Backlink (which one is better)
-
Hi, for guest posting which Anchor is better for my brand website?
1)Naked Anchor text (e.g according to www.example.co.uk)
OR
- Branded Anchor text? (e.g according to Example, which can be clicked to www.example.co.uk )
Thank you

Hi,
I agree with Bagia. It must be a natural link, mixing the anchor text. And not everyone should go to the homepage.Regards

This one is better e.g according to www.example.co.uk

What is your product &/ or service? Use that as anchor text.

Mix your anchors as much as possibly. Build naked links, brand links, generic terms, exact match terms (keep the ratio below 10%), long tail variations, picture images etc. Don't only focus on one keyword or url, that way you'll stay out of Google penalties.

Think that doesn't matter to much (if your domain is branded). At least I prefer a branded anchor, easier to click and when you change the domain (for whatever reason) the guy who clicks is not wondering to much when he gets redirected to a different domain.

Are "Powered By..." type footer backlinks good or bad for SEO?
Hi guys, We're running a software company which is also selling WP themes amongst other things. We've heard recently that footer backlinks like "Powered by BigBangThemes" might do more harm than good. Some clients usually forget to change them - so we want to make sure we stop including them in case this is true. Thanks!

Why does Google display the home page rather than a page which is better optimised to answer the query?
I have a page which (I believe) is well optimised for a specific keyword (URL, title tag, meta description, H1, etc). yet Google chooses to display the home page instead of the page more suited to the search query. Why is Google doing this and what can I do to stop it?

Multi URL treated as one?
I had previous asked this question, where the issue turned out to be that I didn't have all the URLs in Google Search console. Whoops! So I have added 4 properties that are really all the same property: https:// https://www http:// http://www I have added all of these. This has raised a few more questions: Can I get Google Search Console to treat these (and even group these together) to show as one property? Right now they are all listed separately. I know in Site Settings you can set a Preferred Site. Even so, they show as separate sites with data separately. Can I merge these? What about Moz? Should I do something similar to see traffic for each of these in Moz? It looks like we are missing a ton of info. Does Moz get this from GSC automatically? What about sitemaps? Can I fix this in sitemaps? Do I need separate sitemaps for each property?

Offering discounts and getting backlinks - concerned.
Hiya Mozzers, My client is about to offer discounts (to a few large multinationals... for staff) and there's every possibility these will appear on the web, with a backlink to my client's website (perhaps direct via websitest / via online newsletters and so on). I am thinking of telling client to restrict the number of companies they interact with while I monitor backlinks in case there's some kind of problem with backlinks generated. I am also telling them on no account to ask for backlinks or encourage keyword rich links. Any thoughts on this, anybody? Is there a risk of penalty or am I just being paranoid?

Building Backlinks to Backlinks?
Should I be building back links to my Back links, I have a fairly decent amount of guest post on decent to standard blogs and just wondered if I should be building a few medium quality back links to these. I can understand that I should just build all links to my website but there are a lot of opportunities on cheaper blogs such as little better than article submission sites which I would not really want my main site on would this help?

Can your site be penalised by backlinks?
Hi, I just wanted to get some clarification on whether Google would penalize your site if you had many links coming from a questionable site. We've been struggling with rankings for years even though we have one of the oldest sites in the industry with a good link profile and the site is well optimized. I was looking through webmaster tools and noticed that one website links to us over 100,000 times, all to the home page. The site is www.vietnamfuntravel.com. When I looked at the site it seems that they operate a massive links exchange, I'm not sure what the history is and why they link to us so much though. Is there any chance that this could impact us negatively? if it is then what would be the best way to deal with the situation? I could ask them to take the links down but can't guarantee they would do it quickly (if at all). Would blocking their domain from our htaccess file have the desired effect?
