Interesting indexing issue - any input would be greatly appreciated!
-
A few months ago we did SEO for a website, just like any other website. However, we did not see crawl/indexing results that we have with all of our other SEO projects - the Google webmaster tool was indicating that only 1 page of the site (although only 20 pages) was indexed.
The site was older & originally developed in Dreamweaver, so although that shouldn't have been an issue, we were desperate to solve the problem & ended up rebuilding the site in WordPress. While this actually helped increase the number of pages on the site that Google indexed (now all 20) - we are still seeing strange things in the search results. For example, when we check rankings manually for a particular term, the new description is showing, however, it is displaying the old title text.
Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thank you so much!!

Thank you for your response! I will try this out!

I agree it can be the old site still showing up in the cached version of the search results.
You can use a plug-in called Yoast word press SEO
http://yoast.com/wordpress/seo/
if you want to make sure that this is fixed correctly. It will allow you to type in the correct description entitles that you wish to implement.
Sincerely,
Thomas

Can it be that the old indexed page still shows the old text? In my experience when I change metas and titles it takes a random amount of time to get indexed the way I want it, even though webmaster tools show the correct info.
The randomness is even worse when it comes to ranking rich snippets (in my experience).
How long has it been? I would just give it some time

Discovered - currently not indexed issue
Hello all, We have a sitemap with URLs that have mostly user generated content. Profile Overview section. Where users write about their services and some other things. Out of 46K URLs, only 14K are valid according to search console and 32K URLs are excluded. Out of these 32K, 28K are "Discovered - currently not indexed". We can't really update these pages as they have user generated content. However we do want to leverage all these pages to help us in our SEO. So the question is how do we make all of these pages indexable? If anyone can help in the regard, please let me know. Thanks!

URL Indexed But Not Submitted to Sitemap
Hi guys, In Google's webmaster tool it says that the URL has been indexed but not submitted to the sitemap. Is it necessary that the URL be submitted to the sitemap if it has already been indexed? Appreciate your help with this. Mark

Should I remove these pages from the Google index?
Hi there, Please have a look at the following URL http://www.elefant-tours.com/index.php?callback=imagerotator&gid=65&483. It's a "sitemap" generated by a Wordpress plug-in called NextGen gallery and it maps all the images that have been added to the site through this plugin, which is quite a lot in this case. I can see that these "sitemap" pages have been indexed by Google and I'm wondering whether I should remove these or not? In my opinion these are pages that a search engine would never would want to serve as a search result and pages that a visitor never would want to see. Attracting any traffic through Google images is irrelevant in this case. What is your advice? Block it or leave it indexed or something else?

.htaccess Redirect 301 issues
I have completely rewritten my web site, adding structure to the file directories. Subsequently added was Redirect information within the .htaccess file. The following example ...
Technical SEO | | Cyberace
Redirect 301 /armaflex.html http://www.just-insulation.com/002-brands/armaflex.html
Returns this response in the URL bar of ...
http://www.just-insulation.com/002-brands/armaflex.html?file=armaflex
I am at a loss to understand why the suffix "?file=armaflex" is added The following code is inserted at the top of the file ...
RewriteEngine On redirect html pages to the root domain RewriteRule ^index.html$ / [NC,R,L] Force www. prefix in URLs and redirect non-www to www RewriteCond %{http_host} ^just-insulation.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.just-insulation.com/ [R=301,NC] Any advice would be most welcome.0 -
Duplicate Content Issue
Hi Everyone, I ran into a problem I didn't know I had (Thanks to the seomoz tool) regarding duplicate content. my site is oxford ms homes.net and when I built the site, the web developer used php to build it. After he was done I saw that the URL's looking like this "/blake_listings.php?page=0" and I wanted them like this "/blakes-listings" He changed them with no problem and he did the same with all 300 pages or so that I have on the site. I just found using the crawl diagnostics tool that I have like 3,000 duplicate content issues. Is there an easy fix to this at all or does he have to go in and 301 Redirect EVERY SINGLE URL? Thanks for any help you can give.
