Hi,
Wondered if anyone has any useful articles or tips for social media for a B2B generalist ecommerce site.
We have started thinking about LinkedIn, but I know we need a lot more work & potentially to look at other channels/building a brand/personality online.
I've read a few articles, about finding the unboring angle of your business - I'm just wondering how we can achieve this if we have thousands of products & potential customers - it's hard to know where to start & to get the buy in
It's something I want to push, so any tips would be great

There is an easy way to manage your social now. Tools like RecurPost (a social media scheduler with repeating schedules) allow you to automatically share your content on your social channels in a recurring manner. Just put content into different libraries and suggest how frequently a library should post content. That is all, it will start at the top of a library and once everything has been posted once it will restart at the beginning.

It's a really great promotion - we simply schedule our post for the designated time on a Sunday and we'll keep going until we are chosen!
Just the one person managing content and social media - we try to get as much content out as we can, but sometimes we are limited on ideas so what we tend to do is find an old post (generally our late 2015/early 2016 blog posts) and completely re-do them and promote. Although I usually find that if you can talk about what's trending at the moment, it generally is well received and makes conversation - this is how we managed to speak to people in the UK manufacturing community, building relationships with people on social media will help a lot in terms of getting your name out there and building followers.I don't know if you've ever heard of Brian Dean from Backlinko but we tend to follow a lot of his advice. He has less than 50 blog posts, he simply adds to his existing posts and promotes constantly, He's got some great advice and a great youtube channel - for content/link building I'd definitely consider taking a look - http://backlinko.com/.
LinkedIn is great - we have our company page which we post content on but I find my personal account works best by adding potential customers and sharing the posts. It's great for joining communities too - I'm part of an SEO/Link building group that offer tips but also UK manufacturing and UK plastics group which are more catered to our business. It's really handy to have but I find I use my personal page for conversations and sharing posts/information. LinkedIn also offers really great training videos - if you trial premium you can get these free for 30 days & in that time I took a web designer course but they have plenty of great courses if you felt you needed training in a particular area!

How many people do you have helping with content? Does everyone pitch in or do you have a content team?
It's not so much managing the posts, but getting the resource to produce good content. I can do some but probably not enough to post regularly.
How do you find LinkedIn?

It has definitely helped our traffic, we receive a few more visits on the back of articles we've promoted from businesses who are informed about the products but maybe hadn't considered before. We just have the one person managing our social media - scheduling apps/websites will be a great help if there's only yourself managing it. We personally use Hootsuite, you can schedule your social media posts for the week if you're struggling to manage to post at particular times/consistently throughout the week. Another key thing about Twitter is, Theo Paphitis has a competition every Sunday where he will RT 6 businesses which expose your business to his 505k followers and offers a link on his website (DA 48). Just something to consider - we haven't yet won it but we speak to a few businesses that have!

We exhausted our options for writing about our products and we found we didn't get as much traffic from our product posts so we decided to consider what our customers would like to read and what content would help us get more links. Inspiration came from looking at the type of content that our customers wrote and finding out how we can adapt it to feature our products. For example, the pub's post mentioned previously, I found an article which talked about health and safety in pubs during summer and adapted this to be overall preparing pubs for summer where we can feature our PVC strip curtains but also link back to the article that originally inspired the blog!
We aim to think outside the box to distance ourselves from competitors but also offer helpful information - it takes quite a lot of research on the sectors but is generally well received on social media!

We are a PVC strip curtain manufacturer, so on social media, we try and find angles that will interest our customers without being too much about sales all the time. Twitter and LinkedIn work best for us at the moment but we do have a platform on Facebook and Google+, it's a good idea to get involved with people in a similar field who aren't competitors as we try to speak to other UK manufacturers to try and build followers. On Twitter, try and get involved in the # hours (#madeinbritainhour, #ukbizlunch, #ukmanufacturinghour etc) as a way to introduce your business to the community. What we find works best for us, as we are limited on the products we can talk about, is focus on creating content (most recently we posted an article about preparing your pub for summer - including PVC strip curtains in the article) and targeting whoever posts #pub / groups on LinkedIn that are in that field.

Which site as main site? B2C or B2B?
We're currently running two separate sites, one being the "main" page for B2B customers and the other being an online shop targeting B2C customers. Site structure looks like this: <code>[sonnenschirme.at](sonnenschirme.at) = main page / B2B</code> <code>sonnenschirme.at/shop = shop / B2C</code> We're also building a new shop with Shopify which will replace the current shop and it's going to provide a really great user experience (AR models of products etc). Naturally, there are a lot more B2C customers than there are B2B customers (we sell sun umbrellas). The B2C customer type spends around 150€ typically, whereas a B2B customer needs consulting and will spend upwards 10k. B2B is responsible for about 90% of revenue. Both customer types seem to search for the term "sonnenschirme" which is basically just "sun umbrella". Before the shop was accessible at a subdirectory (/shop), it was available on a different domain (not even subdomain), which was really bad for SEO. Once we consolidated both websites into one we've seen a big spike in traffic, due to products etc. of the shop ranking well. As pretty much all competing companies are B2C companies who fight for a share of the "sonnenschirme" keyword, we've been unsure if it wasn't better to have the shop as the main page and the B2B page in a subdirectory. So basically: <code>sonnenschirme.at/subdirname = B2B page

B2B Blogger Outreach
Hi I'm working on an SEO campaign in relation to vacuum cleaners. I'm working on some outreach and as we focus on B2B I'm finding it difficult to find blogs which are B2B focused. We would ideally want customers who are buying a number of vacuums for their business - but it could be any industry. Instead of B2B blogs, I have gone with the angle of cleaning/organising blogs, with lots of followers on social. However, does anyone know of any good B2B blogs they could recommend? I'm looking for something written by facilities/buildings managers - if blogs like this exist 🙂 Thank you

Advising clients on Blogs, twitter and social
I am looking to put a crib/cheat sheet together for clients about writing content, blogs and twitter and other social. I want this to be SHORT - SHARP and to the point. Any advise is appreciate. This is what I have so far.... Blogs - Tell the world what your company is doing, whats new, also link it to the news - BE INTERESTING - Educate don't just say "we offer this services its great" - make it relevant BUT do not be obvious - ask yourself would you read this blog find it interesting - read it again - what did you learn? Twitter - Treat like a micro blog with a personality - use it to great a company personality do not just link to your site when you do a blog post - comment on news events - BE INTERESTING - BE FUN - Make people want to engage with you - we recently tweeted this:- eg:- Something pointless for the weekend - See fun video link. Is it OK to have two similar business sites share their Social Media (just one FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)?
These two businesses are owned by the same company (industry is event planning). The parent company has been in business 20+ years and caters to a corporate crowd and the more recent company started by the parent caters to consumers (weddings). Would this have any negative seo implications if they share social media accounts? or is this perhaps just more of a strategic issue i gather. And i would gather that its best for each to have their own blog. Would greatly appreciate some insight!Thanks, Christian

How to remove negative media that is effecting the barnd
We have a client that is a reorganised business and brand. But a newspaper has posted some negative video and that is coming up on 2<sup>nd</sup> position when you type in the client name in google. The client also paid a company to try and reduce its positioning but no joy yet on that front. The client is now thinking of rebranding his complete business he also have first page positions on his major keywords but the issue is that when a customer or potential customer reads that story etc it harms them and it will only get worse. The worst example being one of our salespeople sold 10 Items to a customer for £*k and before he got home the customer cancelled saying he had read the story on the internet!! Also our competitors use it in the home to rubbish them all the time. The market this year has been very tough for us and its half what it was last year What would be your advice please ? Should we go for a brand new site with no association with the current brand name? Or how can we remove that one site negative video, we have contacted the editor who has refused to take off the news by the way that news was posted last year.

How to get Social Mention from an Expert in A field you know nothing about?
I have read many posts on this. However, the one thing I find challenging is getting an expert to give me a social mention. In many cases they have shared something similar in the past, and in many cases they are too busy. IMO building relationships via forums is the easiest way to find experts who will mention my site. I can engage them in a thread, and eventually take it to a Personal Messages. After building a relationship I can ask for a link or a social mention or to guest post or something. I have attempted contacting many experts via Blogs, E-mail, Facebook, Google + etc. for many different sites, IMExperince most “Experts” (people with large followings) will not give a noob (new site w/no rankings or new user w/no following) the time of day, nor a social mention. I have read many posts on engaging experts: tag them; send them flowers; like every post; make great comments. My result… bruised lips (from kissing behinds). I work with an SEO company, and every new site we work on seems to require a unique strategy for ranking. When we work on building relationships in fields we know nothing about, the outcome is weak. Unless we use forums. What are some strategies that work for you? what approach do you take when you have to build a relationship with someone you cant give value to?
