I have been struggling with this questions myself lately too. After the recent updates, i have been Googling around on various keywords. Basically i used words like product location and started searching on various industry. Some interesting notes i found:
moneylender "location" - top 3 sites occupied by a site with the same design and obvious link wheel. The design of site consist of just 3 images each with their own h1 linking out to 3 different money site(i hate this term) below is some text with links that goes out to the exact same site designs.
Private investigator "location" - did a search on this as i had a friend with me at that time in this industry and the top result that came out is a site that no one in the industry has any idea whom it belongs too (and this is a small industry here where everyone knows each other). Curious i checked more and discovered that the site has another website with a TLD that end differently. eg:privateinvestigatorlocation1.location1 and privateinvestigatorlocation2.location2. Both sites has the same text and design! only changes was the location1 was changed to location2.
3rd search SEO location - the number 1 site has a pa 1 da 1. 0 back links.
over and over i did searches and honestly the results are disappointing for me. Got troubled by it and decided to invest in tools like seo moz and this just got me even deeper into the confused zone

Google's Local Search Results for Broad Keywords
I have a question regarding Google's local search results for broad keywords. Since Google is changing their algo to reflect local results for broad words, would it be beneficial now to start going after those words as well? For example: we have a client ranking for 'miami security alarm', but I would like to know if it would be beneficial to start optimizing for 'security alarm' as well. Also, since Google's keyword research tool reflects searches on a national level, how would I be able to find out how many searches a broad keyword is receiving on a local level? Thank you in advanced!

Keyword Stuffing
Hi, I have a particular page I am working on fully optimised as per the page rank tool and grading A. Problem is, there is still one issue on the page, the keyword I want to rank for in particular on that page is reporting that I am over using the word. I have looked through the HTML on the body of the page and see that the actual content is not an issue, I have less than 15 mentions of the keyword, the problem actually arises from the Nav Bar The word I am ranking for say is football Well in the nav-bar, I have several pages that are named football-xxx.html So where the actual page content only has 12 mentions of the keyword Football, list has another 13 due to my page naming properties.* Football- xxx Football- xxx Football- xxx Football- xxx Football- xxx Football- xxx ....... And so on up to 13 different pages with a similar naming structure (obviously the XXX are products like socks, shorts, tops, boots etc) So, without asking the obvious, I assume that the way to change is would be to rename the pages (can't really happen), or remove the term football from the body of the content on the website. So firstly, is the Google algorithms not smart enough to recongise that the content in the menu tag is in fact the nav bar ... and page names as opposed to keyword stuffing. Also, how did anyone else handle a similair situation And lastly, I am assuming basic on common sense alone that Keyword stuffing is a big no no, of everything I have learned though SEO Moz, this makes clear and concise sense to me ... So how do I resolve the issue I have here Many thanks in advance for any help offered Regards John

Old website, new domain name
Hi, We have an old website which is currently being 301'ed to a new domain name / bespoke e commerce website as we're rebranding and having an increase in the range of products we will be selling. My question is can we keep the original e commerce website selling the original products under a new domain name and escape duplicate content issues with the product descriptions as we have copied & pasted product descriptions to the new website ? I'm looking to the future and building another domain name will help with future expansion plans / thoughts. Both websites are registered to us at the same business address if this helps. Please feel free to ask questions if I haven't worded this very well! Many thanks in advance.

Rich Snippets stopped showing up in SERPS
Up until a few weeks ago my testimonial review ratings (5 star rating system) were showing up in search results but they no longer do. Went to the google rich snippet testing tool and they still do there just not on the real search results. Any thoughts on why? Perhaps an algorithm change?

Is this a new type of rich snippet?
I recently came across a type of rich snippet in a Google search result that I can't find information about. I attached a screen shot and circled in red.. http://i.imgur.com/mWgj9.png Has anyone seen these rich snippets before? If so, what are they called and how do you get them for your site? Thanks! mWgj9.png

High ranking for high volume keyword, but low traffic
We are ranked, according to Moz (and we've tested to back it up) #3 on Google UK for the keyword "Hire a Jet". According to Google, this keyword gets 22,500 local searches per month. Yet we get about 5 hits a month for that keyword. Any ideas why this is so low? It just doesn't add up or make sense whatsoever.

Referencing this article: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/07/06/google_cans_11m_dot_co_dot_cc_sites/ Curious what the ramifications of this to SEO (improve rankings over spammy results, etc) and to hear thoughts on this.
