If I move my blog from subdomain to root, will my blog lose all of its authority? Social signals?
-
Moving my blog from blog.site.co.uk to site.co.uk/blog and just wondered if all the social data for each post will be lost including the blog authority which has been built up over time?
Is 301 redirects enough to keep any of it?
-
Rankings were unstable for a couple of weeks but we are back at strength almost everywhere.
-
And have you seen any impact from an SEO point of view?
Or maybe you will see an impact when search engines take social signals into more consideration?
-
I think that the question is.... "Will the number of FaceBook likes follow to the new URL or will they be reset?"
I redirected a domain a few months ago and all of my numbers were resent to zero.

Individual pages will lose a tiny amount of page authority, but your domain authority should remain unaffected because all subdomains are included.
-
301 redirects will maintain about 90% of your blog's authority. The only way to retain it all is to get the links to point to the new URL, which is probably impossible if you have hundreds or thousands of them. Just set up a wildcard redirect that does a 301 of blog.site.co.uk/* to site.co.uk/blog/* so that every page redirects and is maintained. The worst thing you could do here is not transfer some of your content over and leave a bunch of 404's behind.

What is a good benchmark social share rate?
What is a good benchmark social share rate? Does a benchmark exist? For instance, on a Zillow home profile, what % of people share that home listing on social media? Or on a NY Times article, what % of people share that article on social media? Thanks.

What if an employee leaves and removes Rel=Author verification from their Google Plus profile?
What if someone leaves your company and removes your site from their Google Plus profile (under "Contributor To"). Does that kill all the rel=author on the pages written by this former employee? (Should you use the email verification with employees to avoid this scenario? Email verification is a big hassle for us.)

Wordpress Comment Spam is killing my blog: Help!
I am in charge of our company wordpress blog and we regularly update the content. However, we are getting hundreds of spam comments every week. To be honest I wouldn't care as they go straight into the spam folder BUT we are missing out on a few legitimate comments because it is so difficult and time consuming going through all the comments. Does anyone have an ideas on how to tackle this and stop this? It would be really appreciated.

Working with 3rd PArty Social Media partners / paid blogs
Hi there! We are an ecommerce company based in the UK and are an online butcher. We are looking to further our contribution and authority in a social sphere, in particular develop relations with bloggers and social sites who are realised to have authority in our sphere (food / meat). At present we are active in the usual (Twitter, Facebook etc) and have over 1000 likes and followers. We also have a cool blog which can be found at www.donaldrussell.com/weblog/index.html We are looking at our content and would like to share this with other bloggers in return for backlinks and visits from these blogs, and in turn improve our pagerank and SEO ratings. I have been offered the chance to work with EBuzzing, who claim to get your content published and referred to but you have to pay these "bloggers" for the privelage. Is this a good way of furthering our social strategy in the short term, or is this the wrong way to go and do search engines devalue these links? My preference is to organically grow our presence through becoming a valuable contributor and have alsways strongly advocated this, however Ebuzzing or other simillar services sound too good to be true! Are they? Hope you can help me, and look forward to your thoughts. Many thanks Gary
