Press releases CAN rarely be useful if you have actual newsworthy affairs... say an event sponsorship that is for a good or community cause that can make it to your local paper or news sites actually.
stay AWAY from CHEAP providers such as lightening press releases (pure spam artists) or others as they all will involve a high degree of utter rubbish spam networks of scrapers and syndication sites that will constantly generate links for you for months on end, that COULD POTENTIALLY BITE you at some point even if Google currently does not care about them.
PRweb does nicely and is about the only one I would personally trust to be least spammy in the network of their 30000 bloggers. but there will be spam unless you are taking the highway and having a professional PR firm or person take care of affairs with more personal relations in the media crowd than one of these web services. costly, but can get you HOURS OF LIVE COVERAGE on tv (say if you are a restaurant and your fox666 local channel has nothing better to do for 8-11 am slot) which in turn not only can bring more traffic and actual market exposure, but will more than likely have some people check u out and give you links/reviews/etc.

Hi there,
You can use press releases to get more coverage and awareness. Simply posting releases for the sake of link equity is a very outdated tactic that will not work well. Google has said they don't want to "count" links from press release aggregation, and most of the links are nofollowed anyway. Additionally, if you use too much targeted anchor text, you might run into problems with Penguin penalties.
My advice is to experiment with well-written press releases only when you have something that is actually newsworthy and that people will actually care about. Don't just submit them and wait - there's a lot more to it. There's an entire marketing sub-field (public relations) devoted to getting positive media coverage from which you can draw.

Bigblaze,
I use PRWeb for these purposes. It gets your products exposed to over 30K bloggers as well as all the major traditional media outlets. They have various plans but the pan that allows you to post media as well as copy is the best value. You can essentially create a mini infomercial about the products pointing back to your main site. I try to use this with all my clients but I really like to use this to get to the top with difficult categories and key words.
You do need to know this is indexed as news and is a very powerful link for a while but over time the value and positioning decreases so you will either need to put out a new release with new information or get more links in the mean time.

Back link from site with DA of 72 to a website domain. Clicking on the link redirects to our website not the attended one.
Hi,
Link Building | | JIMBO16
I've ran a back link check and discovered a good back link to a site which then gets redirected back to my company's website. I have a feeling that an old SEO agency has purchased a small website which has a decent link back from a relevant organisation with a high Domain authority and then redirects the domain to our website to get the link juice. What are your thought on this? Is this really bad practise and possibly damaging? Thanks, Jim0 -

Buy links
I know that many of you are against the whole thing with buying links. Your feelings put aside. Will it be better for my site to buy links or even do link exchange? Haven´t the crawlers been thought by now how to find these untrue links? I have read somewhere that the stop after 100 links, aren´t they smarter than that?

Links I am not Building?
Hi All, I check webmaster multiple times on a daily basis, and I noticed some links that I have not worked on and look a bit spammy, is it possible for people to purposely pont bad links in my direction? If that is the case is there a way for me to remove them myself? Also the number of total backlinks are very different in Webmaster and my Open Site Explorer, is this normal? Thanks again !

Does the ratio of external nofollow links to external "do follow" links matter in terms of SERPs ranking?
My site has an external link nofollow:dofollow ratio of approximately 1:1 That is, there are about as many nofollow external links as "do follow" external links. I have an impression that the ratio of no-follow to "do follow" links is a factor in the way that our website shows up in SERPs. I have the impression from reading a variety of sources, and from looking at Seomoz, that calculate "trust" factors as if they mattered (in SERPs), that seem to value a relatively low nofollow:dofollow ratio. Am I correct about that? Thanks,
