Unsolved Question about a Screaming Frog crawling issue
-
Hello,
I have a very peculiar question about an issue I'm having when working on a website. It's a WordPress site and I'm using a generic plug in for title and meta updates. When I go to crawl the site through screaming frog, however, there seems to be a hard coded title tag that I can't find anywhere and the plug in updates don't get crawled.
If anyone has any suggestions, thatd be great. Thanks!

@KyleSennikoff Hi there! It sounds like you're encountering a common challenge. Check your WordPress theme files, especially header.php, for any hardcoded title tags. Additionally, ensure that the plugin-generated title and meta updates are reflected in the betflixs HTML source code. If the issue persists, consider reaching out to the plugin's support for assistance. Good luck.

there are a few possible explanations and solutions you can try:
Theme settings: Some WordPress themes have built-in options to set a default title tag or meta description for your website. Check your theme settings to see if there's a section where you can modify the title tag. Look for options like "SEO" or "Header" settings within the theme's customization options.
Child theme modifications: If you're using a child theme, it's possible that the hard-coded title tag is coming from a modification made within the child theme's files. Review the code of your child theme, particularly the header.php file, to see if there's any direct reference to the title tag.
SEO plugin conflicts: It's possible that there is a conflict between the generic plugin you're using for title and meta updates and another SEO-related plugin installed on your WordPress site. Try deactivating other SEO plugins temporarily to see if the issue persists. If the problem is resolved, you may need to choose one plugin for managing your SEO metadata.
Caching plugins or server caching: If you're using any caching plugins or server-level caching, it's possible that the changes made by the plugin are not immediately reflected due to caching. Clear the cache within the caching plugin or purge the server cache to ensure that the latest changes are being served.
Plugin compatibility: Check if the generic plugin you're using for title and meta updates is compatible with your current version of WordPress. If the plugin hasn't been updated in a while, it may not work correctly with the latest WordPress version. In that case, consider finding an alternative plugin or contacting the plugin developer for support.
Manual inspection: If you've exhausted the above steps and the issue still persists, you may need to manually inspect your website's code. Use the browser's developer tools to inspect the source code and search for the specific hard-coded title tag. This will help identify where it's coming from and allow you to make the necessary modifications directly in the code.
Remember to take a backup of your WordPress site and its database before making any changes to your theme files or modifying the code.

We just updated our sites WP YoastSEO plugin one day prior to the Moz weekly crawl. Not sure if our change interrupted our weekly Moz crawl or if it was an issue with Moz. The Moz weekly crawl, weekly email notifications were not received and all Moz campaign reports were not updated. I would like to run a crawl immediately. How can I do so before waiting for the next MOZ crawl?

Unsolved Moz Pro crawl signaling missing canonical which are not?
Hi,
Moz Pro | | rolandvintners
I'm trying MozPro considering using it.
One of the tool which is appealing is the crawl and insights.
After quick use, I really question many of the alerts, for instance, I got a "missing canonical tag" on this url: https://vintners.co/wine/grawu_gto#2020 but when I check my markup, there's clearly a canonical tag: <link rel="canonical" href="https://vintners.co/wine/grawu_gto"> Anybody can explain?
I asked Moz Pro staff when being onboarded but didn't get an answer...
Honestly, I'm questioning the value of these crawls, or may be I miss something?0 -
Why does Bing bot crawl so aggressively?
We observer that the Bing bot is crawling our site very aggressively. We set Bing's crawl control so that it should not crawl us during heavy traffic hours, but that did not change a thing. Does anyone have the problem and even better a solution?

Detailed ranking question for the pros
Hi Community, We've been struggling with the search engine ranking of our SEO optimised homepage for a number of months. I'm going to provide an overview of the page stats in hope that somebody might have a suggestion as to what the problem might be or where we should be focusing our efforts. I have also provided the stats of our main competitor as I have no idea why they are ranking so high based on the stats provided: URL in question: https://mysite.com On Page Grade for our targeted keyword: A Domain authority: 36 Page authority: 45 Root Doman Links: 57 Total Links: 634 SE Ranking: #17 Competitor URL in question: https://competitorsite.com On Page Grade for same targeted keyword: A Domain authority: 32 Page authority: 43 Root Doman Links: 28 Total Links: 919 SE Ranking: #1 Another strange this about our homepage is that a second tier page on our site is actually ranking higher in the search ranking for the Targeted Keyword (#9), even though this page has not been optimised and has an On Page Grade of F. Does anybody have any suggestions of what we might be overlooking or what the issue here might be? -JF

Duplicate content question...
I have a high duplicate content issue on my website. However, I'm not sure how to handle or fix this issue. I have 2 different URLs landing to the same page content. http://www.myfitstation.com/tag/vegan/ and http://www.myfitstation.com/tag/raw-food/ .In this situation, I cannot redirect one URL to the other since in the future I will probably be adding additional posts to either the "vegan" tag or the "raw food tag". What is the solution in this case? Thank you

Open Site Explorer Question
In OSE I have 3 of my top 5 pages as store.com, store.com/Default.asp, and store.com/default.asp -- I have a canonical version of at store.com/default.asp. I have inbound links coming to all three urls -- b/c OSE is listing these as seperate pages does that mean the link juice is not being consolidated? Or is this not something to worry about?

Questionable SEO
Chess Telecom appears first when you search for 'business phone lines' in the UK so I used a campaign to check them out. It seems they've got tons of unrelated links and using comment spamming to increase their ranking. Along with fake twitter accounts and other things. Search for 'jewel jubic chess' and you'll see what i mean. I assumed this wasnt a good idea and been trying to get my link on relevant websites only. Any comments or suggestions? Should I simply trust that google will hopefully punish them eventually? Or should I be fighting fire with fire? Thanks Dan
