@designbump Hi there!
A score of 1%-30% is considered a Low Spam Score. If you look at the 27 factors or signals we use to determine Spam Score (https://mza.bundledseo.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/spam-score#spam-score-signals)
There are two that may be impacted by the quantity of outbound links:
20. Number of External Outlinks Spam sites are more likely to have abnormally high or low external outlinks.- Number of Domains Linked-To Spam sites are more likely to have abnormally high or low unique domains to which they link.
However these are just two of 27 factors that are considered as part of Spam Score.
Spam Score represents the percentage of sites with similar features to the site you’re researching which we've found to be penalized or banned by Google. Spam Score is based on our machine learning model which identified 27 common features among the millions of banned or penalized sites in the data we fed it.
It's best used in the context of reviewing the overall quality of your site so that it best serves your users.
If you do make changes please note that Spam Score is updated quarterly, however we don't currently have an exact date of when the next update is due.
I hope this helps!

A score of 1%-30% is considered a Low Spam Score.
A score of 31%-60% is considered a Medium Spam Score.
A score of 61%-100% is considered a High Spam Score.
A high Spam Score for your site, or a site you're looking at, doesn't mean this site is necessarily spammy, or doesn't have great backlinks. It's a sign that you should do some more investigation into the quality and relevance the features on the site you're investigating.

I'm not even sure how often they rescan the website and update their records because nothing has really changed in over a year, despite my efforts.

Hi there!
Jo here, from the Moz Support team.
Updated for 2021 Spam Score --
It's worth noting that a score of 1%-30% is considered a Low Spam Score, a score of 31%-60% is considered a Medium Spam Score, a score of 61%-100% is considered a High Spam Score.
Moz's Spam Score is the percentage of sites with similar features we've found to be penalized or banned by Google (it's not based on the spam score of the sites linking to you). To improve this score I would recommend reading our guide which explains the 27 factors used to make up this score. You can then look at your site and investigate areas you would like to improve on your site:
https://mza.bundledseo.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/spam-scoreDisavowing or removing links is not a method for improving your Moz Spam Score. We don't have a way to identify links you've disavowed. Google doesn't make this information available through their Search Console API. Spam Score is percentage of sites with similar features we've found to be penalized or banned by Google.
Cheers,
Jo

'spammy' domains redirecting to website
Hi Everyone, I hope that someone will be able to help us with this one as we have trawled the internet looking for a solution! We have multiple domains (.com/.co.uk/.net versions) which all point to the one website, however, some of these domains have a high spam score - 9-11. Our first initial reaction would be to remove the auto redirects, but, the other domains have been a source of conversion in previous months (or so analytics tells us). So what I'm wondering, is do we remove the 'spammy' links from redirecting to our site, or do we leave them there? We certainly don't want to risk a penalty. Thanks for reading!

What are the SEO implications of high quality backlinks from US-based websites to UK-based websites?
Hi everyone, quick question I hope someone could help me with: We're representing a client based in the UK. As part of their overall strategy we've been linkbuilding. At the moment, about 80/90% of the links we've gained come from UK-based sites, with 10/20% coming from US-based websites. The US based websites are very good (think New York Times and genuine, relevant blogs with good readerships). An external search analyst/consultant has contacted the client to say that the US links will be harming the site, because the links are from websites in the US and not the UK. We believe that if 80/90% of the links were from the US this could indeed cause harm as it could indicate to search engines that our client is in the US when it's not (which might compromise their chance of ranking in .co.uk versions of search engines) however because it's only 10/20%, and because the linking sites are very good, we believe that they will getting all of the benefits of the positive metrics without any meaningful negatives. We just wanted to get a few opinions on this to see if people think that we're mistaken, and would be glad to hear any opinions contrary to our own.

Spam links - what would you do?
Hello, A few months back our website was hacked which we noticed quickly and got fixed. However, there still is a lot of dodgy backlinks, linking to the spam pages. They come up in Webmaster Tools, Moz and SEM rush. According to the Moz Spam tool, a few of them have been given 7 flags which Moz suggests gives a 30% chance of being penalised by Google. The website has great rankings (position 1-3 in most targeted keywords) so I am scared of doing something that will harm the rankings, however I also aware that Google may do an update which could take these spam links into account. I have no experience of using the disavow tool but from reading up about it, it should only be used as a last resort. So my question is - what would you do?

Large natural products website owns education website. Should relationship be disclosed?
Hello All - I'm working on a content strategy for a large natural products company. In general it's difficult for articles about the natural products industry written written on commercial company sites to show up in the SERP. Most of the results come from large educational sites and blogs with no obvious affiliation (or products for sale). This company also owns an educational site - one that would be much easier to get content on the first page of the SERP for. The 2 sites are hosted on the same server. My question is - does this website relationship look fishy? Is it a grey area to create content for the educational site - content where the purpose is #1 education, but #2 - to promote products from the main site and send traffic to the main site. I do think it's important to note that the main company site does not actual sell any products there (products are sold on Amazon and on shelves in stores). I appreciate your thoughts!

Website/blog list to get quality backlinks?
Hi Everyone says quality backlinks increase ranking of your website. Can you please suggest a list of good websites and blogs from where I can get quality backlinks and how to do that. I have one person at my disposal full time to do manual commenting or any manual tasks for getting backlinks but how should i approach this problem (of getting backlinks). Where do I start. For information, my website provides online services (its an ecommerce site) and also has a blog in subdirectory. refer to www.geekwik.com www.geekwik.com/blog Would like to become top ranker on search for these services (eg 'logo design services', 'website programming', 'content writing', 'hire virtual assistant' etc) Also anyone interested to become our SEO consultant or SEO service provider (of course paid) is most welcome 🙂 Thanks in Advance!

Is there a tool to find out our website's link in some other website?
sometimes we know our site link is there on a site but the site is so big its hard to search manually. Is there any tool which can crawl the whole site and find the page having our site link ? though I know about OSE, and we can also see backlinks from webmaster tool. But still if you know any tool where instead of seeing the whole back link profile, we can add a specific url and see our site link in that url.
