Frames and SEO
-
In the old days frames were a problem because they could end up being orphaned pages that get indexed and appear in the SERPS but had to navigation so they were useless. Are frames still a problem with Google and if so what are the suggested solutions?
-
I don't need them. The client has them and I wanted to get a consensus before I suggested that they rip them down.
-
Frames are still clunky in terms of navigation and can cause problems for SEO as well. What do you need frames for? Practically everything that can be done with frames can be achieved with
s and it's a better user experience.

Do I need multiple 301s to preserve SEO
Many years ago I created website www.original.com. Two years ago I redirected website www.original to www.neworiginal.comusing 301 redirects. I have now created www.rebranded.com. I want to maintain all SEO value. Should I redirect both www.original.comand www.new original.com to www.rebranded.com? Or do I only need to redirect one of them and if only one which one? If I need only to redirect one can I delete the other, why or why not. Of course the url are fictitious. I truly appreciate your help

Hypothetical SEO Question
I am running a website for a law firm. It has been running for many, many years and has plenty of backlinks and authority. I then create a standalone website for a specific type of case that the law firm is handling. On that website, I have a page that copies some of the attorney bio text from the main website. How much of a negative impact will this standalone website have on the main website as far as duplicate content issues are concerned? Please explain your answer in detail. Thank you in advance.

SEO: Subdomain vs folders
Hello, here's our situation:We have an ecommerce website, say www.example.com. For support, we use zendesk which offers a great platform that makes publishing FAQ and various resource articles very easy. We're torn between publishing these articles on our actual website, or publishing them via Zendesk. If we publish them on our website, the url would be something like:
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | yacpro13
www.example.com/articles/title_article.html On the other hand, if we publish them via zendesk, the url would look like:
support.example.com/articles/title_of_article We would like to publish them via Zendesk, however, we do no want to miss out on any SEO benefit, however marginal it may be. Doing it this way, the domain would have all of the ecommerce pages (product and category pages), and the subdomain would have ALL other types of pages (help articles and also policies, such as return policies, shipping info, etc etc). I know a long time ago, folders were preferred over subdomains for SEO, but things change all the time.Do you think setting up all the ecommerce pages on the domain, and all content pages on the subdomain, would be a lesser solution? Google Business Places SEO Question
Hi All, I have set up different Google Business Places listings for each of my locations for my business. I want each location to rank for their retrospective keywords. So from an SEO point of view to help these rank.. When choosing Keywords/Categories for my listing , should I use my main keyword + my location example - I have a carpet cleaner hire depot in London and I want to rank for London so should my keyword be just carpet cleaner hire or Carpet Cleaner Hire London. My other depot is say in the location of Watford so should that listing have keywords that contain Watford in them ?. Also - Should the description contain my localised keywords ? I have looked around and cant' find much on this topic Any pointers would be greatly appreciated thanks Sarah

Site structure from an SEO standpoint
I am fortunate enough to be working with a client who is still building their website. From a site structure standpoint, what can I look for with my SEO hat as they build their wire frames and storyboard their site? I want to make sure I don't miss any components that might be helpful short and long term

CNAME instead of A-record: seo problem?
Our supplier of a hosted CMS is hosting a few hundred website on his server. For every domainname pointing to a website we need to use the same IP-adres in the DNS A-record. They are now asking us to delete de A-record for all the websites and add a CNAME record. So they can send the traffic via a company like Versign in case of a DDOS attack. A lot of the websites rank well. Will there be a SEO problem when we start using the CNAME's instead of the A-records? Thanks, Olaf

Widgetbox.com Widgets - SEO Tomfoolery?
We recently revived a slew of industry-specific widgets that we had created on Widgetbox.com largely for SEO purposes. The widget is remote-hosted and just a static HTML cache page showing information, so all Widgetbox does is wrap that HTML page in javascript to show it. However, I realized that when Javascript is disabled there's no link back to our website, just 4 or 5 back to Widgetbox. When Javascript is enabled we have a simple link back to our website at the bottom of the widget. I know Google has the ability to crawl Javascript now, but what do you think about this, will these links count? I could find virtually 0 information about it elsewhere. I'm thinking I may just add several widgets to another website to see if Google picks up the links.
