Would love a second opinion
-
Hi Mozzers, i have been tirelessly working on our site www.palicomp.co.uk for the past few months auditing and fixing what we can, we have recently recovered from a mind bending google panda penalty, but i would really love a second quick glance from another mozzer to see if theres anything glaringly obvious that we have missed onpage or looks wrong if anyone has 2 minutes of time to give
-
Hi Chris, yes i have been recommending a move from this old version of cubecart for four months, no avail :(.
However the isse of noindexing is not really down to cubecart, its down to product listing managers copying data from other sources and not having the time to update it, as we sell our own products and they are not branded, the noindex issue on products is not a huge issue but i agree we are definately missing our on long tails!
-
If you've had to noindex your products I would seriously be looking at ditching Cubecart.
-
Thanks Sebastian, yes that is on our list, our system (cubecart) is the bane of my life and this filtered search is tough to canonical properly we have had to noindex all our products because of the amount of dupes in information on components.
-
Quickly glancing over it. I'd recommend looking at your canonical tags on your search results / categories within the sidebar.
I understand that you're linking to "search results" but if it's one of your main navigation widgets then maybe think about creating proper pages for them?
E.G - http://www.palicomp.co.uk/facets/attr_Range-High_Performance
Canonical :/cat_.html
I'd say you'd be losing out on a lot of long tail searches if those pages aren't readily accessible e.g PC under £500
Aside from that it's looking good.

Moving to a new domain for second time - critical, help needed fast!
Hello, Important: please do not ask why we need to change the domain, its not the matter at all, thank you for understanding. Over a month ago we successfully changed our domain name, 301 redirected, did GWT 'change of address' and all. The old domain was 2 years old, ranking very well, the new domain change of address was a success and traffic back on the new domain after a week. Today we need to change the domain name again, unfortunately, for some reasons, we have to, however we are not sure what to do in GWT, when I went to 'change of address' in the domain (the new first domain), i saw the following message (screenshot attached too): This site is undergoing a move Old URL | New URL If any URL on the left should not be moved, you can withdraw its move request. To do this, click the URL and then Withdraw. Now our questions: 1. For second time moving to a new domain, we should move from the old first domain (301 from the first old domain) or from the second domain (301 from the second domain)? 2. If from the old first domain, should we Withdraw from the first domain (lift up the first change of address in GWT) and then redirect the old first domain to the second new domain (the one we want to move now)? If yes, what to do with the first new domain (the one which we moved to a month ago) 3. If we should move from the first new domain, then what to do? The situation is clear but confusing what to do? It's just that we need to change the domain name again, move to a new one, for the second time, now we should redirect from the first old domain or first new domain? I purchased MOZ just to get help from you guys here, the only place i thought I could be helped. Of course gonna use Moz service too now that i have puurchased it 🙂 Awaiting your quick help guys. Thank you! 8csVpOZ2QoiYCoTR1t_SnQ.png

Google Page Speed Score 91, But 5-8 Seconds to Download URL
Greetings MOZ Community: In Google Analytics under "Site Speed" under "Behavior" our home page has a page speed rank of 91 which I assume is pretty fast. However the "Average Page Load Time" is varies between 5 and 8 seconds, which seems very slow. My developers have made major efforts to optimize the home page URL (www.nyc-officespace-leader.com) for speed. The page has a carousel which I assume may be slowing it down. Is the download speed of this page detrimental to SEO? Or is the favorable Page Speed Score good enough. I am particularly concerned because the most competitive phrases are ranked on the home page. As it stands I am having a lot of difficulty ranking in the top ten for these pages. My concern is that the slow download speed of the home page could be holding back ranking of these terms. If necessary I can always redesign the home page and remove the carousel or reduce the number of listings in the carousel to speed it up. Is this worth investing effort in or is the speed good enough? Thanks, Alan

Disavow first (and link removal outreach second) as tactic?
I need to remove/disavow hundreds of domains due to an algorithmic penalty. Has anyone disavowed first and done the outreach thing second as a tactic? The reason why I was considering this was as follows: Most of the websites are from spammy websites and unlikely to have monitored accounts/available contact details. My business is incredibly seasonal, only being easily profitable for half of the year. The season starts from next month so the window of opportunity to get it done is small. If there's a Penguin update before I get it done, then it could be very bad news. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. (Incidentally, if you are interested in, I also posted here about it: http://moz.com/community/q/honest-thoughts-needed-about-link-building-removal)

Our quilting site was hit by Panda/Penguin...should we start a second "traffic" site?
I built a website for my wife who is a quilter called LearnHowToMakeQuilts.com. However, it has been hit by Panda or Penguin (I’m not quite sure) and am scared to tell her to go ahead and keep building the site up. She really wants to post on her blog on Learnhowtomakequilts.com, but I’m afraid it will be in vain for Google’s search engine. Yahoo and Bing still rank well. I don’t want her to produce good content that will never rank well if the whole site is penalized in some way. I’ve overly optimized in linking strongly to the keywords “how to make a quilt” for our main keyword, mainly to the home page and I think that is one of the main reasons we are incurring some kind of penalty. First main question: From looking at the attached Google Analytics image, does anyone know if it was Panda or Penguin that we were “hit” by? And, what can be done about it? (We originally wanted to build a nice content website, but were lured in by a get rich quick personality to rather make a “squeeze page” for the Home page and force all your people through that page to get to the really good content. Thus, our avenge time on site per person is terrible and Pages per Visit is low at: 1.2. We really want to try to improve it some day. She has a local business website, Customcarequilts.com that did not get hit. Second question: Should we start a second site rather than invest the time in trying to repair the damage from my bad link building and article marketing? We do need to keep the site up and running because it has her online quilting course for beginner quilters to learn how to quilt their first quilt. We host the videos through Amazon S3 and were selling at least one course every other day. But now that the Google drop has hit, we are lucky to sell one quilting course per month. So, if we start a second site we can use that to build as a big content site that we can use to introduce people to learnhowtomakequilts.com that has Martha’s quilting course. So, should we go ahead and start a new fresh site rather than to repair the damage done by my bad over optimizing? (We’ve already picked out a great website name that would work really well with her personal facebook page.) Or, here’s a second option, which is to use her local business website: customcarequilts.com. She created it in 2003 and has had it ever since. It is only PR 1. Would this be an option? Anyway I’m looking for guidance on whether we should pursue repairing the damage and whether we should start a second fresh site or use an existing site to create new content (for getting new quilters to eventually purchase her course). Am I jumping the gun? Second guessing myself...
Hi, I'm pretty new to SEO and I'm trying to figure out if I'm on the right track. Mid May I rebuilt a website completely from .asp to .php, the original site was completely makeshift and had some really un-pretty code in it, not to mention the design was completely out of date. Since I rebuilt it the search has slowed and then picked up a little now it's slowed to almost a stop. I know it hasn't been that long, but am I doing something wrong? I know the think i'm missing most is link-building which we are working on now, but is there something else I'm missing to make the search drop like this this past week? I feel like it's soo much better then before but I'm not seeing any results and now I'm really second guessing myself? Any suggestions? please help! the site: http://www.moondoggieinc.com THANKS! KristyO

Leveraging a second valuable domain, which has no content currently.
Hello All, Wow, people answer very quickly, concisely and are well informed. Very impressive. I have a question that may be a little different. I have a current site which ranks well, and has lots of links etc etc.. 1. http://www.symbolphot*.com ** * replace the * with an o**. Key search term for this site: "B*ston Wedding Photographer" The second site i own: 2. B*stonWeddingPhotographer.com is currently empty. I can do whatever i want with this site. I was thinking that since my site is mostly images, i could start a duplicate wordpress blog with the same images, but different page text and alt tags to the same images. Obviously, since 'b*ston wedding photographer" is the phrase i want to rank #1 for, how should i go about leveraging the power of the URL? Do you have alternate suggestions beyond duplicating image content? I don't really see a way around that as it's ultimately the images i'm selling to potential clients. And the last part of my question is, how strong are my chances of ranking #1 for "Bston Wedding Photographer" while publishing good content on Bstonweddingphotographer.com ?

Opinions on Building Own Blog Network (Private Use Only)
With the lose of buildmyrank and many other services like this on the verge of extension I was looking at building a small blog network of my own for private use. Adsense and also 3 way linking. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this? I know this takes a ton of time to build but if anyone who's done something like this and wouldn't mind sharing some of their tips I would greatly appriciate it. Quick Question

Is it safe to register say 30 domains under the same person? Or would it be wiser to use whois protection to guard the names? Anyone else want to contribute their 2c to this strategy please be my guest.0
