizer
So if you are AB testing two pages: index.html and indexB.html Shouldn't I nofollow indexB.html? It has all the same content, just a different design.
