ECommerce Tracking Code Installation
-
Hi All,
Kindly explain how to implement eCommerce tracking code on the website.I am aware how to enable and generate eCommerce tracking code in Google Analytics but have confusion from website end. Also, where i read the steps, everywhere i read the below code:
<script< span="">type="text/javascript"> var _gaq = _gaq ||[]; _gaq.push(['_setAccount','UA-XXXXX-X']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); _gaq.push(['_addTrans', '1234', // transaction ID - required 'Acme Clothing', // affiliation or store name '11.99', // total - required '1.29', // tax '5', // shipping 'San Jose', // city 'California', // state or province 'USA' // country ]); // add item might be called for every item in the shopping cart // where your ecommerce engine loops through each item in the cart and // prints out _addItem for each _gaq.push(['_addItem', '1234', // transaction ID - required 'DD44', // SKU/code - required 'T-Shirt', // product name 'Green Medium', // category or variation '11.99', // unit price - required '1' // quantity - required ]); _gaq.push(['_trackTrans']);//submits transaction to the Analytics servers (function(){ var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type ='text/javascript'; ga.async =true; ga.src =('https:'== document.location.protocol ?'https://ssl':'http://www')+'.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); ----------------------------------------</script<>
In the above code specific transaction id, SKU/code are mentioned.
What will be the modifications in the above code if i have to track all products present on my eCommerce website??

Hi Ruchi!
The reason for this, was that this was an example with three products added to a the cart/order. If you have more products added to the cart, then the _addItem must be repeated for each and every single product/orderline. This code should only reflect the products in just one given transactions, not all the products in your store. You will have to find some way pass this information dynamically when people order products from your store, as this is not hardcoded beforehand - it is to be created dynamically on the fly when a customer loads the final transaction page (like a receipt/thank you-page). There is no special tracking for the individual product pages.
On regular product pages, you only need the standard Google analytics tracking code. In addidtion, you could add a custom _trackEvent for when people add a product to the cart, but this is not mandatory, and does not influence the ecommerce tracking.
Best regards,
Anders

In your example, Google will track only three specific products those you have mentioned in your analytic code.
Again, i am repeating my question that how will i track the transaction for "n numbers" of products those are present on my website. Is there any variable that i would have to pass in '_addTrans' and '_addItem' to track.

Hi!
I believe this should be a working example:
Hope this helps

Thanks Anders,
It would be great if you can explain it with example or if you have any reference article.

Hi Ruchi.
This really depends on what the customer buys. the tracking code you reference above should be placed on the order confirmation/receipt page and should be dynamically filled with transaction ID/SKU's etc based on whatever the customer ends up buying.
- The _addTrans section should be filled with the customers transaction info.
- The _addItem section should be filled with the products bought, (and repeated once for each orderline)
Hope this helps
Best regards,
Anders

Tracking Organic Traffic and Conversions from multiple TLDs with Google Tag Manager
Hello Guys, I want to track traffic / conversions from different domains (basically same brand - but a lot of different TLD's). The "problem" is that the main conversion which I want to track always happens on the .com TLD and all other TLD's link to there. The problem is, that now the traffic always counts as Referral Traffic, even after setting up cross domain tracking over the google tag manager... So example: Sessions begins on example.co.uk/landing-page11 after User searched on it on google. He decides to buy the product and therefore moves to example.com for the checkout process. No I will have the conversion in my google analytics under referral with example.co.uk. --> but I want to have it under organic, and not under referral. How I can manage this? Thanks for you Help!

Cross Domain Tracking in GA (without cross domain links)
Hi everyone, Been doing some research about cross-domain tracking in Google Analytics (preferably Universal Analytics where documentation is a bit spare). All of the tutorials focus on the auto-linking and ensuring links to the other site are taken care of. I'm considering a site that may not cross-link like that at all (or it may, but won't be the main avenue). A good example is: www.gap.com

www.bananarepublic.com
www.oldnavy.com Now, they do link to the other brands in their navigation but let's pretend that they don't necessarily do that. Gap Corporate may want to roll up all these domains into a single reporting profile because customers can clearly visit any of those sites on their own and buy. It would be nice to know that Visitor X bought 2 items from gap.com and 3 from oldnavy.com... and of course, here were their campaigns, etc. From what I am reading, I am not sure this is really possible. It seems that the cross-domain code is really only best for when my main site links to another domain for checkout or something. But in my example, we are definitely not in control of that kind of behavior. Thoughts? Perhaps I need to recommend they go with subdomains only which Universal GA seems to handle quite fine out of the box. Thank you!0 -
How to track forwarding URLs sent via DNS settings
Buongiorno from hot a humid wetherby UK. A client has gone ahead and set up DNS forwarding from www.ramsdens.tv to http://www.ramsdensforcash.co.uk now they wonder why theyve got no data showing in Google analytics. So knowing theyve gone ahead with this method of forwarding how is it possible to measure referrals originating from www.ramsdens.tv My only thought is to add a tracking parameter on the baclk of the forwarding url. Thanks in advance

Track shopping cart abandonment?
We have an e-commerce site, and we use Google Analytics. We have created a "sales" goal + the funnel. Our funnel has the following structure: shopping cart - register - login - address - shipping - payment method - confirmation - sales This helps us track "goal abandonment". But we're also interested in tracking "shopping cart abandonment". For example we can see that 100 visitors enter the shopping cart, and 80 of them proceed to register or other steps in the funnel. This means that 20% left the car (shown by a red arrow in Google Analytics). Is there other way to see how many people left the shopping cart without proceeding to any of the other steps in the funnel, for example, people that closed their browsers or went to a page in the site not included in the funnel? I know I'm missing something here... Thanks!

Cross Domain Goal Tracking
I am trying to set up conversion tracking on a new website. The traffic will be landing on example.com, but the final step of the transaction takes place on app.example.com. This is the first time I have ever done something like this and Google's documentation does not have a lot of details about how to do this in GA. Does the tracking code need to be installed on example.com and app.example.com? when setting up the goal page does it need to be /landing-page/thank-you or app.example.com/landing-page/thank-you is this well documented in google's help finals and i am just calling it the wrong thing?
