Why do my Moz duplicate content results show me pages with no noticeably similar content?
-
Sometimes the "Pages with Duplicate Content" results under Content Issues show pages that, from what I'm able to see or otherwise test, have no duplicate content, save for the same navigation that exists on all of my pages.
For example, a recent issue said that the following pages had duplicate content:
https://freezerworks.com/index.php/html/slider-overlay
https://freezerworks.com/index.php/ufaqs/what-do-i-get-with-my-purchase-of-freezerworks
https://freezerworks.com/index.php/videos/fda-and-freezerworks-2
https://freezerworks.com/index.php/lims-testing-moduleEven a side-by-side of the page source in a text comparison tool shows nothing but navigation and scripts used in every page.
Am I not seeing something?

We had a similar situation and a Moz rep (thanks Samantha) pointed out in the Help material (very close to what she wrote in the earlier post) about the 90% figure. We realized the reason for the message - because the affected pages had very little content and the page header section and the page footer section (word press site) dominated the page content. We realized the issue could be ignored in our case.

Hi there,
Sam from Moz's Help Team here!
Thanks for writing in — that's an excellent question! Our tool has a 90% tolerance for duplicate content, which means it will flag any content that has 90% of the same code between pages. This includes all the source code on the page and not just the viewable text, so often it's a matter of finding the best answer for the duplicate pages in question.
If you use a Similar Page Checker like this one: https://smallseotools.com/similar-sites/ you can see that https://freezerworks.com/index.php/html/slider-overlay and https://freezerworks.com/index.php/ufaqs/what-do-i-get-with-my-purchase-of-freezerworks actually have a similarity of 96%.
There are more in-depth explanations of common answers to duplicate content on this page, if you're curious!: https://mza.bundledseo.com/learn/seo/duplicate-content
I hope this helps but definitely let me know if you have any other questions, or if there's anything else I can help with!

To be honest, if it's on Moz don't sweat about the error message about duplicate content, especially since can see it. However if it on GSC, take action.

How can a page have high Google/ organic traffic but show no ranking keywords in Moz?
We have a page on our website with a higher than average number of pageviews, 85% of which came from Google organic search. When I research this page by entering the URL into the "exact page" keyword research tool, Moz says it has no ranking keywords. How can a page be earning organic traffic without ranking for any keywords?

On-Page Grader giving wrong results for missing keyword in image Alt Attribute
I'm trying to optimize for the Keyword "River City Apartments" on this page: https://3fconstruction.net/case-studies/river-city-apartments-chicago-condo-deconversion-renovation/ When I use On-Page Grader to see how I'm doing it's telling me I'm missing the Keyword in the Image Alt Attribute. However, it's clearly in there. <strong>River City Apartments Aerial</strong> What am I missing?

Can you give some examples of MOZ Local Partners who have an API and update quickly?
In answering questions about the speed of MOZ Local, I've seen this a few times: "The time it takes our partners to update the listing really depends on whether or not they have an API. If they do have an API, the listing will be updated pretty much immediately." Can someone provide a list of which Partners have an API, and which do not?

Is there a way to get Page Authority values included in the Crawl Diagnostic .csv export?
Would be nice to have these values included so that you can sort by Page Authority. 4uF6efx.png

Moz Dupe content crawl anomaly
Hi Moz has completed a crawl for a site i'm working on which also has a development area (hence with lots of dupe content) on a sub domain (and this dev area hasn't been hidden from crawlers via password, robots, gwt etc etc). Moz dupe content report is not showing any of these urls though even though my campaign setting is on 'root' domain so i would have thought report should be listing the subdomain urls as dupe content (because they are dupe content). Any ideas ? Cheers Dan
