Terrible branded ranking
-
I am at lost. My website has been live for about 3 months. Typing my name or my direct page title into google puts me on page 15.
My site is indexed by google, a site:mywebsitename search - produces 202 results. My on page SEO isn't amazing buy it isn't terrible either. The website has 35+, 500 words+ reviews and a few incoming links from some occasional link building. 0 duplicate content.
The website is animexcess.com
My thoughts on what might be causing the problem, i am hoping that someone with a bit more SEO knowledge than myself can point me in the right direction.- During development, i had duplicate content up on the site as placeholder while i wrote my own - All duplicate content has been removed for about 3 months now, but can this still be affecting me ranking? and to this extent?
- The entire website is in a sub-directory with 301 redirects - can this be affecting my ranking to this extent?
- The domain had a prior owner. Waybackmachine tells me that the domain had a page up in 2007. I bought it in 2010. If the prior owner built up a bad rep on this domain can is still be the cause for poor ranking 6 years later? I cannot file a reconsideration request since there are no manual actions taken against my site in WMT, any way around this?
- Its only been three months. I know 3 months isn't a very long time in the google ranking world but my my 2 week old, built in 1 week, secondary website is ranking on page 1 for some pretty solid terms, so i don't think 3 months is to short a time to expect a bit of results.
- My website is being crawled daily.
Any advice on how to move forward with fixing my website ranking will be much obliged. Thank you.

Thanks Michael.

Earlier you said you bought the domain - it looks like the junk links could have been built before you bought it? Either way, right now that domain is killing you.
Yeah, you need to disavow those links if you want to keep that domain. Honestly, these are the lowest-of-the-low links...anchor text w/ "questionable" porn, payday loans, online pharm...it is pretty bad.
If it were me...I'd trash the domain and start with a fresh URL
-
I'm at a lost. I did not do this and i have never paid or asked anyone to create 13,787 backlinks for me. Would a disavow correct this and stop it from happening again?
-
I have very few incoming links, hardly enough to be considered spammy, i think. But how would i go about doing a disavow? There are no errors or manual actions being listed under WMT.
-
The domain has been hit most likely - check out the incoming anchors
Spammy anchors from bad sites. You need to do a disavow and hope you come back.

Why Google de-rank a website.
Hi, I was inspecting a website which is covering the topic of best wheelbarrow of 2021, it is a new website and and starts ranking on google. But, after few days it got de-rank automatically and Moz is also not showing any result to that. I was wandering why this just happened and what should I do if I made my website and will not face this kind of situation?

I want to shift my website to a new domain name, with my brand name. Would Lose rankings
hi, Currently i have a 18 year old domain name "www.jaipurdentists.com". I wish to shift to a new domain name "www.thaperdental.com". primarily because of two reasons: 1. I have a same name competitor with domain "www.thaperdentalclinic.com", the site gets benefited because of the brand name domain. 2. The new domain name "www.thaperdental.com" is better to remember and pronounce. Even if I redirect all web-pages, properly to the corresponding web-pages on new site. Should I go ahead with this? will it result in drop in rankings!

Very different serp rankings for different countries
Hi! A client of mine has a global presence and we are therefore tracking serp rankings for multiple Google domains; google.com, google.ie, google.co.uk for example. One page is ranking quite well in Google.ie (position 11 right now) while at the same time ranking extremely bad in both Google.com and Google.co.uk (position 100+). How can that be?? I did do some optimization (for example Title and Desc) before the rankings in .com and .co.uk went really bad (they were higher before (pos 30-40)). But it is the same page Google indexes...but the results are very different. How can this be? What can be done? Thanks!

Need advice badly domain rank loss
I have a main domain and a sub domain that both were doing very well and after looking at the Moz history its obvious that panda and penguin affected my site considerably. My keywords are holding rank but my search results and traffic are way down. My question is if I just take my subdomain (which is really my bread an butter shopping cart) and I consolidate my sub domain with my main domain would this help? I would basically make my main domain the shopping cart and make them one site. This should change the links to all the sites. The problem is I will lose the backlinks if I do not do a 301 but I do not want to bring bad links over and my keywords are holding rank. What to do?

Repeating brand name on all subcategory levels
As part consolidating our site navigation, I have an opportunity to change how we name url s on child pages. At present, I think there are 2 problems that could be fixed.
Technical SEO | | stephenfishman
1.As you drill down, the brand name is not part of each url.
2. Also, the urls show abreviations that are not customer friendly. Are these worth changing? I am redirecting pages whether I change the naming or not. Below is my current navigation and below that the changed navigation I am considering. Many thanks to all that look and share their thoughts. Handcrafter --- details -- This is an e-commerce site with on hand products and similar products which are custom ordered from a catalog: Current Navigation Drill Down: /ctgy/brandname.html /ctgy/brandname-onh.html
/ctgy/onhmir.html then the specific products:
/onhmir/30322-onhmir92_741.html
/onhmir/30324-onhmir96_743.html The catalog has more products and so has 1 extra level of child category pages:
ctgy/brandname.html
/ctgy/brandname-cat.html
/ctgy/brandname-catmir.html
/ctgy/design1catmir.html
/ctgy/design2catmir.html then the specific products:
/catmir/30322-catmirhappy.html
/catmir/30324-catmirhappy.html Changed Naming Under Consideration:
On pages above the product page, (category pages) spell out all words and place the brand name in the parent url. The result would be: /ctgy/brandname.html /ctgy/brandname-on-hand.html
/ctgy/brandname-on-hand-mirror.html then the specific products:
/brandname-on-hand-mirror/30322-onh-mir92_741.html
/brandname-on-hand-mirror/30324-on-hand-mir96_743.html The catalog has more products and so has 1 extra level of child category pages: /ctgy/brandname-catalog.html
/ctgy/brandname-catalog-mirror.html
/ctgy/brandname-catalog-mirror-style1.html
ctgy/brandname-catalog-mirror-style2.html then the specific products:
/brandname-catalog-mirror-style1/30322-cat-mirhappy.html

Strategy for retiring brand
Hi guys, I have a client who bought over a fairly well known competitor. They now want to amalgamate the brands and redirect visitors from the competitor's site to their site. There is a healthy volume of organic search queries for the competitor's name. I was thinking about the following strategy: Email all subscribers to let them know about the change Use a meta refresh redirect on the competitor's site to explain about the move After a set period, remove this meta refresh and replace with a 301 redirect Use a canonical tag on the competitor site assigning value to the main brand Set up a landing page on the main site that's optimised for the competitor's brand name and explains about the move. Do you think that this is a good strategy for managing the transition? Thanks!
