"New" issues not previously found being shown?
-
I'm not sure what logic Moz is using for its reporting of Site Crawl issues, but it appears to be pretty flawed (unless I'm missing something, which is possible).
I've got a client site that has been in Moz for about 6 months now. Every time the crawler runs, the same number of pages are reported as having been crawled. However I'm consistently getting "New Issues" reported that should have been reported during previous crawls.
Example: A redirect chain was reported several month ago. The referring URL was the homepage of the website, and we tracked it down to an old link in the header. This was fixed, marked as resolved, and the issue was not shown on the next crawl. Several weeks later, the same issue was reported for a different page on the website - a page which has existed since 2014 and was already crawled many times. Again, we fixed. Fast-forward to the report that just ran on 12/1 and we have the same issue reported, for a different page, which has also existed for years and has been previously crawled.
It's very hard to explain to a client "this item you are seeing has been resolved", only to have it continually crop back up in future reports. Note this is not limited to redirect chains - that's just an example. I'm seeing this for other items such as missing canonicals, duplicate titles, etc.

Well, you can't 100% rely on third-party tools anyways they might miss it sometimes especially Moz, they are still rookie in this. The other day, I got an email from Moz saying that we couldn't crawl one of your site "Warning" Red alert etc, Robots.txt isn't there. I doubled check it manually everything was smooth and then I made Moz re-crawl the site to check if everything is okay so yes it was.
Moz needs to work hard to improve their tool and it's function it doesn't give you the proff look and feel.

So the community is aware, I wrote into Moz for clarification on this and the response was:
Unfortunately it would not be possible to retroactively investigate why we were not previously picking up on these issues as I can only see your site as it is now.
So....either Moz software has a bug, or is not actually crawling sites in their entirety as they say they are. It's one or the other...

Thanks Meghan; I've sent an email in with 3 examples from 3 different campaigns.

Hi there!
Thanks so much for the great question! We'd be more than happy to look into this for you. Can you send an email on over to [email protected] with the Campaign you're working with and some specific examples of the new issues you're seeing? That way we can dig into this and see what's going on.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Odd crawl test issues
Hi all, first post, be gentle... Just signed up for moz with the hope that it, and the learning will help me improve my web traffic. Have managed to get a bit of woe already with one of the sites we have added to the tool. I cannot get the crawl test to do any actual crawling. Ive tried to add the domain three times now but the initial of a few pages (the auto one when you add a domain to pro) will not work for me. Instead of getting a list of problems with the site, i have a list of 18 pages where it says 'Error Code 902: Network Errors Prevented Crawler from Contacting Server'. Being a little puzzled by this, i checked the site myself...no problems. I asked several people in different locations (and countries) to have a go, and no problems for them either. I ran the same site through Raven Tool site auditor and got some results. it crawled a few thousand pages. I ran the site through screaming frog as google bot user agent, and again no issues. I just tried the fetch as Gbot in WMT and all was fine there. I'm very puzzled then as to why moz is having issues with the site but everyone is happy with it. I know the homepage takes 7 seconds to load - caching is off at the moment while we tweak the design - but all the other pages (according to SF) take average of 0.72 seconds to load. The site is a magento one so we have a lengthy robots.txt but that is not causing problems for any of the other services. The robots txt is below. Too many products on the site at the moment (250k plus) which manufacturer default descriptions so we have blocked them and are working on getting the category pages and guides listed. In time we will rewrite the most popular products and unblock them as we go Many thanks Carl0 -
New video section within keyword research
I notice there is a new section to the top left of the search page referring to videos. What's this? Is it to research our own video performance? If so, how do I use it?

We Launched a new site and Rogerbot is still reporting on links/errors from the old site, is there a way to clear those out?
We are mostly a Branding agency, and have not put a lot of effort into SEO for ourselves... SEO tends to take a backseat to design most of the time, making it a little difficult for me at times when it comes to SEO. We recently launched a new site, http://Roninadv.com/ and the developer and I have done quite a bit of work to make it work well for Google. I was really looking forward to a new crawl report from Roger, but alas, It's like Roger crawled the old site? The new site has been up since last Monday. Is there a way to clear out the old errors? Do I just need to give roger more time?

MozBar "Page Load Time" result -140... seconds
Hello all, I have gone through a lot of work to optimize the page size and load time for my site (http://goo.gl/0SYrns) Here is the result: http://www.webpagetest.org/result/140618_6V_PDZ/ And my competitor (http://goo.gl/j7YBcn😞 http://www.webpagetest.org/result/140618_TN_PGP/ According to that tool (and many others) my site is considerably faster than his. However, when I check in the MozBar, the result for mu site is less than 0, around 1 second but his is -1403106240.403 seconds. So how do I get to such a result? I did everything, optimization, cds, etc...

How can I find the old ERRORS and WARNINGS report in the NEW Moz design?
I'm looking for a complete list of errors and bugs that need to be fixed within a website. I used to use the MAIN tool (at least it seemed it was the most popular) but now that its just MOZ.com I can't seem to find that great report. It had data such as: 1. List of pages with Title Tags too long 2. List of pages with Description Tags too long 3. List of RED errors and YELLOW warnings, BLUE somethings... etc... Ring a bell? I LOVED this report, where can I find this data? Thanks! Derek

Issues adding keywords to MOZ analytics
Hi All 🙂 I've started a couple of campaigns in MOZ Analytics, one accepts keywords the other looks like it does but doesn't actually add them.. I'm pasting a group of keywords, about 30, all separated with comma's. Doing exactly the same to one account that congratulated me straight away and added them to the list below, yay! The other shows the spinning wheel for a few seconds and does nothing further, I've waited a good 24 hours and they keywords have not appeared. Any help appreciated! Thanks 🙂
