Keyword Research - Min "Volume" recommendations
-
Hi,
I've began doing some keyword research, the terms I am after are yielding "11-50" Volume in Keyword Explorer.
Should I bother optimizing for such a low volume?
Looking for existing member / community feedback.
Thank you.

I just inherited a new site with a similar issue...we're currently tracking more than 200 keywords. As I did some analysis on the search volume for each keyword, I found that about 50% have super low search volumes (>10 monthly searches). Should I stop tracking/optimizing those low search volume keywords? It seems like from what you guys are saying, it's not bad to keep it. Just wanted to confirm. thank you.

It depends. How relevant are these terms to your service?
For example, if you were a house cleaning service, and the 11-50 volume was "hire a house cleaning service" these searchers, while small, would be very important.
Usually lower volume keywords will be less competitive as well, so it can be an easy win for you.
It all depends on how much time you have to create content + what your goals are for ranking these terms.

Thank you for your input James.

Keyword Research Local vs Organic
I am curious what tact people take when doing KWR for a local business where regional keywords are important, for example 'Dallas Family Dentist' vs just 'Family Dentist'? It can be challenging to consistently create content for these regional keywords without looking spammy or akward in the wording of titles and copy. Any advice on how you approach SEO research or content creation when these regional words are important?

Discrepancies between SEOMOZ's Google api exact match search volume results and google's keyword tool, why?
I'm finding major discrepancies between SEOMOZ's google api exact match search volumes and Google's own keyword tool, why? For example, 'bridge loans' gets 1300 searchs according to Google's keyword tool, but SEOMOZ says it only gets 210 (both on exact match). So which one do I believe? I know one is the average over 12 months and the other is for last month alone but still that's a huge difference.
