My translated pages are categorized as subpages of the originals / Importance of hreflang tags
-
Hi there
We have a website that is originally in German, but has an English translation for all pages.
I recently created a crawl map for it, which showed that all our translated pages are indexed as subpages of the German originals. I wonder if this is normal, or if it will have a negative impact on our SEO.If they are subpages, will Google still index and rank them with the same importance as the originals?
If not, what can I do to make them standalone pages and not subpages? Also, we have a few issues with hreflang tags that we cannot fix easily as our CMS does not give us a flexible option for editing our code. I wonder how much impact hreflang tags have on our ranking and if we can just disregards these issues?
We use Hubspot as a CMS, if that matters.
Thanks for your feedback!

Hreflang will help guide Google to understand the association of the pages. Rather than add another sitemap for the English pages, I recommend updating your current sitemap to include hreflang tags to the english content.

Establishing our web pages as the original source
I'm currently working on a recrutiment website. One of the things we do to drive traffic to the site is post our job listings out to a number of job boards eg. Indeed. These sites replicate our own job listings which means that for every job there are at least 5-10 exact duplicates on the web. By nature the job boards have good domain authority so they always rank above us but I would still expect to see more in the way of long-tail traffic. Is it necessary for me to claim our own job listings as the original source and if so, how do I go about doing it? Thanks

Does http://my.dudamobile.com/ Effect SEO
Hi, Hope everyone is enjoying the new year! I was wondering if converting your desk top website to a mobile one, example via http://my.dudamobile.com/, has any negative effects on SEO. Did it effect your site? Do you recommend doing it? Does it effect links? When people link to your desk top URL does that authority carry to the mobile, or would it be better if they link to the mobile (m.website.com) URL? Is http://my.dudamobile.com/ a good choice? Any feedback, as always, is greatly appreciated! Thanks Jimmy

If a permanent redirect is supposed to transfer SEO from the old page to the new page, why has my domain authority been impacted?
For example, we redirected our old domain to a new one (leaving no duplicate content on the old domain) and saw a 40% decrease in domain authority. Isn't a permanent redirect supposed to transfer link authority to the place it is redirecting to? Did I do something wrong?

Can I put the tag in the MasterPage of my ASP.NET website or does this need to be specific to each page?
Hi Moz Community, I am a designer/junior SEO'er and have been working with our web developer to setup SEO oriented redirects and the rel canonical tag on our ASP.NET page running MasterPages - www.tisbest.org. I know setting up an incorrect canonical tag can be devastating so I'm hoping for some guidance. Can we put the <title> </span>Charity Gift Cards | Donation Gift Ideas | TisBest Philanthropy</p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"> </span></p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"></title> Thanks! Advice on importing content please to keep page fresh
Hi i am working on a site at the moment http://www.cheapflightsgatwick.com which is a travel news and holiday news site but i am trying to find out what is best reference content for the following section http://www.cheapflightsgatwick.com/humberside-airport What i am thinking of doing to keep google keep coming to my section of the site is to import content, what i mean is, to use google for keywords such as humerside airport and have the stories appear on this page as well as writing my own content. I was thinking of importing content because it would help keep the page fresh without my original content become too old but i am concerned about this and not sure if it is the right thing to do. i am concerned if i do this if my rankings would reduce because i am importing content and for people to read the rest of the story they will have to leave my site. i am also worried that google will reduct points for duplicate content. can anyone let me know what i should do, if i should just stick to original content and not import it or to import it and if i should import it using google news how would i do this. many thanks

Redesign existing websites / worried about urls / mapping
Hi Guys, While redesigning existing websites that will have page name changes such as: example.com/products to be called example.com/solutions example.com/about-us to be called example.com/about should I 301 the old url to the new url. In the past I have not done this & I'm just wondering from an SEO point of view how bad is this? (On a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is this not 301ing urls, 10 being really bad & 1 being fine), Thanks.

Too many on page links for WP blog page
Hello, I have set my WP blog to a page so new posts go to that page making it the blog. On a SEOmoz campaign crawl, it says there are too many links on one page, so does this mean that as I am posting my blog posts to this page, the search engines are seeing the page as one page with links instead of the blog posts? I worry that if I continue to add more posts (which obviously I want to) the links will increase more and more, meaning that they will be discounted due to too many links. What can I do to rectify this? Many thanks in advance
