Is MOZ any good to analyze an e-commerce site? How come that a cms page can be seen as duplicate content with a category page?
-
Hi Guys,
I've been using Moz for quite a long time now for 2 of my shops. Now I am in the process of launching the second shop and I just don't understand how is it possible that a cms static page (About US) to be seen as a duplicate content with other 96 pages - including product pages and other totally different pages such as delivery information, category pages, returns and so on. Really MOZ?? Is it me or you??
Your help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Thank you for your answer! I will look further into this!

Hi there,
Ok — I think I can help here. Our tool has a 90% tolerance for duplicate content, which means it will flag any content that has 90% of the same code between pages. This includes all the source code on the page and not just the viewable text, so often it's a matter of finding the best answer for the duplicate pages in question. It looks like your pages are very similar at the code level: https://www.screencast.com/t/owVhUHZZqF
I used a third-party similarity checker, so it's not just our tools seeing this similarity. You can check it out for yourself here: http://www.webconfs.com/seo-tools/similar-page-checker/
For solutions, it depends on the site. Often with ecommerce sites, product pages will come up with duplicate content between two colors of the same item, and in that case it's good to use the canonical tag: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/learn/seo/canonicalization. If there are two versions of the page that exist - for instance, example.com/subfolder and www.example.com/subfolder - you can put in 301 redirects to the correct page: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/learn/seo/redirection. If it's just two pages on different subjects but with thin content, filling out that content with an extra paragraph or two can help.

Hi Tawny! That was quick!
Here is an example. I know the site is still in dev phase but is really frustrating.
https://casagoda.com/pages/about-us - This seems to be the most authoritative page within this Duplicate Content issue.
Where any other page on the website is a duplicate of the above one. Ex: https://casagoda.com/collections/wardrobes

Hey there! Tawny from Moz's Help Team here.
It would be really help if we could take a look at exactly which Campaign you're talking about — please write in to [email protected] with the details of which Campaign you're looking at and which pages you think shouldn't be duplicates, and we'll do our best to help answer all your questions.
Thanks!
Tawny

Is Moz more accurate than Ahrefs ?
When I check my this website https://joinpakarmy.com.pk/ on Moz it gives me DA 3

But when I check it out on Ahrefs, it tells me there is no authority for this site.
So who is more accurate in the result?

Why are Internal, nofollowed links good for Domain Authority?
I always thought that internal links should be 'followed' to preserve link-juice.
Moz Bar | | BottleGreenWebsites
I've just been checking my Domain Authority Links overview, and the competitor with the most no-follow internal links has been rewarded with a higher Moz DA score.
Can anyone explain why this would be the case? JRJ4Dwn1 -
How do you use Moz to research related topics?
Like most of the folks here I'm a pretty big fan of the content that comes out through Whiteboard Fridays, and I try to apply the things I learn, but one of the WBF videos that I'm following along with does not do a stellar job of detailing execution using Moz KW Explorer. https://mza.seotoolninja.com/blog/related-topics-in-seo-whiteboard-friday Now granted, this came out in 2016, but I still feel the core principle and strategy results in a higher quality piece of content and is still relevant to discovering and understanding searcher task completion requirements, and drafting content that fulfills those requirements. Towards the end Rand sort of mentions that you'll be able to do this with KW explorer, but I'm not really seeing the functionality. The steps I followed were to enter in the keyword in kw explorer, went to keyword suggestions, and selected "based on closely related topics" and ran it, but received no suggestions - came up blank. I then selected "based on broadly related topics" and the same thing happened. I tried this out with the keyword r22, keeping it very broad to start but that didn't seem to work. So what do you all do to perform this sort of research within Moz? Or do you even feel it's relevant in today's Rank Brain driven world?

I have recently switzed to SSL on ramxpert.dk, now Moz is not able to crawl the site anymore
Hi Moz I have recently switzed to SSL on ramxpert.dk, now Moz is not able to crawl anymore. When I look at the crawl report there is just one fault displayed: "403 : Received 403 (Forbidden) error response for page." How can i solve this issue asap? I was not aware that there would be any issues with moz when activating a SSL certificate on the site. The campaign with the problem is: ramxpert.dk. Regards

On-Page Grader URL inaccessible when copy/pasted but not when edited
Hi!, I've looked through multiple topics on this but none quite seem to fit what's going on - hopefully someone can help! I get the error message 'Sorry, but that URL is inaccessible.' when I copy and paste a url from my site into the search e.g. http://www.orbussoftware.com/enterprise-architecture/ However if I edit this to https the search completes fine. Since we redesigned our site approx 6 months ago, we've found most of our rankings have completely dropped off, and now I'm getting this error I'm wondering if it has something to do with how our site is structured? If I'm getting this error with Moz does that mean Google could be having issues too? Or is it all just a strange quirk? Thanks!

Is Moz going to provide mobile ranking tools?
With the mobilegeddon update quickly approaching us on April 21, I wanted to know if Moz is going to provide any insight into mobile rankings vs. desktop rankings? Are there any other tools we can use to benchmark and gain insight into this kind of data?

Duplicate Home Page in Moz Report
I recently ran a crawl report in MOZ for www.laddersfree.co.uk and it has picked duplicate pages for my home page. The two pages are www.laddersfree.co.uk and www.laddersfree.co.uk The CMS System my developer is using is Concrete5. If you look at the source code there is a Canonical <link rel="<a class="attribute-value">canonical</a>" href="http://www.laddersfree.co.uk/" /> I am very confused as to why there are two pages picked up in the crawl. Can someone offer any advice please? Thank you. Jason

Clarify "broad keyword usage in page title"
Hello Page grader has two different grades for page title that I want clarification on. There is "Broad Keyword Usage in Page Title" and "Exact Keyword Usage in Page Title". Googling around about and searching here I have found that "broad" seems to mean the keywords should be used throughout the page, rather than just in the title and header. Which makes sense as this is a kind of check to ensure the page IS about the keywords and not something unrelated. But what is meant by "broad" usage in the page title? This refers specifically to the page title and not the whole document. My best guess got me to this, given the keyword "Visit London Today"; "Come and visit London today" - exact match only "London - visit today" - broad match only "Visit London the city of dreams | visit London today" - matches both That could be complete nonsense, but basically is broad usage the use of keywords scattered in the page title? Thanks.
