Local SEO NAP issue
-
Hello,
All of my citations addresses have the street address
913 S. Latah Street
except there are other businesses in this building with the same address. Should I have included "Room H"?
Also, is "S." different than "South"? Is "St." different than Street?
Looking for correct consistent citations.

Hi Bob,
To be honest, I'm unfamiliar with the designation 'room number', though 'suite number' is highly common. To me, a room number sounds like something in a hotel or school. Is a room the same thing as a suite? I'm curious.
At any rate, yes, if you are in a multi-business building, it is vital that your business is differentiated from the others with a number or letter of some kind. If your profiles and citations lack this, then the danger is that your NAP signal is being partially shared by other businesses. This could lead to duplicates, merging, penalties, etc., that could sap the strength of your listing.
Your job is going to be to clean up as many possible citations as you can so that your business is correctly listed at the address (including the number or letter) at which mail gets delivered to your business.
I highly suggest doing this:
-
Yourself, manually.
-
Hiring an expert to do this for you manually.
I would not recommend using any type of automation in this situation as tools may fail to turn up all instances of listings with this NAP discrepancy. Create a spreadsheet, fill it with links to your citations, work to correct them and check them off the list when you see that the change has gone into place on the various citations. Lots of work, but worth it to secure and clarify your NAP signal.

You really should include the Room H in the address 2 field and commit to revising all your NAP in all addresses. As you might already know, you can automate that change in real time for a good number of databases using Yext or you can use UBL.org to take care of it over a longer period of time, or you can do do it yourself with the help of SEOmoz's getlisted.org
-
Definitely add the Room H and update it with all of the citations you currently have. Also, "S." and "South" are different and will throw off the consistency, same with "St." and "stree" or "suite" vs "ste" vs "#". Make sure you enter the same information everywhere.
-
I would recommend adding your unit number other wise it can create inconsistencies. Keep in mind once you add the H you will need to add it to all you citations (including the ones you have already submitted) and you will need to verify again in google places.

Google Places, Google+ Local, or both?
I understand that Google is in the process of merging Google Places into Google+ Local, but the current state is very confusing. There are still two separate signup pages, and neither even MENTIONS the other. If someone is establishing a business web presence today, what should we set up?

Link building to Google+ profile: any local SEO value?
Has anyone found value in building links to Google+ profile for local seo rankings? My gut tells me that it will, but I am not 100% sure. If it does, then does that mean that all the traditional SEO factors that would go into ranking a site organically also work for ranking locally for certain keywords? So far, I have found that the best thing for moving up rankings is reviews on Google+, but then does that make local SEO (from a high view point) just a race for high reviews and building the most citation? I am feeling like the differentiator for local SEO is UN-structured citations and links to Google+ profiles. Any thoughts? See you at MozCon!

Google+ Local Assistance (Listings being reviewed)
Hey guys, My client is having issues with his Google+ pages and I'm wondering if someone can shine some light on the issue for me... Basically the client has two businesses, both using the same residential address. The page was ranking well until a week ago, when it disappeared from search results and was listed in the dashboard as "Under Review." I've heard horror stories about this -- examples of Google taking months to review pages and make a decision, and I'm wondering if if might be better to just delete the under review pages and start over (hiding the address on the new listing to comply). Local Seo Help!
Hi everyone, Google Places is going to be the death of me. I have asked a few questions on this topic before but nothing seems to work. Here are some of my problems/concerns: It keeps deleting my description!? Have you seen this before? The "more about this place" section has not been updated since I claimed the listing over 3 months ago. The website it lists at the top of that section is our old website address which no longer works. The site was through a site builder and the company will not forward the domain to the new site. Are there any companies or services that can help build a great profile and help increase my rankings? I am starting to think this is over my head. Do I delete the page and start over? Any advice? Please! What's the deal with this local business directory? (http://www.camerchants.com/)
They have a couple listings of us with screwy info but i can't actually use their website, all the buttons that say "join" or "write a review" "uplaod an image" etc, are just an href="#" and don't actually do anything??? I figured maybe they have some broken javascript so i tried using different browsers (firefox & chrome in mac, and IE in windows.) Here's our listings in there: http://www.camerchants.com/Business/Storage+-+Self+Service/Storwell.Self.Storage/MTAyODAzNQ# http://www.camerchants.com/Business/Movers/Storwell.Self.Storage/MTEwMjMyOQ
