H tags and Topics
-
Hello,
When google is looking for topics does it combine all the H tags or does it look at H tag after H tag
For example let's imagine I have an H2 and under that H2 I have 5 H3.
To find the topic(s) of my page does it look at each H3 separtly and says H3 number 1 has this topic, h3 number 2 has this topic and so on or does it take all the content within the 5 H3 to find the topic of the H2 ?
Thank you,
-
Hi seoanalytics. It's not necessary that your H2 tags respond to people's questions.
H2 is for subheadings of that H1. Use it to divide content into scannable blocks; both Google and your visitor will like it. H3 is for subheadings of that H2, preferably. Sometimes I use H3 for blocks that should be H2, but just don’t hold that much information for the visitor.
H2 tags make you think about the structure and page layout of your blog. An 800-word blog may seem like a good idea. And, in fact, Google loves a page with a lot of information and depth. But you should help your audience out and give them lots of subheadings to make reading easier.
Think of H2 tags as tiny table of contents pieces, showing your readers where to go and what they can expect to find in the given sections of your blog. What’s more, H2 tags must be optimized accordingly with your keyword phrases of choice, since they help SERP crawler bots interpret your pages and rank them accordingly.

Thank you for detailed reply.
I noticed that your H2 tags do answer peoples questions.
How about if for the keyword you target people don't have questions (what I mean by that is that in the keyword tool) all there is are synonyms of my targeted keyword.
For example in the keyword tool if I type hiking tour Tuscany I will find synonyms and nothing else
Hiking vacations tuscany
Hiking holidays tuscany
Hiking trip tuscany
But no questions like you would find on other keywords such as title tag where people ask :
what is the optimal length of a title tag
what is the definition of a title tag
etc...
So how do you answer people's questions when they don't have any
Thanks,

Hi seoanalytics.
The h1 tag is one of the most important among the more than 200 SEO factors , as it helps Google understand what is the highlight of your article . It must be unique for each article or page. The h1 must contain keywords (keywords in English) that help position the article taking into account what people are looking for. The titles you choose for your posts are actually the h1.
The h2 are the subtitles . They are perfect to separate content and give a little more information to Google. They should contain synonyms or words related to the main theme of the post. They can also be used as an introduction. This is what I do in all my posts and it works very well.
The h3 are subtitles within h2. They are added the same as the h2 and should focus on the content of the subtitle. The content of the h3 must contain related keywords that help position. Next I show an example :
-
How to be an SEO expert (h1)
-
Necessary knowledge (h2)
- Paragraphs
- Programming (h3)
- Paragraphs
- Marketing Digital (h3)
- Paragraphs
- Social networks (h3)
- Paragraphs
-
Courses (h2)
- Paragraphs
-
Experiences (h2)
- Paragraphs
- In companies (h3)
- Paragraphs
- Personal projects (h3)
- Paragraphs
-
Conclusions (h2)
-
Paragraphs
Another example. Here is where I live:
Earth
Europe
Spain
Community Of Madrid
Madrid
Puente de Vallecas
I would recommend that possibly you keep your pages specific about one topic and use:
- One h1 Element
- As many as required h2 elements to denote sections on the page (1-3 h2 elements).
- Consider using h3 Elements for useful link groups to other relevant sources but advice would be to try and keep headings for main context text content and not to group template navigation, for instance.
I hope I've helped.

Href Lang tags in audit
Hi I am getting a couple of issues flag with my href lang tags, but when I manually check the pages I can't see the issues. Issue 1. No self referencing href lang tag example URL - http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/300kg-capacity-manutan-mobile-lift-table-lift-height-860mm-125h204 (these are SKU pages with duplicate content, so we have canonicals pointing to the main product page) Issue 2. Conflicting hreflang and rel=canonical - http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/500kg-capacity-manutan-mobile-lift-table-lift-height-945mm-127h204 I have checked the source code of the pages with errors against the pages which don't have errors and they look the same - so I am unsure what's wrong?

What is the impact of an off-topic page to other pages on the site?
We are working with a client who has one irrelevant, off-topic post ranking incredibly well and driving a lot of traffic. However, none of the other pages on the site, that are relevant to this client's business, are ranking. Links are good and in-line with competitors for the various terms. Oddly, very few external links reference this off-topic post, most are to the home page. Local profile is also in-line with competitors, including reviews, categorization, geo-targeting, pictures, etc. No spam issues exist and no warnings in Google Search Console. The only thing that seems weird is this off-topic post but that could affect rankings on other pages of the site? Would removing that off-topic post potentially help increase traffic and rankings for the other more relevant pages of the site? Appreciate any and all help or ideas of where to go from here. Thanks!

Should Schema.org Tags go on every page?
Happy Monday Moz World! I am just wondering what are some best practices when using Schema.org Tags. For Example, I have a client who provides multiple services and provides unique content on each webpage. The design of each of the webpagesare unique, and conveys information differently. My question is: If each page of a company's website has unique content that describes a service or product, could I essentially change the url & description of the Schema Tag so that each of my pages are indexable by relationship to that page's content? Thanks ahead of time for the great responses! B/R Will

Putting Dates In Title Tag
Hi, I have a site were I write previews for sports match ups. I notice when I don't put the date in the title I rank much better for specific keywords. I also noticed that most people don't really put in the date when they do the search anyways, especially since google does a good job of showing the most recent pages anyways. The only reason I continue to put the date is because of this whole idea of not having page titles that are duplicate. So many of our games will be Team A vs Team B Preview, and Im worried that the term "preview" will become so repetitive that google may not like it. Any tips or ideas on how to approach this issue best? Thanks!

SEO Title Versus Meta Description Tag
From an SEO perspective, is the title tag more important than the description tag? We use a set format for these tags on our real estate web site. The site contains 300 listings. Sample Title Tag:

Greenwich Village | Office Space Rental| 2300SF $9583/month Sample Description Tag:
Classic Greenwich Village office rental. Hardwood floors, 11' ceiling. 5 oversized windows. 24/7 attended lobby. Renovated common areas. Below market rent. Are we shooting ourselves in the foot by repeating the Square Footage and monthly rent amounts in the title tag? Should this tag be used for a short more descriptive terms so as to maximize the SEO benefit? Should these numbers be listed in the description tag? The listings are not heavily SEO optimized so I don't know whether this is really a non-issue.0 -
SEO mobile app optimization: multi tag link alternate media per every devices is acceptable in the desktop page?
Hi All, Hi hope someone could answer to this question because on internet I haven't found a clear solution so far: I have: 1 desktop website (let's make www.example.com) and different mobile websites for each main device (let's make iphone.example.mobi; android.example.mobi; winphone.example.mobi) In order to optimize my mobile websites, According to the Google guideline of the above separate urls configuration , I should add a tag link alternate media in the desktop page and a canonical tag in the corresponding mobile page in order to create a connection between them. But, I need to keep a 1-to-1 connection between desktop page and mobile page (Google recommends to have 1 desktop page linked to 1 mobile page and viceversa and discourages the 1-to-multi connections). What I would like: In my case, I have to add the a single desktop page of desktop site (example www.example.com/category1/), 3 links alternate media tag,( one for iphone.example.mobi, one for android.example.mobi and one for winphone.example.mobi). Furthemore, I have to add a canonical tag in every corresponding mobile page of the 3 mobile site version, a canonical tag pointing to my sektop page www.example.com/category1/. Now my worries are: having a single desktop page with 3 different link alternate tags pointing to 3 different mobile websites (one each), is something or not aligned to the google seo mobile guideline? If not, How should I configure my desktop website and my 3 mobile web applications(iphone, android, winphone) in order to follow the Google requirements for Separate urls apllication? Thanks, Massimliano

Not using a robot command meta tag
Hi SEOmoz peeps. Was doing some research on robot commands and found a couple major sites that are not using them. If you check out the code for these: http://www.amazon.com http://www.zappos.com http://www.zappos.com/product/7787787/color/92100 http://www.altrec.com/ You fill not find a meta robot command line. Of course you need the line for any noindex, nofollow, noarchive pages. However for pages you want crawled and indexed, is there any benefit for not having the line at all? Thanks!
