How can a keyword placed on a page with the Moz page optimization score of 100 be ranked #51+?
-
Hi,
Please help me figure out why this is happening and what goes wrong. This is the example of the poor ranked keyword - 'viking cooktop repair' with page optimization score of 100 (http://www.yourappliancerepairla.com/blog/viking-cooktop-repair/) Yet it's ranking is #51+.
I've got many like these: Page Optimization Score for 'kitchenaid oven repair' is 100 (http://www.yourappliancerepairla.com/blog/kitchenaid-oven-repair/) yet its ranking is #51+
And so on. According to Google Search Console, I have 266 of links to my site with variety of root domains. While building backlinks, I paid attention to relevancy and DA.What else do I have to do to get those keywords ranked higher? And why don't they rank well if the pages are 100% optimized, not keywords stuffed and I have quality backlinks? What am I missing out on? Please help!

PPC might be helpful. I don't know because I don't use PPC for promotion. I don't like spending money on it.
Maybe someone else will support the idea and give advice.

Thank you so much! I will definitely follow your advise. There is one thing that confuses me a little. My company has two locations: one in Pasadena, another one in Calabasas. I guess I can put those two locations for brand pages (Viking repair, Sub-Zero repair, etc) and for service pages (refrigerator repair, dishwasher repair).
However, we also service such upscale neigbouthoods as Marina Del rey, Bel Air, and Beverly Hills. I think if I mention my company's physical locations on those pages, it would be weird, wouldn't it? Yet I target "marina del rey appliance repair", "beverly hills appliance repair", and so on. Could you please let me know what you would do in a situation like this? Is there any chance that I can rank higher for those keywords without having physical local presence? Thank you!

Kirupa,
As far as i am concerned, EGOL always has the best advice.
The only thing i would add is to recommend that somewhat controversial idea of running a PPC campaign to help your rankings increase. If your product, UX, etc. truly are better than the competition, but you have no traffic to prove that...Pay for traffic and let the user signals (assuming they are good) help you climb the SERPs.
What do you think EGOL?
Matt

If this company only does business within a short driving range of their offices, I would get local name, address and phone information on every page of the website. That will help you rank for "viking cooktop repair in pasadena" and other local queries which are probably more valuable than ranking at #51 for "viking cooktop repair". People search for their local repair person.
I would also be looking to get links, brand mentions, etc. from websites that serve the areas where the company does business. Links from across the world or on the other side of the continent or state are not as valuable. Some reviews would be helpful.
You need to demonstrate that you are a strong and established LOCAL business. Go learn about ranking in the local SERPs if you have not learned how to do that yet. On Moz, look for posts by Miriam Ellis
site:moz.com miriam ellis local search
and also information on this page...

Thanks for your reply! You said, "They are waiting for more data to confirm that the company is real". What data do you think are they waiting for exactly? I've got reviews on Yelp and on the website, brand mentions... What did you mean by type-ins?
-
I went to Google and searched for "viking cooktop repair". I went down through the SERPs and, yes, all the way down to position 100, I was still seeing title tags that were relevant for this query. Often they had the exact query in the title tag. Often they had two of the three words but there was no doubt that they were relevant.
This is an example of a query where there are a lot of competitors, and, although they are small, local, weak, and sometimes ignorant, they have moved onto the turf and own it. When a new competitor arrives 20 years late for the fight, he can't walk in and obtain priority position by default.
In this situation, Google might be waiting to see more than links. Other sites have twenty years of history, ten years of history, they have brand mentions, type-ins, user behavior data, reviews, a history of phone book presence... and Google is looking for confirmation. This site went up last summer and already has 266 links. Google probably knows that those are built links. They are waiting for more data to confirm that the company is real.

Ranking subpage for main keyword instead of homepage – somehow I feel like our homepage is penalized
Hello guys, I hope this question isn't too broad – but I run out of ideas and I feel like there is some technical issue with our site which sees us penalized: Search: German Google

Website: www.elementspure-hotel.de
Keyword: Hotel Bremen Right now we're ranking between 40 and 50 with the subpage /zimmer. a lot of sites with lesser DA scores and a lot more SEO Issues are ranked higher. The homepage is optimized for hotel bremen, yet /zimmer page ranks first, which I just don't understand
(Page Authority is much higher, Keyword density)
– I've run the site through a lot of tools and there aren't any severe issues Search Console doesn't say anything in regards to errors My suggestions which I can't confirm:
– There are some redirection issues (http/https/www/nonww/)
– Backlink issues (a lot of backlinks are from www.elements-pure.de)
– Over optimization penalties? Tank you! Magnus0 -
Optimize homepage or category for main keyword?
Hello, we have an advertisements website. Usually in each country we have this one "main" keyword which has the largest amount of searches. Now we have done both ways in different markets. Sometimes optimize the homepage www.example.com for the keyword, sometimes optimize **www.example.com/thekeyword **the category page. I do not have solid data which works better, as Keyword difficulties are too big to compare. The good thing with category is that i would have internal links pointing to it and keyword in the url. Questions: 1. Which do you recommend better?

How long does it take for Moz to discover links to pages
Hi folks, Our website is doing well in the Google rankings relative to our competitors who often have higher "Domain authority" than us as reported by Moz. I'm wondering how closely Moz's "Domain Authority" correlates with Google's. In particular, I wonder how long it takes Moz to discover inbound links. For instance our page at http://www.educationquizzes.com/ks3/english has many inbound links from pages on an outstanding educational website and yet our page authority is given by Moz as a measly "1"! Any insights would be very much appreciated.

Page that appears on SERPs is not the page that has been optimized for users
This may seem like a pretty newbie question, but I haven't been able to find any answers to it (I may not be looking correctly). My site used to rank decently for the KW "Gold name necklace" with this page in the search results:http://www.mynamenecklace.co.uk/Products.aspx?p=302This was the page that I was working on optimizing for user experience (load time, image quality, ease of use, etc.) since this page was were users were getting to via search. A couple months ago the Google SERP's started showing this page for the same query (also ranked a little lower, but not important for this specific question):http://www.mynamenecklace.co.uk/Products.aspx?p=314Which is a white gold version of the necklaces. This is not what most users have in mind (when searching for gold name necklace) so it's much less effective and engaging. How do I tell Google to go back to old page/ give preference to older page / tell them that we have a better version of the page / etc. without having to noindex any of the content? Both of these pages have value and are for different queries, so I can't canonical them to a single page. As far as external links go, more links are pointing to the Yellow gold version and not the white gold one.Any ideas on how to remedy this? Thanks.

Lost ranking and can't figure out why
My page http://www.drschulmanplasticsurgery.com/body/buttock-lift-augmentation-new-york-city/ recently moved from first page to past the 15th. I was never penalized on the last update and have very few links pointing to this page. I can't figure out why i just moved so far back. Can anyone offer some advice?

After fixing duplicate pages problem - keyword rankings have fallen off a cliff!
We have recently signed up to SEOMOZ and found that our site had over 2,500 duplicated pages. We reported it the the web designer and they found links on the website to an old prototype version of the website and so they did a SQL run to get rid of them. Doing this got rid of 90% of them. However, this morning, moz has just done another crawl of our website and our keyword rankings have fallen off a cliff. Particularly, important one that we were at position 1 for. We are now on the fifth page. Can anyone shed any light on it? Will this be temporary? Thanks Stuart

Importance of an optimized home page (index)
I'm helping a client redesign their website and they want to have a home page that's primarily graphics and/or flash (or jquery). If they are able to optimize all of their key sub-pages, what is the harm in terms of SEO?
