Why is my inner pages ranking higher than main page?
-
Hi everyone, for some reason lately i have discovered that Google is ranking my inner pages higher than the main subfolder page.
www.domain.com/subfolder --> Target page to be ranked
www.domain.com/subfolder/aboutus ---> page that is currently rankingAlso in the SERP most of the time, it is showing both links in this manner.
www.domain.com/subfolder/aboutus
-----------www.domain.com/subfolderThanks in advance.

@davidboh Then one has to assume it's relevance, or some issue with the first page. As I say, unfortunately hard to speculate without specifics, sorry
-
@tom-capper Strangely the main subfolder page has more backlinks and higher domain authority than the deeper page.

Strangely the main subfolder page has higher page/domain authority as well as backlinks.

It's hard to say without specifics.
My guess would be that the deeper page is either more relevant, or historically has had more relevant links (whether they be internal or external).
Clearly the pages are on a similar topic for Google to be showing them as indented links.

Unsolved Almost every new page become Discovered - currently not indexed
Almost every new page that I create becomes Discovered - currently not indexed. It started a couple of months ago, before that all pages were indexed within a couple of weeks. Now there are pages that have not been indexed since the beginning of September. From a technical point of view, the pages are fine and acceptable for a Google bot. The pages are in the sitemap and have content. Basically, these are texts of 1000+ or 2000+ words. I've tried adding new content to pages and even transferring content to a new page with a different url. But in this way, I managed to index only a couple of pages. Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

Could it be that until September of this year, I hadn't added new content to the site for several months?
Please help, I am already losing my heart.0 -

Pages not indexable?
Hello, I've been trying to find out why Google Search Console finds these pages non-indexable: https://www.visitflorida.com/en-us/eat-drink.html https://www.visitflorida.com/en-us/florida-beaches/beach-finder.html Moz and SEMrush both crawl the pages and show no errors but GSC comes back with, "blocked by robots.txt" but I've confirmed it is not. Anyone have any thoughts? 6AYn1TL

What should I do about not found pages?
I took over a site that had been hacked. A bunch of pages were created that said domain.com/cms/viagra. The pages are gone but they still show in webmaster tools as not being found, which is what I want. However, should I do anything besides leaving them as 404?

Handling 301s: Multiple pages to a single page (consolidation)
Been scouring the interwebs and haven't found much information on redirecting two serparate pages to a single new page. Here is what it boils down to: Let's say a website has two pages, both with good page authority of products that are becoming fazed out. The products, Widget A and Widget B, are still popular search terms, but they are being combined into ONE product, Widget C. While Widget A and Widget B STILL have plenty to do with Widget C, Widget C is now the new page, the main focus page, and the page you want everyone to see and Google to recognize. Now, do I 301 Widget A and Widget B pages to Widget C, ALTHOUGH Widgets A and B previously had nothing to do with one another? (Remember, we want to try and keep some of that authority the two page have had.) OR do we keep Widget A and Widget B pages "alive", take them off the main navigation, and then put a "disclaimer" on the pages announcing they are now part of Widget C and link to Widget C? OR Should Widgets A and B page be canonicalized to Widget C? Again, keep in mind, widgets A and B previously were not similar, but NOW they are and result in Widget C. (If you are confused, we can provide a REAL work example of what we are talkinga about, but decided to not be specific to our industry for this.) Appreciate any and all thoughts on this.
