Use of subfolders for my casino directory
-
Been trying to find an answer to this for some time, so I hope someone can lend me a hand..
I've started building out my casino website Nerdybet, which will list regulated gaming vendors within each US state. A part of the idea is to create a high level web directory of legal betting sites.
Now, say I want to list all legal casinos within a specific US state. What's the most search engine friendly way to build out the hierarchy?
To clarify, this will be the main casino directory page: https://www.nerdybet.com/gambling-sites-directory
Based on that, I can now pick either:
a) Nerdybet.com/gambling-sites-directory/stateX
b)Nerdybet.com/stateXWhich method would you say is best? And why so?
Thank you.

I personally favour
a) Nerdybet.com/gambling-sites-directory/stateX
I find it more descriptive & I can add keywords to the URLsy
-
It is correct and make sure the Home page is framed as the Directory for Betting etc.

Thanks man. See, that's the "gist" I've been getting from reading about this elsewhere as well. It appears that complicating things by adding subfolders is unnecessary, unless one operates a big online sales platform with large inventories.
I will go with the solution you suggested.

The second is preferred.
Why primarily as the Title of the Home page is focused on being web directory of legal betting sites, it flows that the first subfolder is location. If you adopt the first option, you are practically trying to rank the inner page as the home page,
The second option is shorter, more consumer friendly. and more search engine friendly.
Hope that helps.

Use of trademarks in tags and text
Does Google spider read registered trademarks (the 'R' or 'TM') or do these marks impede anything if they are featured in meta tags or text?

Difference in using dividers in TITLE TAG
Hi everyone, i know that dividers in title or even title tag doesnt have much of an impact on better rankings. I had great rankings for many keywords, not using dividers or using only one divider. However for better reading comprehension and usability, and also aesthetics i started to use the pipe as my main divider and other secondary dividers. I saw many pages drop in rankings vs other less competent and with less content pages. My format was as follows: Product Brand | Product description - Additional info or local info ie. Fiber Glass MBI | Insulation Batts for Home and Commercial use - Acoustic and Thermal Insulation I changed the format for a handful of pages, and saw immediate results on rankings and traffic on those pages. Product Brand with Product Description - Additional Info ie. Fiber Glass MBI Insulation Batts for Commercial use - Acoustic and Thermal Insulation. Does it sound like something i should implement page wide. I personally like the aesthetics of the pipe as it gives a cleaner look, but the better rankings on the changed pages with using only one divider makes me think. Does it sound familiar, or its just a coincidence, Regards,

URL SEO: Better directory structure vs. exact keyword phrase
I am trying to understand how to best optimise a url for a page to rank high for specific keywords. Example: a top keyword search is "rental properties in new york". Question is does this keyword need to appear as this exact phrase in the url or should it be broken up into different directories for a better structure e.g.: www.abc.com/en/properties/new-york/rental OR www.abc.com/en/rental-properties-in-new-york Which will help the page rank higher (given all other things on the page are exactly the same)? Thanks!

Does anyone use Genesis Framework? If so can a newbie use it and a few other questions
Hi, So as I search the wonderful land of the internet, I see this Genesis framework brought up quite a bit. I have researched it for a few weeks, but it seems like it uses hooks instead of shortcodes. So I am curious if anyone has used it? And if so what your thoughts are about it? I am a COMPLETE newbie here, so hooks look scary. I am sure with time they will seem like second nature. They claim it has airtight security. So if you have used this framework, how is this any different than an updated stock wordpress site? I understand that vulnerabilities may be in plugins and such, but if it is really airtight, that seems great. Any thoughts are appreciated as I just want the best user experience. So many people use this framework, yet my site gets if I'm lucky 1000 views each month. It is a basic site to let people know we exist. So its not like I have a popular blog with 50,000 pageviews each month. But... going into the future, I want a pleasant and consistent user experience. Maybe a wordpress theme is all you need. Maybe a framework is more for developers. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Chris

Installing a site on top level domain directory VS deeper directory
How important it is for seo to install a site on a top level directory vs deeper directory? example: www.mysite.com VS www.mysite.com/catalog many eCommerce scripts such as oscommerce and cre loaded will install by default to /catalog and that's what I've been doing for most of my customer. does it mean it will be harder for them to get good seo results? Thanks in advance for the input...
