Google+ Brand Account Separate from Google My Business
-
Hi everyone,
I tried to create a Google+ account from a client's Google My Business, but found that 'Enable Google+' is no longer available on the sidebar of the GMB dashboard. I used this tutorial to do that before - http://onlineownership.com/create-google-page-connected-google-business-page/
An update on that article:
Update: 31st October 2017
Google My Business has confirmed that enabling a G+ business page will no longer be available. Users will need to now create a G+ Brand page for their business on G+.My question is: If we create a separate G+ Brand page, are we still able to tie it up with GMB or are they going to be completely different platforms? On the dashboard for our older clients we have a list that goes like:
Your Business is Live on Google
- View on Search
- View on Maps
- View on Google+
In light of this new change. Do we still really have to bother creating G+ brand pages? It seems like the newly launched Google Posts is more user-friendly and easier to update. The posts could be created on GMB and it's going to appear on searches within the local knowledge graph. Thoughts?

They are indeed separated, to get your G+ page for your local listing to display in brandaccounts, create a new G+ page and use the exact URL you use for GMB. This will let Google know they are tied together.

Hi there, I found an answer to my question. Indeed, GMB and G+ are now two different entities and we no longer could create G+ from GMB. I found the following resources:
Use this link to start your G+ Brand page https://plus.google.com/brand
Manage G+ brand pages by switching from your avatar up on the right to "All your brand pages" or bookmark this link
https://myaccount.google.com/brandaccountsCreate and manage Collections for your brand. Here is a help article: https://plus.google.com/u/0/+NinaTrankova/posts/EYY9iu2JZFx

Fighting spam on Google Maps
"Suggest an edit" on Google Maps works occasionally and so does Google's Redressal Form. Sending a DM to @GoogleMyBiz on Twitter does too. But it seems like the vast majority of spammy businesses that I report, go unnoticed by Google. I'd really appreciate hearing from some other SEOs on how they remove crap from the map, with better results. Thanks.

Should apartment management companies have a separate website for each of their properties?
I work for a company that owns and manages apartments. I would like to know which of the two website design decisions are better from an SEO perspective: One single website that contains pages for all of our apartments. (Example: http://www.equityapartments.com) Separate websites for each apartment and one main corporate website allows users to search through our apartments. (Example: https://www.greystar.com) I have spoken to three marketing companies have all recommended option 2. The best reason I have heard is because then the separate apartments are all more likely to rank. They say Google doesn't want to rank multiple pages of the same website. But Google would still know that I have an administrative relationship between the sites. (Source: https://mza.bundledseo.com/blog/how-google-knows-what-sites-you-control-and-why-it-matters-whiteboard-friday) So I don't know why they would treat multiple sites differently than one site? For what it's worth, it seems the majority of apartment management companies use a different website for each property. So should have a separate website for each of their properties?

Google My Business Question
I work for a large organization with a number of locations. There is a Google My Business listing for us, under our umbrella name, that lists an old address (building we no longer occupy) and says that we are "permanently closed". I believe this is an unverified listing because there is an "own this listing?" link in it. In order to take control of the listing, Google gives us three options: call, text or snail mail. The number is an automated line so calling and texting aren't going to work and snail mail wouldn't work b/c we're no longer in the building. Anyone know how we can take control of this listing so that it doesn't look like we're "permanently closed?"

Google Knowledge Graph Missing Telephone Information/Multiple Locations
Does anyone have experience correcting the Google branded knowledge graph for a local listing? We have an issue with the knowledge graph not displaying telephone numbers on a clients local knowledge graph panel in the SERPs (for desktop searches). We manage over 1,500 local listings for the same company and the majority of those listings display telephone numbers on the right hand side of the branded knowledge graph panel. However, a handful do not display a telephone number. If you click through the map section of the knowledge graph panel, into the Google Maps/Google My Business page the numbers are listed, they are just not showing up on the knowledge graph panel in the SERPs. The local numbers are listed on the Google My Business page. Does anyone have any experience with this and can recommend what other items we should check for that could help get the numbers to show up on the on the knowledge graph panel in the SERPs? Thanks for the help!

This site seems impossible to connect with, has anybody else come up against situations like this in the past, if so what do you tell your client / what other approaches do people have? Thanks!
